But you must be changing the wpa_supplicant to get back to infastructure mode, isn't it?

Hello!
Thank you for quick reply.
My Firmware is 2.2
The New Firmware 2.3 Comestibles in March. Then I will flash the phone.
Do you think with the new 2.3 i can make a adhoc Connection?

Yes the one I posted is modified to find ad hoc networks. I use it to connect to my ar Drone. As far as I know 2.3 does not have adhoc by default either.

Hello!
Froyo 2.2 Firmware.
Now Ihave my phone rooted.
Which file Version of wpa_Supplicant can I use. What have i to do after replacing the file.
Greetings from Vienna
I Wang also Steere a Ar Drone.

the one i posted shoudl be fine.. just copy over the orignal with root explorer.. make sure to set system to r/w first or the copy will not work
also back up the original first. in case you need to get back to it.
then reboot to be safe.
once done in wifi you should see the ar drone and be able to connect to it directly..
i use it daily and it is reliable enough that regular wifi works fine an i dont have to switch back and forth.. also with this latest version
no other files need to be modified.

The one reason why that I don't want to buy an ar.drone is that I heard you only get about 10min fly time. Is this true or do you get a better performance?
Also what app do you use to controle the Drone?

got another wpa-supplicant from desire s forum thread. Im on JVQ 10.2 darky.
tried it but It wont always connect to ANY connection.
will try yours and post feedback ASAP

Has anyone managed to fix this issue?
I'm on CM7

[Q] No network connection?

Hey everyone,
I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy S from Sasktel sometime in mid-october. This is the first android phone I've ever had, and after a few days i decided to try to root it. The rooting process went fine and I had absolutely no problems with my phone. However, i eventually decided to try a custom ROM. I went with Darky's Raw Steel Edition from this forum but after i successfully installed it (v2.2) I could no longer connect to the data network. I could still make calls and receive texts, but any sort of internet connection wouldn't work. When version 3.0 of the rom came out I installed it but had the same problem. I thought my best option at this point would be to just restore to the stock 2.1 firmware. I wasnt exactly sure what my phone had been on when i bought it, but i decided that I9000XWJM9 from samfirmware would be my best bet. I flashed with odin, and now I have no network connection at all! Does anyone know what my problem could be? Thanks so much to anyone who can point me in the right direction!
Find your apn settings from your provider or google it and it is is this forum aswell where theres list of them just enter your apn settings for your provider manually.
Go to www.tweaker.com and get the settings for ur network

Thanks for the help! However, I'm having some trouble finding the APN settings for sasktel, if anyone could post a link or something that would be great. And gadgetcheck, I think you gave me the wrong link, it takes me to like a media site with nothing about APN settings as far as I can see.

I am really sorry man!
I actually miss tiped the url in my last post.. Now this url will help u out...

the SaskTel i9000m stock firmware is JH2. If you're going to use a custom rom, use Doc's. That's what I'm currently using, no issues whatsoever (also on SaskTel in Saskatoon ) If you need the apn settings, let me know, and I'll just copy them out for you, but I'm pretty sure Doc's rom already has them, as I never had to add them. Though maybe they just carried over from my JH2 install?

gps, usb, ota problems

Hi all,
I've purchased a samsung captivate from United States and bring it to italy where I'm using with Wind operator.
I'm starting thinking that it was the worst purchase that i've never made.
First of all, I've unlocked at&t sim restriction and it was the only think went fine.
In italy I had time to test the phone and I've noticed the full unworking gps feature: position was never catched and just 1 or 2 satellites was found with low signal.
I'm trying to use samsung kies to upgrade the firmware before install a custom rom but samsung kies doesn't found the phone! (on win 7 or xp the fault is the same.. Mtp driver not installed correctly or kies says that phone is not supported!)
Moreover, updates by OTA don't work because the updated tool fails to connect to at&t server!
I'm really sick for all of that.. The last think I can do is to root the phone and install a custom ROM but I'm afraid that gps still doesn't work.
What do you think about this?

