Wondering if there is app that will allow me to do the following:
Take a picture with my EVO, OTA it will sync my photo folder and my NC (turned on and connected to my sprint overdrive) will also sync and download. I hope to then have the pics on my NC that I can show or edit. (basically adding a camera to the nook)
A little about the equipment: NC is rooted running stock rom, I am not opposed to using a different ROM but I just have not had a lot of time to screw with it.
The EVO is NOT rooted, not opposed to it just have not really needed to do it for my purposes.
I played with CX to sync a little bit but I can't seem to figure out how to make the synced directory be my photos folder or find a way to tell the camera app to put photos into the synced directory. If rooting the EVO would allow me to make changes to make this work then I will do it, just looking for some direction...
Thanks again for any help and thanks to all the DEVs who make these devices awesome!
Maybe something like PicPlz? It will sync to dropbox as soon as you add them. Then you can download from Dropbox to the NC (please dropbox, a much better client for Android soon!).
PicPlz
This article on Lifehacker also says that if you start Dropbox, then your camera, pictures will go directly to Dropbox. I haven't tried it, but I have done the other method of starting Dropbox and then saying new picture, which starts the camera and it will dump to Dropbox.
Lifehacker
Just found another one that supposedly does 2-Way auto sync from/to a folder of your choosing.
Dropspace

I have been playing around with trying to make a Titanium backup of my phone's apps and data that can easily be moved over to the g tablet. I currently have been
making the backup
swapping the sd card
copying files from sdcard2/TitaniumBackup to sdcard/TitaniumBackup then batch restoring the apps and files.
I will play around to see if this process could be easier, possibly automated.
I'll keep you posted.
Anyone else working on this or have any alternative solution?
Check out the Titanium Backup sync to Dropbox feature, you might be able to configure it in a way that would accomplish your goal.
I have set up dropbox sync, but uploading/downloading takes quite some time. I started another thread about how I would like to be able to connect my DX to the G tablet via usb. If I could get that to work transfering files would be faster and I wouldn't have to swap sdcards all the time.
I just found a post about using an app called aFileSync. http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applications/tools/afilesync_nxn.html I'll try to play around with it and see if it works. If I can get it to work well, I will write up a FAQ.
I just would really like to be able to keep all my app settings/savestates/etc from my phone and my tablet.

FTP works well over a good wifi connection...that is what I use for transfers to / from PC
Astro also has a SMB module that I use when I want to access files on network shares
Update:
I have got my data to go across both my DX and Gtablet.
I made a label for all the apps (mostly games) that I want to backup. Backup on titanium. Sync to dropbox. On the other device I open dropbox, download the titanium files, move the files into my /sdcard/TitaniumBackup, open titanium and restore. It takes less than a minute to complete.
It isn't automated like I would have originally hoped, but at least it works!
Hi XDA people. In folder /data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/files right now I have 2095 files named thumbnail_photo_(\d+).jpg. Those are thumbnails for contacts pictures. I have may be 20+ contacts with pictures attached (of ~300 overall), All these files are duplicates. Dated since I first turned phone ON I think. And duplicated ~once a day for every thumbnail. What's going on? It can theretically eat all my data's partition space
I have installed Skype, version 1.0.0.983 and twitter account. Some contacts are linked skype/twitter/phone/google. Pictures at most from skype, 1 from twitter.
I have HTC Incredible S, started with stock ROM (i think this duplication started in stock ROM), now I have Android Revolution 1.1.1.
Any help appreciated.

maybe your phone thinks their cute? lol but that is weird if you really want to get rid of them then do a full wipe of everything (expect battery stats) and install a fresh rom
but they wont slow down your phone as it uses flash storage, and can you tell how much space their taking up?>
also what rom are you using ?

Be serious, jul644. They took 18 Mb. 95% of them are orphans I guess, they are not linked to contacts2.db. So who will clean this up if not manually delete them?
This strange effect started in stock HTC ROM, now I have Android Revolutin, which is almost same, at least in HTC Sense part.

Yes, I do contacts sync with google, but there are no duplicates of contacts not in phone nor in "google contacts" via web. All my backups I do by nandroid in cwm, bever backedup/restored via Titanium nor phone did not full contacts fetch from online store.
So I found something interesting today.
I removed photos from contacts, disabled contact aggregation on twitter and skype etc., cleaned that folder.
Configured contacts sync and aggregation with skype and twitter again.
Checked folder - only one copy for every picture.
That was three days ago. What I have now: contacts with twitter and flickr pictures are still in one copy, but pictures got from skype are now in 3 copies each. Their modification times are with the difference in 24 hours.
Need to check if they all are listed in contacts2.db. Will post result soon.

