what happens if you enter the wrong unlock code too many times, is there anyway to reset this, or the phone can't be unlocked anymore?
Thanks in advance

I don't know about that but if you want to unlock your phone permanently the simple way download galaxy_s unlock in the market by helroz applicable only if your phone has root access.
you ever see the movie alien? that crazy molecular acid that eats through anything?
that stuff comes out of the phone after 3 failed attempts.
+1 for "Galaxy S unlock", good question though, next caller...
If you enter the wrong code too many times the phone will become permanently locked to the carrier.

Well, if its unlocked via imei, Im safe to unlock the bootloader... at least thats as far as I could gather by all the info scattered around.
To help narrow down the possible unlock method used, I can add that whenever the phone is rebooted, and there is a sim from a different Service Provider than the "original" one, it asks for a network unlock code. By tapping "skip" the phone then boots up and works just fine with any other Service Provider's sim.
This leads me to believe the phone was unlocked by other means than IMEI. And hence, all hopes of unlocking the bootloader are obliterated.

Well, I still don't know what method was used to apply the simunlock, but, I was able to find out that my bootloader is unlocked.
So, that's cool :cyclops:

Nice! Have fun!
So, my lovely XZ that is supposedly locked to Three UK says bootloader unlockable=no. However, when I hold up and plug in the usb, the light goes blue and Flashtool reports that a fastboot device is connected. Isn't fastboot unusable on a locked bootloader? Anything simple I can do to check this?
Secondly, if fastboot can be accessed, and I have an auto-generate key from the Sony bootloader unlock site, will this still now work if bootloader unlockable=no? Or am I barking up the incorrect trees here? I have toa dmit I didn't check whether bootloader was unlockable before flashing the stock variation by [NUT] and I know the root method he uses sometimes sets this value to "no" even though it was previously yes. Would flashing the "fix" for this to check break anything if the bootloader isn't unlockable?
Operator locked Phones can't be unlocked, so yes, your barking up the wrong tree.

I'm tempted to go to a Service Centre with a couple of crisp bank notes and see if I can get mine done, and this is the last time I get a Phone from an operator.
From me to you.

I will. I did have faith in the great Devs here coming up with a solution, but that has since faded from what I've been reading, and we've got Sony, along with the operators to blame for that.
Mainly the operators. I actually asked 3 why they locked the bootloader. They spun some crap about security and kept telling me that I could to to Sony to unlock it which shows they know nothing. Seems like it's all in the ta partition but without doing a diff of a hex dump of unlocked and locked from the same device don't really know what can be done.

Hi All,
Hi have the HTC One Locked to Rogers, I had previously unlocked the phone as Im with Koodo. I purchased an unlock code and everything worked just find I was using the phone on the Koodo network for several months, then one day it lock up at the quietly brilliant screen after several attempts I was able to reboot the phone and same thing happened, again after a reboot it finally wouldn't power up. Needless to say I had to send it in under warrantied repair. I got the phone back and the main-board had to be replaced. I attempted to unlock the phone again via code just as I did before using IMEI, each individual states that a code could not be generated. I have rooted devices before but I'm no seabiscuit if you know what I mean and am not entirely sure to what extent I need to go to root and unlock the phone. Before anyone says anything about the rooting/unlocking i know this wont immediately solve my problem but if I have this access can I not find the unlock code in the phone once rooted in addition to other alternatives?. I appreciate any help you guys and gals have to offer.
Thank you

Anyone??? I'm sure I can root this thing but don't know where to go from there.
You will need a new unlock code generated to sim unlock the phone. Has nothing to do with rooting the device. Unless you mean bootloader unlock??

I mentioned I had done this! Unlock code cannot be generated for this IMEI after repair. I am fully aware that rooting will not resolve this. However I will need to root in order to attempt an unlock of carrier via whatever methods are available once rooted such as using hex editor custom roms or whatever other methods are available. Again phone was unlocked via code previously after repair the main-board was replaced and an unlock code cant be generated apparently for the new IMEI.
Are you saying that you can't buy a SIM unlock code?

I bought an unlock code twice, both times I was told that my IMEI could not generate an unlock code. The codes were bought from a reputable source. I was refunded both times. This phone was sent for repair they replaced the main-board. Prior to this repair phone was unlocked via sim
There is no way to unlock via rooting currently.
Perhaps wait a few months and the code may come in to system

Hi if I root my S6 Active will that also unlock it. No I know everyone is going to respond rooting and unlocking are different things but the question is if I root it will it still be network locked. Or does the act of installing new software on the device remove the network lock?

It won't SIM unlock it by rooting it, they're 2 different things. You need the SIM unlock code to use it on a network other than ATT.
Are you sure

Are you sure does that mean that the network lock is hardware on the device and not just software. I mean if I erase all the software and install a new custom ROM if the network lock is software based it should be gone. The reason that I ask is I just got my phone back from samsung for a repair and now I can't unlock it. AT&T and Samsun have no idea why the unlock code doesn't work. So I need to find a way to unlock it without AT&T's help.
Will fix it

Hmmmmmmm
thats unsual.....
Not sure I have ever heard that flashing a new rom would Unlock a phone to any sim before and indeed that would mean just reflashing a full stock rom on samsung devices would unlock them.....
In my opinion you probably talked to someone who had no idea what they was talking about and said what you wanted to hear..
I could be wrong but am sure MANY others will confirm what I have said...

Ok so I just upgraded to android 11 and want to unlock the bootloader but while doing it through the app it says failed to unlock the device why is that?
Also I have never unlocked my device before it's the first time I'm trying to do so..
Do a backup of your data you don't wanna loose and flash raw file with A10 available here in ROG3 section. Then your unlock tool will work. After you unlock you can update and restore data. Bootloader remains open until you lock it again with abd or app.