You don't need to update to install a custom rom. So I wouldn't stress too much about it. Make sure you back up the folder which contains the unlock information!! I made that mistake.
Many roms out there try to fix gps issues. For now, many of us (including me) have awful gps capabilities.
Edit, I should say that many roms vastly improve the GPS, so after you've read up on flashing and want to give it a try, it's probably your best bet.
Sent from Captivate, sorry for the brevity.
I don't know if your experience with the original firmware is the same that i have but my gps is not working at all. I can't understand how they can sell a phone with this buggy behaviour.
However, if it does not work also with the new firmware may I flash back original firmware for at&t / samsung assistance? I don't think so but maybe you are more informed than me.
Have you tried installing the gpsjm9 files with clockwork? Makes even stock gps better.

[Q] Ad hoc problem

hey guys
i just installed gingerbread 2.3.3(XWJVB) with nee as csc. Now i cant seem to connect to adhoc networks. used a modified wpa_suppliment when i was using froyo but the same file doesnt seem to work in gingerbread. tried using virtual ap n other softwares but my wifi doesnt support them. so is their some other way i can connect my gigerbread to adhoc network?
nee as csc
NEE is Netherlands CSC that have something to do with it .
jje
does csc have anything to do with wifi networks.
should i try flashing using xeejv3 then?

No i dont think it does but it looks like settings are wrong somewhere .
Think i would just reflash JVB or even try factory reset first .
jje
The csc shouldn't affect the wifi at all. What baseband are you using? There's nothing stopping you from using your old froyo radios with jvb.
It may or may not help

Old Wp_sup file dont work propely with 2.3 roms
you need to connect then turn off the wifi then turn it back on to connect to it
I tried that but no use. My mob does even detect ad hoc networks? is there any new wpa file for gingerbread roms ?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Even froyo wasn't able to connect to adhoc networks "out of the box" - you needed to replace a file (wpa_supplicant) to get this work - look here.
I guess, at the moment it is NOT possible to connect your gingerbread phone with an adhoc network.
Kind regards,
ww

There is still not an update for the 4g yet... but to get back to stock 2.2.2 you just look for the NVflash method... there are two... one for wifi and one for us 4g owners... please don't come back and say you can't find it because it is here and has its own thread
---------- Post added at 05:24 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:19 AM ----------
You can still getback to stock using that method and just download the official EU honeycomb package to your external SD card and run it and have the official honeycomb
It also sounds like you have the UK/EU 3G model, so make sure to recover using that stock ROM. The US 2.2.2 ROM will not work for you - different hardware.
I am pretty sure you can find the EU version at xda.

[Q] 3G won't turn on ...?

I rooted my phone yesterday and when my phone wouldn't boot up the rom I installed, I tried to reinstall the backup I had.
After that didn't work, I used odin to flash a stock ROMI downloaded on the internet and it is working now.
The stock rom I downloaded upgraded my phone from android 2.3.3 to 2.3.6. I don't know if that would make a difference.
So after this was all done, I realised I can't connect to 3g or any mobile network.
Why is this?
How can I fix it?
I live in Ireland so maybe it has something to do with the Stock ROM being from a different country?
Sorry, I am a noob at this kind of thing.
If anyone could help me, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

Hey,
The CSC (what country the rom is from) doesn't matter, I'm running a stock 2.3.6 rom from the UK even though I'm in New Zealand
Try first going into
Settings -> About Phone -> Status.
Scroll until you see IMEI. If this is odd (maybe XXs in the number code or its different), then that explains why your phone can't connect to any network. Maybe from a bad flash- there a tutorials on these forums on how to recover your IMEI.
Also in this menu check your signal status- whether it says "Connected" or "Disconnected" in Network Status or whatever.
Alternatively, go to
Settings -> Wireless and Network -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names.
In here are your APNs- the network "gateways" that your phone connects to for 3G and so on. Make sure these are configured correctly- if not, your provider's website should tell you how to set these up nicely.
Hope I helped
