[Q] Installing CM7 over official 2.2 - Motorola Droid and Milestone General

I recently flashed the official froyo, now i'm not too happy with it, how would i go back to cm7? do i need to flash the GOT 2.2 again or can i install it over the official one?
Thanks.

Yea, I was wondering the same .. can somebody help us?
Thanks in advance

No need. Flash vulnerable recovery and then apply CM7. It is in times like this that a nandroid backup would be so helpful.

[Q] Anybody from Newcastle (UK)?

hello guys,
I am looking for someone who is able to flash my friends Samsung galaxy s i9000. It has still the Froyo software on it. I successfully flashed my to ics but I am not able to do this with the other device. It has a strange basebuild no. I'm not sure how to do this.
Can anyone help me? I would be really thankful.
Cheers
Is no one able to help me?
The baseband is the modem. Should make no difference to which rom you flash. Is it on eclair, froyo or gingerbread?

Sorry, just noticed you've said froyo. You just need to flash stock gb rom, then the semaphore kernel to match for cwm and root, then you're good to go for any custom rom you wish.

This smartphone has JM1 installed. Sorry but I am an absolutly newbie. I only was able to flash my one with a step by step guidance.
I haven't found anything about JM1 How to flash etc.
I am a little bit desperate now ....
Search for a stock gb rom (jvu/jw1 are recent) with gb bootloaders and follow the flashing instructions using odin.

Sorry, where do I find something like this? After flashing with Odin I will be able to put ICS from teamhacksung on it?
See perka's jvu thread in dev section, there is an odin flashable download.

Once flashed, boot up, turn off, then flash cf-root kernel for jvu - use the search function to find thread or go to read first couple of pages of perka's thread for a link.
Once you're rooted, you'll be good to go.

Is it this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108 ?? You mean JVU is compatible with JM1?
Thank you for your help!
If you're friend needs a rom i'd start by either flashing Darky's ROM 10.2 RE with full instructions including a vid tutorial on that thread
or
Flash Jetpack v8.2 with instructions and a vid tutorial in that thread.
The reason why i recommend those two ROMS, is they're particularly easy to flash and have good support.
I'd start with Darky's ROM and then move to other ROMS from there if you want, because it's a fast, very stable rom with a brilliant community for support. Plus you dont need much expertise to flash it, and it comes packaged with root and clockwork mod recovery installed, so you dont need to do anything to prepare your phone for flashing. This ROM does it all. If you wanna move off from there, well then you're all set. But if you're friend just wants a fast stable ROM, then he's all set with Darky. If he wants a bit extra speed, then move to Jetpack V8.2 it's stable and no bugs and its very fast and features thunderbolt! tweaks preinstalled, which are custom tweaks written by a guy called pikachu01 and they improve the SGS very well. They dont require too much expertise to install, but this saves you hassle and gives you all those added benefits from thunderbolt!.
If you're really keen on this teamhacksung ICS build then go to the darky rom and then from there install teamhacksungs build. Just make sure you read carefully to know what you're doing.

Flash a stock gingerbread rom. Then flash a custom kernel like semaphore. After that you can install ics.

I can answer your question partially. The advised method to go to CM9 from amy ICS ROM is to go to a stock GB ROM first. Hopefully someone will better answer your question, and you're right that it has been covered several times in the CM9 thread.

NO!!
All released ICS Firmwares have the Brick Bug.
I think it's enough to flash a safe Kernel (like Speedmod) before flashing cm9
Thanks. flash speedrom.

[Q][i9001][Restore Roms Without Re-installing]

Hi dear users, I have few backups of my stock rooted rom 2.3 gingerbread for the galaxy s plus. After using the ics cm9 for a few weeks, I kinda faced signal or call drop issues. So i tried installing another rom, still the problem persist. So my final decision is to bring it back for warranty check, with that I have to be unrooted and stock recovery. So my question here is can I just go to cwm and just restore that stock gb rom on top of my cm9 rom? Or must I re-flash a stock rom found in xda?
Thank you in advance!

Not advisable as the CWM you used in Gingerbread is different from the CWM used in CM9, you can flash GB ROM and after that you can use restore, if you want your backup
So in another words is I can flash any gb roms (eg. Nitrox white edtition rom), and then restore my previous backed up gb rom.. I see thanks alot man

If you want your phone to get unrooted then just flash stock GB firmware via odin.. this 'll unroot your phone..
If my post helped, don't mind hitting THANKS

[Q] Flashing from a JB ROM to Stock

Hey guys thanks for the help,
I know how to flash roms and have a pretty good idea of how to work within CW. However my friend flashed his Samsung Captivate to a JB ROM (I'm pretty sure it was more of an official AOKP ROM), and after a couple days, he decided he wanted to flash back to a more stable Gingerbread ROM or the ICS CM9. I tried to help him flash back but it comes back with an error and then when we reboot it has the same ROM from before.
So, what would I have to do to flash his phone back to CM 9 and what preparations would I have to do to flash it back?
(By the way, I have an HTC Inspire myself, so if anything is different besides the type of ROM's I have to flash, don't be afraid to tell me. I want to learn more about it.)
Thanks so much for your time and help. It is much appreciated.
I would install stock GB ROM using Odin .. then flash cm9 if needed

Flash UCKK4 stock rom(use it from the one click master collection of stock rom's). Then flash the corn kernel(search forum for it) as it has a built-in cwm recovery, Then flash whatever rom you want to flash.
I have the same problem, but i've a samsung galaxy s i9000. What can I do?
Thanks for help.

Probably better ask in the i9000 q & a forum...
