When I handed my old hero to my sister last year, I took CM6 off, and flashed fresh for her.
I was wondering if there are any new sense roms out now that come highly recommended. I'd like to have her use adw launcher if there are any sense roms with the rosie stripped out.
It has to be stable enough to survive another 6 months without me being around to do updates...
Any suggestions?

If you are replacing the launcher with adw anyway, why not run an AOSP rom like CyanogenMod 6 or 7 or asopmod? If she's going to be without your support for 6 months, then I suggest cm6 or asop2.2. They are both very stable froyo roms. Cm offers more customization whereas aospmod is speedier.

Nfx has the newest update. If you're looking for minimum issues that may be the way to go. Otherwise you may be getting calls that mms messages are not being received. Easier to update prl and profile on a sense rom with a noob rather than have them trying to flash back and forth.

there is a new Liquid sense that just came out, i ran it and it was grand.
and you can just download adw, if you want that.
Cool, i'll look at nfx and liquid.
She would not be cool with any aosp rom... getting her to update a prl/profile on sense is difficult enough.

Okey-dokey, liquid just put out his final on liquidsense, and if im not mistaken, it was built off of nfx.

Good day,
Here's a quick port of Lithid's Elegant Steel theme for #TeamFenix v2.0 and CM6.
For whatever reason, the TeamFenix zip didn't work with CM6, so I made one for each. These are flashable zips, so quick and easy to apply.
I take no credit for any of this. I only know how to follow directions and run scripts. All credit and thanks should go to the people who are awesome enough to share their skills and knowledge with us.
CyanogenMod 6 version: http://dc129.4shared.com/download/AiARr9Qo/ElegantSteelSlide-CM6.zip
- Based on stable release
- Adds Quick Search widget & Vending.apk
#TeamSlide v2.0 version: http://dc249.4shared.com/download/JJ0ES3x1/ElegantSteelSlide-TeamFenix.zip
I take no responsibility if this causes horrible, irreparable damage to your phone. But I will feel bad (Catholic guild, you know). I can also offer no real support. As I said, I merely followed directions and ran scripts to create this. I'll do what I can to make changes.
Backup before flashing. Otherwise, enjoy.

Bootlooped on latest cm6 nightly.

Yeah, I tried the stable CM6 and there were issues. So I guess this is strictly a #TeamFenix theme. I'll port to CM6 when I get home tonight.
Sorry.

OP updated.
Will this theme work on the new CM nightly's or only on RC3?
I am running cm6 nightly and bootlooped. Love the concept. Greatly appreciate the effort. Could be operator error.

I've only tested it on the stable release of CM6. I'm totally little disheartened that it doesn't work. I need to learn a bit more about theming and such.

Don't get disheartened. Appreciate you making the effort and putting it out there. There are not many folks left working on the slide. the concept of being able to flash a theme is awesome. I hope someone can help you out.

Bootloop for me. Like they said there's not to many on the slide anymore. Thanks for the hard work and will try again when stable.

t3mp, are you running the nightly builds or the CM6 stable release?
I flashed my MT3G original recipe with Chromatic 4.5 which is based on the CM6 08-08 Nightly, and after deleting the Chromatic boot animation (which was hard to do...his boot anime is Amazing!!!!), this theme flashed with no problems and is running amazing.
Great Work!!!!!!!!!
Yay! Nice to hear I'm not the only one it works for!
Hey man I just wanted to let you know I flashed this on top of chromatic slide 1.4 and it works flawlesly (the one for cm6) I'm loving it, great work bro thanks n_n

Yay! Another successful flash!
I'm going to look for another theme to try this week.
I flashed and it worked fine after rebooting a few times, but I only notice a difference in the notification bar and only 1 icon has changed, did you all see all the different icons come up? I'm running the CM6 nightly (the stable 2.2.1)
I think the only changed icons are the phone and contacts. I believe the other icons are a flashable zip. I'll try and dig them up.
if you can, i want the theme to his launcher please, looks amazing!
Glad you guys liked it!
CM6 08-08 Nightly
Can someone post a link so I can download this version (CM6 08-08 Nightly)?
I am running cm6-09142010-nightly and my bluetooth will connect and transfer files, but will not push audio to my earpiece.
The android version is 2.2

just get cm6.1.1
I'd just like to begin by apologizing for my noob-ness. Is the 2.2 Froyo with Sense ROM able to be
themed at all? I was wondering because I like the Sense UI and all, but it just doesn't feel like 2.2 for some reason. This also makes me question switching to CM6... Thanks to any answers given.