Somehow I messed up setting up my wife's new Moto X. In the past I had some tasker tasks to transfer all the photos off our phones and onto our NAS every night. In setting up the task on her new phone I deleted a slew of pictures. I know the original photos are gone and I'll face the music on that one. However, if I go to camera and swipe to the left I can scroll through all the photos. I can't email or share any because the file is gone, but if I can see the photos there must be a low res image someplace on the phone still. Anyone know how to access these and possibly get me out of the doghouse? They're not in the DCIM folder at all. I poked around in the Android/Data folder a bit, but did not find them.
On the same note, is there a way to clean these out over time? Seems to me if I have a thumbnail of every photo ever taken it would eventually fill up the storage.
Thanks
Get an app like astro file manager, or root Explorer and go to storage then DCIM and your thumbnail pics should be there.

Those are probably all cached. As for recovering them, I'm sure you can find them in the cache -- I don't know where they'd be saved (I believe there is a /cache partition but then there's also the possibility that the gallery caches those previews somewhere in /data/). It may be easier to to screen shot the ones you want.
EDIT: see above post - that's probably what you want
As for the cache growing, I'd imaging that the gallery app has some sort of maintenance. But there is always the option of using apps (I have SD Maid, personally) and/or periodically clearing the cache partition via a custom recovery
Thanks all. This was good info also. I ended up finding the files on my NAS which leads me to a whole other question which I will post seperately from this as it only related by symptoms.
Hi,
I've noticed in 8.1 version pictures - if attached to the email - are always resized.
Example:
- original picture shared via bluetooth: 2592x1456 pixel
- original picture sent via mail: 1632x916 pixel
I saw - with another lumia and wp7.8 - the same "issue".
Now with the 520 updated to wp8.1 nothing is changed.
Is there some setting/way in order to attach pictures to the email without losing resolution?
Thanks

Ok, if I don't want to use it?
It may work to use a file manager app (like Aerize Explorer, Files, Pocket File Manager, etc.) to select the file and choose to "share" it via Email. The resizing is probably being done via the Photos app, the other apps won't do that.
If it's still getting resized, put the file in a ZIP first and then email the ZIP. Some of the file manager apps can do that.
The obvious other option, since if for some reason full-size files are needed a PC is probably involved anyhow, is to copy the files off the phone (via USB, Bluetooth, whatever) and email them from the PC.

Thanks for your answer.
I'm searching the easier way to "share" pictures without losing resolution... considering that the user that use the phone isn't so good with tech... and if I tell her something like zip or something else the result can be deleterious...
Anyway, also for my knowledge (personally I'm not using WP) I will try your suggestions
Ah, gotcha. Yeah, if you want to do something like send everybody full-resolution photos from your vacation or whatever, copying them to the PC first is a good idea regardless. It *is* annoying that the app shrinks the photos before sending, but not really a huge surprise. WP8 tried pretty hard to reduce cellular data usage, and sending photos from a phone can use a lot of it if they're full-res.
It should also be pretty easy to make an app that just does photo sharing stuff, at full res (instead of using the built-in one). In fact, I'd be shocked if you (or your friend) can't already find a suitable one on the store.
Does anyone know how to delete photos off of the Nexus 6. Everytime I try to delete a photo from the device a warning comes up and tells me it will be deleted from Google Drive as well. I just want it off the phone to save space.
I do want things synced so for local deletes I use Quick Pic https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alensw.PicFolder
The other thing I like about that program is all the photos snapshots videos in any directory are immediately available, regardless of whether it was synced or not. Also has better sorting options for looking at previews. I would probably delete photos app entirely if quick pics would sync to Google Drive.
I would definitely like more options or if somebody has a better solution I would like to hear it. It seems silly having to run two "gallery" programs.

Is there a way to do it without having to add an app. Not being able to delete from the device seems quite ridiculous. If not possible through the photo app on Lollipop this seems like a MAJOR flaw that needs to be fixed.

I might have a solution for you: open your stock camera app. Instead of taking a photo, just swipe toward the left. That'll give yourself access to photos without going into the Google Photos app. You can delete photos from there. It's not as efficient as it could be, but you won't lose your photos in the Google Photos app. Good luck.
