Any ROM you get from this forum will have installation instructions. This is the best place to start.
Gingerbread has not been officially released yet so I doubt you will find any ROMs based on it. Most custom ROMs are based on JPU and JPY (both FroYo), but they do have some Gingerbread elements installed.

Nice to see galaxy have recovery and 3 button mode.
Both are working on my galaxy.
Very easy to install custom rom.
But Xperia x10 need to root then install recovery and then custom rom.

Thank you very much!
For others 'n00b' that want to install only a custom kernel...
Use Odin, flash kernel (a .tar file with inside "zImage") use PDA.
After reboot, wait a long.
I just bought a captivate. I rooted and unlocked it ( now t- mobile) . When I go to rom manager to make a recovery it doesn't recognize my device. Only gives option for i9000, epic, fascinate. What do I need to do to make a backup/ recovery?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
Unfortunately there isn't an official clockworkmod recovery for the captivate. You'll need to either flash a kernel with cwm already embedded, or manually load up cwm on your SD card. What stock ROM are you on atm?
Sent from my AOKP icy-glitched Captivate via Tapatalk 2
Sorry you sorta wrong on some things. There isn't official CWM for GB or Froyo. But there is for Eclair. Sounds like he is on GB at the moment. You are correct about having to flash a kernel with CWM in it.
I stand corrected...but yes unless your still on eclair or restore back to eclair, there isn't an official cwm

Yea, I am on GB 2.3.5 baseband UCKK4. I also have a vibrant.I am really surprised at how different the two phones are. I would like to put a custom rom on the cappy. What rom would you suggest? Kernel?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
Suggesting ROMs ins't allow because you will most likely get arguing. Flash Corn Kernel and try out some custom stock ROMs if you don't know what you're doing. If you have an idea. I suggest ANY of the ICS ROMs
I would like a stable ICS rom. PM me with any suggestions.

vcremoveboot is the revert zip for voltage control, in case you have unstable settings applied at boot.
hi, i notice most files were created for cwm flashing, but i cant find cwm recovery available for downloads, even rom manager not supporting gnote. Mobile odin also removed cwm injection.. after rooting from mobile odin no cwm...how to flash those zip files?

By flashing a safe kernel like Goku, Speedmod or Notecore for your stock TW ICS you'll get a safe cwm...it is up to you which one you prefer, just try them out...
As I know Speedmod is very stable (no oc/uv but battery friendly), Goku is undervolted/not oc'ed (don't know the voltage table) with a 100MHz frequency, but it makes no sence 'cause 100MHz use the same voltage as 200MHz...and finally there is Notecore with an eye more on performance than battery life (but it is good as well regarding battery)...if you decide for Notecore, flash the STD-version first (not every Note can handle the oc'ed version).
To switch from TW ROM to CM9/CM10 it is recommended to go back to GB via PC Odin to do a fullwipe from there to safely switch over to CM9/CM10. Other's only flash Abyss (a GB-kernel) without going back to GB to do the full wipe, but I read something about that there COULD be some problems at the end...you'd NEVER flash CM9/CM10 directly from TW ICS stock or custom ROM!!!
Ok, so happy flashing for you
thanks for your rich info advices bro, a few questions.
1. custom kernel will render from official ota updates?
2. will mess up my current app, data? like notecore will reverse sd n ext sd
3. needs to restore backup after flashing?

1.-> I don't think that OTA is possible for rooted devices, but via Kies (yes, this buggy software) you'll get official updates if rooted I've read...I always flash my FW via Mobile Odin. You can get the stock FW's on sammobile f.e.!
2.-> No, Notecore overwrites only the stock kernel...your apps'n'data should be safe! The built-in CWM of Notecore kernel shows the correct paths for internal and external sd!
3.-> Before flashing anything you'd allways backup your apps with TB f.e.! And before flashing the kernel, you'd wipe cache/dalvik cache (not DATA!) or use the jbroid kernel cleaning script (this wipes cache, dalvik and fragments of old kernel for a clean flash)! After a kernel flash there is no need for a restore backup if all went as it should.
When on Speedmod, Goku or Notecore you can also do a nandroid backup before flashing any other kernel (I allways do).
And just to clear things before you'll try to flash...You have a rooted device already???
ok thank you :thumbup:that clears my doubts, yes im already rooted with mobile odin but no cwm injected well m ready to try out..

Okay, here we go...:fingers-crossed:
If you stick with Notecore ( I think so, 'cause this kernel is amazing), you have to flash often 'cause Gavin (g.lewarne) allways is cooking a new creation of his outstanding kernel.

^^ Is a good place to start, I would say the easiest way would be to download philz kernel for your version (LRB) and flash it through the stock recovery, this will give you root and CWM and from there on the limits are endless.
or you can use philz ODIN version or even HydraCore ODIN version and flash them using ODIN (obviously ) but this will give you yellow triangle (easily removed with triangle away app)
Flash philz kernel, then use pc odin or mobile odin to flash your custom rom.
Anyway you can use the search functions to get more in deep information.

done
This s short procedure but though i recommend to read above said thread to get detail information.
Hey bro. I dont have ext sd card. Can i use it with my usb storage?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
no.. stock recovery only flashes from external storage.. use the exynos exploit app by chainfire to root .. then use mobile odin to install Philz or speedmod or hydracore.. then you are set to flash custom roms
its the 0.Root with apk procedure in the thread mentioned by Dr ketan
This is much harder than my old infuse 4g. M so confuse... Now u mean i need to root using exynos blabla then install file(mediafire link above) using odin? I dont have credit card for mobile odin, but i have pc odin.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
not the above link but you need to use tar.md5 file version of kernel.. as mobile odin wont recognize that,,
here link to MO by its Dev
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1347899
You can use pc odin but that will increase the counter and cause yellow triangle at boot
Rooted using exynos already. Installing MO and mobileODIN flashkernel N7000 already. Then what?