Get ADW launcher and some Adw themes from the market. Both are free.
Hope that helps.

there are skins available for sense, but none of them look like the standard aosp android.
if you want the aosp android look, i would definitely recommend flashing to CM7, which is 2.3 based.
Ah, okay thanks. I know its off topic, but since CM7 was brought up, how stable is the ROM? Ik its still in relatively early stages, but how is it problem-wise? I've been debating between my current 2.2 w/ sense vs. CM7.

It's pretty stable, if using the latest nightly. The RC1 has its issues.

Everything you need to work works. Its a stable fully functional rom for daily use. I highly recommend the latest nightly. And the theme Chooser built into the rom along with either adw (comes with the rom) or launcherpro (free in market) make it very customizable. in the visual department.

yyeeesssssssssssss are you sure bout
I have cange to 2.3.4 and have some problems to install some apps.
At the moment I go back to 2.2.2 it's ok again
So for my HTC Hero for Sprint, I'm currently using LiquidSense 2.1. And I know that xda has a Sense 2.2. Now I'm looking for the version of sense that will provide the fastest performance. I know 2.2 addressed a lot of speed/performance issues, but will it be better than liquidsense's optimized 2.1 version? And then what about the aosp gingerbread 2.3? Is the fastest of them all?
Just trying to make it through until Sprint releases a new phone this summer Thanks for all your help ahead of time!

2.2 sense doesn't have a working camera and likely never will. For speed, I personally think GB 2.3 is the way to go, or aosp froyo, but with 2.3 you will get more customization options.
Yeah, you will never achieve speeds with a sense rom that you'll get with an aosp one. Sense is too resource demanding.

I also recommended CM6 stable,CM6.2, CM6187-Nightly, there's a CM7 Nightly/Full Official released as well. Haven't tried CM7 Nightly/Full Official yet, but from what I've read it been getting alot of postive feed back. Its on my next to do list. I'm still giving Ginger bread 2.3.3 a spin. I've used CM6 Roms up untill about 3 weeks or so. CM6 roms are great for speed, customization and reliability. Aosp's Gingerbread rom is great for all of these as well.IMO you can't go wrong with either.

I want to try pmgrands rom, but i'm waiting until it's further along. I keep checking back everyday to see how its coming lol. Until then i'm using aosp's 2.3.3 20110307 rom overclocked to 691 MHz, and getting a quadrant score of around 325. I ran quadrant on my mom's stock eclair hero and only got around 200. so about 60% faster.
Is it possible for there to be a HTC Sense Gingerbread ROM? I like Sense and I like Gingerbread. Thank you
well Kifno is making a "gingersense" when it will be done or stable? idk? but what you can do is get AOSPCMod and then download launcher pro and can put a sense like dock background, to make it more sense like. its what i do too, cause i agree with your statment haha
Or heLauncher. It has different layouts like sense and the one in the espresso roms.
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA Premium App
yeah that too, i personally never tried that launcher though =]
but you can follow Kifnos thread to see the development of it or whatever.
itllbe very exciting if he finishes it. Cause all his other roms are just amazing
Awesome
Thanks a lot =D. I'm getting the hero and I want Gingerbread. So i'll download the launcher for now
yeah thats the best we Hero user got (as far as my knowledge) =\
warm regards and happy rooting
I want to jump ship to the fast and smooth 2.3.3 from 2.1, but I really really want to keep sense or a sense-esq type UI. I'm curious if anyone knows a good way to do this through android apps / launchers, etc. And if you've done it, can you provide some screenshots please? Furthermore, has anyone tried or recommend GingerSense by kifno? Thanks a lot everyone who has helped!

IMO This thread Was Not Needed. Just my opinion though.

There is a Sense-esque theme engine theme on the android themes and apps board. I would suggest checking it out. I believe its called NTsense.

There are also a few sense themes for launchers, I think LauncherPro had a nice one
