Question about rom - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have seen ppl post rom version XWJS7/8 and ZSJPG etc...
Just wonder what is the different between those rom?

A comes before B and is therefore an earlier development of the rom .Plus rom bty area .
XWJS8 is the current latest version of Froyo 2.2.1 and the best its a Europe rom .
ZSJPG is rom Froyo 2.2.1 for Asia

Firmware Compatibly DTJP5 ->XXJPY

Basically can I flash a Europe Firmware or ROM that was based on a Europe stock firmware over my Australian firmware and still have my phone fully functional on the Australian Networks?
I read that Asian phones might have issues but as far as I can see the Australian SGS is the international version.
I've installed Darky's 9.0.2 (which is based on XXJPY) on my Optus Galaxy S, and I highly recommend it Much better than the stock rom, much smoother and definitely looks better!
What was your stock ROM? lexxonnet?
It was DTJP5 as well.
ok Thanks that makes me feel a lot better, I think I will install Darkyy's 9.0.2 as well. Which CF-Root did you use? and did you flash JPY stock first or did you just go directly with the Darkyy's ROM?
Anyway I took the plunge and installed Darkyy's 9.1 Extreme Edition.... But the clockwork mod wouldn't work until I flashed my firmware to XXJPY.... but its all working so all is good.

Question regarding kernel

I am currently on official Froyo 2.2 version. If I want to update kernel based on Froyo 2.2.1 should I update Froyo first (Base ROM + CSC + Modem) or I can update only kernel on my official Froyo 2.2?
How it works? What is difference between Base ROM, CSC, Modem and Kernel?
Thanks.

Again: How can I get my stock JPP rom for my SGS after installing a custom ROM?

Hello guys,
before installing Darky's roms, I had a rooted and OCLF-fixed SGS, with stock I9000XXJPP Italian firmware, build RSJP5.
Then, I tried to look for a stock JPP rom, or atleast the same I had when I first bought my phone... I installed the K9 Rom

And now there is an Italian update for my SGS, with Kies. Many SGS users updated their phones to this 2.2.1 stock firmware, but I don't know if I can update my firmware using this rom I already have (the K9).
If not, what should I do to get my stock rom (I9000XXJPP - FROYO.RSJP5) to install the new 2.2.1 Froyo version with Kies?

[Q] How can I update my SGS to 2.2.1 (Kies, Italian version) having K9 custom rom?

You need the original firmware from the branded network phone for Kies to find an update . It does not work on non standard roms .

[Q]Is this is a difference gingerbread (2.3.4 )and (2.3.5) them ?

Samsaung official website had released A gingerbread (2.3.4) only for middle
east some Europe countries had (2.3.5) or (2.3.6)
Is this is a difference between them ?
and if i want the rom (2.3.5) or (2.3.6) can i put my language to it ???
Probably, if a language is present on a 2.3.4 version, it will be present on the 2.3.6 version as well (unless it was custom installed).
Theoretically you can install any ROM from any region of the globe on your phone, but it is advised to install a local version due to GPS and data compatibilities.
And the difference between 2.3.4 to 2.3.6 a few things... Read the changelog.
I am sure that someone posted a tut on how to install arabic language on a rom. Not sure though if it can be done on a stock rom..
