Busybox DNS fix - Xoom Themes and Apps

You may or may not have noticed that busybox utilities that require DNS lookups aren't working (nslookup, traceroute, wget). Here is a simple fix:
I didn't find a resolv.conf so I added one and it started working.
adb remount
adb shell
echo "nameserver 8.8.8.8" > /system/etc/resolv.conf
8.8.8.8 is one of Google's public nameservers, you may want to add another for redundancy
Rerun the above echo but make sure to use >>
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App

Thank you so much! I did check for resolv.conf, but since it didn't exist I figured it wasn't used on Android.
The weird part is wget used to work. Then one day it stopped ["bad address"]. So I manally specified /system/xbin/wget [instead of /system/bin/wget I think] and it worked! But then I guess I upgraded busybox or something and it stopped working again so I googled and found this post. Thanks again.
wget, I have missed you

Need help, please
__________SOLVED_____________________
adb shell [enter]
su [enter]
mount -o remount, rw /system [enter]
echo "nameserver 8.8.8.8" > /system/etc/resolv.conf [enter]

Didn't work for me
Hi,
Your solution didn't work for me (Galaxy note ICS stock and rooted), even after rebooting the phone.
cat /system/etc/resolv.conf gives
nameserver 8.8.8.8
nameserver 8.8.4.4
nameserver 4.4.4.4
while ls -la /system/etc/resolv.conf gives the correct permissions
-rw-rw-rw- 1 0 0 57 Feb 17 04:34 /system/etc/resolv.conf
It's incredible that such a serious bug last for years!
Thanks,
L.

More stock live wallpapers working!

I got the stock live wallpapers Grass, Galaxy, and Water working brilliantly. Nexus doesn't work here, but Nexus Revamped in the market (same thing, only customizable) works perfectly.
Download this apk: http://db.tt/ur0c98s
It won't install, so use either adb or use Root Explorer instructions below . . .
Root Explorer:
Copy the file. Go to to system/app. Set r-w. Paste. Set the permissions for the file the same as the other apks in that folder. They should now work! If not, try a reboot.
adb commands:
adb shell
mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mmcblk0p5 /system
cd system/app
mv LiveWallpapers.apk system/app/LiveWallpapers.bak
exit
adb push LiveWallpapers.apk system/app/LiveWallpapers.apk
adb shell chmod 644 /system/app/LiveWallpapers.apk
adb reboot

Will this mess up any of the live wallpapers that I already have installed?
Also, could you post step by step installation instructions using adb?

No, your other Live Wallpapers will be fine. OP updated with adb commands.
This worked great, thanks! I really love the "water" live wallpaper, but couldn't figure out how to get it.

Does /dev/block/mtd3 equal /dev/block/mmcblk0p5 ?? I used mmcblk0p5 successfully. I didn't try mtd3, in case it was some reserved disk location. Thanks.
I know this is an old thread but thought I would try any way. Does anyone have the modified apk that allows these (galaxy, water) to work on the stock rooted Nook? The link in the OP is dead. I have LWP working but can't get these to function. If someone could share the file, it would be much appreciated

[Q]Framework impossible on Huawei Mediapad X1 ?

Hi!
I used a few days with much pleasure the Huawei MediaPad X1, imported from HK.
Framework I use on my Galaxy Note 2 beaucou with satisfaction. But can not be installed on the X1.
Here are two screenshot, albeit in French.
If someone has an idea, thank you in advance.
Note that I've ticked the box to accept the unknown sources.

Try this version (FAQ, post #7):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52292102
Also make sure to read post #8 once you install the framework successfully, since you're using a Huawei device.
Ok I'll see it in effect. Thank you
EDIT
I don't know how to disable the resources API in the Xposed Installer settings.
And content of Number 8 link is not reassuring. I would not make fatal error or transform my new toy in gasworks.

Did you try installing the framework via your (custom) recovery?
Never tried it, and am not very comfortable with the recovery mode.
I do not even know operate on this model which button during startup.
Hi, I use 7d-504l.
I succed to be enable to activate xposed .
For Xposed Framework ver2.5.1 limited.
I use su ,onboot script by SManager as,
#!/system/bin/sh
mount -o rw,remount /system
chattr -i -R /system
rm /system/set_immutable.list
chattr -i /system/buld.prop
chattr -i /system/bin/app_process
chattr -i /system/bin/app_process.orig
I confirmed to work the latest version of GravityBox,Xblast, advanced power management7.0a.
Sent from my MediaPad X1 7.0
I correct , because of build.prop misspelled.
#!/system/bin/sh
mount -o rw,remount /system
chattr -i -R /system
rm /system/set_immutable.list
chattr -i /system/build.prop
chattr -i /system/bin/app_process
chattr -i /system/bin/app_process.orig

Android TV 13, blue screen after flashing GApps

Hey there!
Today I decided to turn an old Raspberry Pi 4B 8GB I had lying around into an Android TV box. I used this guide to install it, and it installed smoothly. There were no apps on it whatsoever, so I wanted to download the Play Store to download at least YouTube. After a bit of searching on the LineageOS website I came across a link to the Android TV 13 GApps (from here). I flashed them as the instructions stated on the website with the image, however after finishing the setup I get a (fairly nice) picture instead of a regular home screen. What gives?! If possible, I would prefer to stay on ATV 13.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT 2: seems to be an issue with the new version of MindTheGapps for ATV. downloading an older version worked perfectly

The method provided by TYK can solve this problem for you:
1. Download 7-Zip and Notepad++.
2. Open the MinTheGapps 13.0.0 .zip file with 7-Zip and drag out "update-binary".
3. Use Notepad++ to modify "update-binary" and confirm that it is in UNIX format.
4. Drag "update-binary" back into the .zip file (overwrite it).
Fix "update-binary":
Code:
...
ui_print "Copying files"
cp --preserve=a -r ./system/* "${SYSTEM_OUT}/"
if [ -n "$PRODUCT_BLOCK" ]; then
cp --preserve=a -r ./product/* /product
fi
if [ -n "$SYSTEM_EXT_BLOCK" ]; then
cp --preserve=a -r ./system_ext/* /system_ext
fi
##########
#Add:
##########
ui_print "Copying product files to ${SYSTEM_OUT}/product"
cp --preserve=a -r ./product/* "${SYSTEM_OUT}/product/"
ui_print "Copying system_ext files to ${SYSTEM_OUT}/system_ext"
cp --preserve=a -r ./system_ext/* "${SYSTEM_OUT}/system_ext/"
##########
rm -rf "${SYSTEM_OUT}/product/priv-app/TVLauncherNoGMS"
rm -rf "${SYSTEM_OUT}/product/priv-app/TVRecommendationsNoGMS"
rm -rf "${SYSTEM_OUT}/priv-app/PackageInstaller"
...

This may be related to the limitation of lineageos.
