Stock KB1 theme - Captivate Themes and Apps

Does anyone know if anyone has done a stock kb1 theme?
I have the stock kb1 froyo with voodoo lagfix.

Would like to know this as well. Did some searching and didn't find anything either.

By stock do you mean AOSP?

Like me I think he is running AT&Ts Official 2.2 KB1 ROM.

Yup, the official kb1. Someone should make some kind of theme package.

Not that have seen. In fact I think this is the first time any has asked for this that I can remember.

I think the reason that no one has themed the stock KB1 ROM is because the stock ROM is not deodexed.

This!
I was going to deodex and experiment with themes made for Cognition, but it just seems easier to flash to Cognition!
I did get some parts of the Matted Blues theme for Cognition to work on stock KB1. All of the icons in the notification bar (battery, 3g/edge/wifi, silent, and USB icons) worked as well at the toggles in the notification bar (wifi, bluetooth, gps, silent, and auto rotation).
From what I have tried, that is as far as the theming can go on an odexed ROM.

Wow man... you should keep trying to develop this. Or other developers for that matter. It would be cool to have a theme for the stock kb1

Hey guys,
I was just thumbing through the themes section and came across this post.
I'm currently running a modified KB1 theme. I've only made specific mods to certain aspects of the KB1 theme that I wanted to see either shaped or colored differently. I'll make a mod to the status bar, the contact layout, the dialer, notification menu, etc....
For me, I'm just having some fun making my own tweaks and mods without flashing an entire ROM. Just my preference for now. I'm also learning more about the file structure and the links between certain files and file types by doing so.
Just in case anyone was interested and wanted to do as I am doing, while keeping their stock KB1 Froyo 2.2 ROMS and have the ability to make certain mods and tweaks, you can find an in depth step by step tutorial on deodexing a stock / odexed ROM.
You can find the thread right here
Have a blast...
Peace-

Cool thanks man..

Are there any Mods that work on Stock ROM?

I have a rooted Nexus One 2.2 and I really wanted to keep my stock ROM (there are always issues with cooked ROMs regardless of how well they are prepared) but I also want to be able to morph/mod my device a bit.
As you may tell I'm a bit of a noob so I'm just wondering if this is possible without flashing a custom ROM?
What would you like to change?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
You say that regarding cooked roms, but the same can be said with any of the "mods" you want to use. Everyone is different, even you stock rom may not be immune to "stock" or the most basic mods. But I get what you are talking about.
You can use setcpu to oc your processor. There are a bunch of metamorphs you can use to customize your phone as well. They even have a circle battery mod that you can use WITHOUT being rooted. Only thing is, that mod does not overwrite or replace anything. It's an addition to he existing features.
Not to say all mods are worthless, being a CM6 user for a while and then going through eVil D's sense files and now Rod's MIUI files are welcome additions to people like me who like a lil spice in their daily flashes lol.

I'm just looking for some bits and pieces.
Circle Battery in Notification Bar
Notification bar colour change
etc
If your looking for aesthetics then I'd suggest using a launcher like adw or launcher pro... And you can only underclock without a different kernel.

Simple to do. I use the stock FRG83 ROM myself with these exact changes. First thing you need to do is get a deodexed version of the ROM. I use the one found here by Geo411m: Completely Stock Deodexed with busybox
I then went out and found all the images that I liked from various other ROMs and themes and made my own update zip file using Geo411m's FRG83 Blackbar Add-on v1.2 addon as the base.
Just take a day or so and learn how the themes work and that the framework-res.apk file can be modified using winrar or winzip and then you should be on your way.

[CM6][Theme][Edify]Gingerbread theme for cyanogenmod

Ok, this is the deal, READ THE THINGS IN RED.
THIS THEME IS NOT MINE. ORIGINAL, NON-EDIFY THREAD HERE http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=867850 - This is for Evo but works on Epic.
I TRIED MAKE THIS EDIFY MYSELF BUT IT DIDN'T WORK. I FOUND THIS THEME ON GOOGLE AND DON'T KNOW WHO MADE IT EDIFY.
YOU NEED TO BE ON CYANOGENMOD FOR THIS THEME. THERE IS ANOTHER ONE FOR OTHER ROMS.
This will work with cwm 2 and 3.
Anyways, enjoy http://www.multiupload.com/YCKVXWZTHI
This gave me a boot loop, unfortunately.
Edit: Tried again after restoring Nandroid, working fine now for whatever reason. Very good theme.
I personally don't recommend this theme and advise everyone to stay away from flashing this, I can confirm that it caused issues for myself and may cause even more unforeseen problems as our CM6.2 ROM develops.
Wait for a proper CM6.2 Gingerbread theme or stick with DK28 and the Gingerbread theme for DK28.

[Q] Questions on themes for Cognition 3.04

So I'm running cog 3.04. I like some of these themes, but I'm confused as to whether they will work with cog 3.04. I've been able to discern so far that themes are dependent on the type/version of the kernel running.
So what themes will work with cog 3.04?
Same here, I like FireFly, not sure where to get theme though
Cognition is rebuilt on Rogers I896UXJL1. Any theme made for the JL1 rom should work fine.
Or you could look for themes that say they are for Cognition. Standard backup everything before flashing still applies.

Thnx for info, do u know how to get Phoenix theme by any chance?
It has absolutely nothing to do with what KERNEL you're running, and everything to do with what ROM you're running.
And I don't mean like Cognition, Serendipity, etc. but JPY, JS3, JKYK78, 1337 etc.
i see themes for phoenix, but seems like those are older one, those do not like as I have on I896 for FireFly

Cog 3.04
I successfully flashed to this yesterday and have been enjoying it today. Thank you. So far, no problems. This was my first ROM flash. I was on stock Eclair from AT&T.
A few follow up questions:
1) should I now install Adobe Flash from the app store? does it work well? I'm not going to play flash games. I really just want to be able to see flash movies on news sites like WSJ. I'm asking because I heard it's hard to uninstall and I don't want to mess up my new rom.
2) what is the deal with Media Hub? how will we get it on custom roms? do we know when that will be available?
3) I did this flash without Rom Manager. should I now get Rom Manager for the next flash? is the idea that Rom Manager makes it easy to get back to stock 2.1 and try new Roms from there?
Thank you! rocketman_dc

[Q] looking for stock froyo debloated

im looking for a superclean froyo rom.. stock froyo debinged debloated zipaligned deodexed..
these are easy to find on fascinate forums. but im having difficulty finding them in your forums as there are so many custom roms..
mods please stop closing my threads. this is a valid question. i have a rom chart from my last thread (closed) but they all look like custom roms to me.
what is your stock froyo rom called? ex ours in fascinate are called things like (eb01)
KB1
But you probably won't find anyone with a debloated zipaligned deoxeded version, it's still crap without all the fixes from the custom roms.
Cognition 4.x was close to stock Froyo, but it has since gone custom crazy. Andromeda 1.2 is based on a stock Captivate ROM for the Armani version and while it has some nice tweaks, it is still pretty close in appearance and function to stock, but without all the bloat.

i second the Andromeda 1.2 vote. It is running flawlessly on my cappy, and is what the stock install should have been like (you get the bonus of a georgio armani splash on boot)

It was a limited version of the Captivate designed for Georgio Armani. Electronically, it is the same as our Captivate in every way. Software-wise, it has a customized version of Froyo with some Armani touches like the bootscreen and system font. Andromeda simply removes the carrier bloat and adds performance enhancements like Voodoo lagfix, working GPS and some other nice touches. It runs flawlessly on my Captivate.
For lite and quick, I've always relied on Andromeda or Paragon RC6.
As for just a stock 2.2 without the bloatware, I've never actually seen any.

Thanks Piratghost, I've favourited that. It'll be handy to have!
Why don't you just do it yourself?
Root
Use titanium backup to remove the aps you don't want
Follow the how-to and deodex
I am not sure about zip aligning, but I know you can so everything else pretty easily.

Ok just to try something, I flashed the zip PG posted. Everything went smooth. The only extra thing I had to do was use super one click to enable non market apps.
One tip I learned: if you use ti backup to remove unwanted apps before resorting, you will save yourself a lot of extra scrolling!
Btw, I am now running at&t 2.2 rooted, sideloading enabled, CWM, voodoo lagfix, matted blue theamed, plumb bob gps fixed, with 6 unlock screens, extended power menu, H (hsdpa) icon, and blackout gingerbread live wallpaper.
Scored 1576 in quadrant.
Whats side loading

I think I an explaining this correctly, enabling sideloading allows you to install apps from sources other than the market. Ie: you can DL an apk right to your phone and install it.

[Q] Theme

This should have gone in the Mosaic IV Q&A section. And to answer your question...Typically when installing themes you want to make sure the theme was made using the same firmware version that you are running. Such as a JVH theme should be applied to a JVH rom. Also you could have asked in the theme thread how to install the theme, but I checked it out for you. It's a CWM file. Just flash it in recovery, but make sure you make a back-up in case something gets messed up.
I did verify that it was a jvh rom. but i did not know how different the captivate & I9000 are. just wanted to make sure.
When you make sure i back up, what do you mean excatly? back up theme, if so how? or do you mean back up rom, kernel?
thanks for replying!

Just make sure you have a theme that you know for a fact will work with Mosaic IV. That way if something does mess up you can just boot into recovery and flash that theme instead of re-flashing the entire rom
Cool that's what i figured, i did have a back up. Everything looked awesome except for the "Contacts". When i would click on contacts it would get this error

I always thought those I9000 themes would only work on a stock platform.of course with the matching firmware is this true?
I wouldn't mind trying out some of the jvp themes on symply rom.

I tried a couple themes from over in the i9000 forum .. You got that because those themes are not 100% compatible with our roms. The Cappy devs tweak stuff in the framework a little differently because of hardware differences etc and that causes mismatches, especially with themed apps like contacts. I had the worst case of that ever when I flashed a theme over mosaic 3 and my dialer would give me that message after every number i typed in. crazy things can happen Its best to just to wait it out until the Mosaic team port all their stuff, that way you wont have any problems at all. They have all the best themes anyways.

I mean you can try, I found a couple that worked with roms I was using. Always keep a backup theme though. Ive been put in bootloops before and had to re-flash entire roms at like 12% battery just to get myself out.
Ya thats what i kinda figured. that them is awesome and i would love to have it on my captivate.
thanks for the reply.
