30MB vs 10MB G vs N - Off-topic

Ok just realised my internet speed is Max 10mb after calling up virgin they offered me 30mb and a new n router/modem..
My question is first of all how much difference will I notice with the speed increase and is a n router really needed for devices like my phone? I mean I seem to get same speed on my wireless devices as my Ethernet connected devices..so just a upgrade to n would be useless unless I upgrade to 30mb?

upgrade to 30mb

Every wireless client on your AP will halve the maximum throughput.
Wireless G Max rate 54Mbps
So get 3-4 devices and your maximum wireless bandwidth will be below your 10Mbps uplink.
Wireless N Max rate is 300Mbps
Do the math here.
Wireless N also has MIMO which will offer better bit rates in more situations/ranges.
Also very important to note that you'll more or less never see 300Mbps on wireless N. FCC rules stipulate 20MHz channels in the presence of other devices, so its more like 150Mbps max. You will almost never see max rate on Wireless G either, but its more likely then Wireless N.

Slow data speeds over WiFi

I've noticed my Moto X gets noticeably slower data speeds over WiFi than some of my other devices. For instance, my Nexus 7 (2013) pulls around 22-23 Mbps off my home network, but my Moto X in the same exact location will only get about 8-10 Mbps.
Is this normal or do I have an abnormally weak WiFi antenna/radio?
Anyone?
Some devices have issues with location services being on, try turning them off and run another speed test

[INDIA] No AC Wi-Fi in Moto G2 (2014)?

Hi,
I am planning to buy this device, but the Flipkart listing shows only b/g/n. Considering Wi-Fi is the only upgrade to the last year's moto G, can anyone tell me whether this is indeed true (i.e. no AC Wi-Fi for Moto G2 India)?
Bump Guys. Anybody?
Yes it's true. There is no ac band support

AHHHhhh crap, I have an AC gigabit router. Any recommendations as to where I can get an AC version. I won't mind overpaying a bit.
Is no Wi-Fi + LTE a hardware issue or just disabled in software?
If you are set on having AC WiFi then you'll have to buy another phone with it, there is no Moto G version with AC at this time, you can get 45Mbit/s on the Moto Gs 2.4GHz N so you'll have to weigh up if you have a need for the faster AC or want a 5GHz only network or you want this phone.
If you're happy to pay more then go for the Nexus 5 stock Android and it has AC but it is double the price.

Thanks, it just seemed unfair to me that they stripped one of the major upgrades over last year's Moto G.
I have ordered one , but this festival rush has made shipping too slow

WiFi strength, range, and throughput

Rate this thread to express how you think the LG V10's Wifi performs. A higher rating indicates that it has excellent range, throughput, and signal strength. Like when you're taking a dump in the bedroom upstairs, do your videos have to buffer or do they come through without interruption?

My cheap samsung has better wifi signal
Good ... but I've had better with an old phone, the Sammy S III
It's odd, my g3 reported a weaker signal but constantly connected. My v10 reports a better signal but the first attempt almost always fails regardless of the app. It was like a 3-4 dB difference between the phones. But when it's connected I've had better speeds with my v10
Very poor compared to my past HTC's
The WiFi connection drops frequently on my V10. It's one of the only things I'm disappointed in. I'm hoping a future firmware update will make it better.
Compared my Note 4 wifi connectivity to the LG V10 side by side, the Note 4 shows a better throughput connection figure.

Amazing. The WiFi 6 with my WiFi 6 router is flawless. Very strong and fast connection.

I have to agree, I have a WiFi 6 setup in my apartment and I can head out to the pool (about 50 to 60 yards away) and STILL get a good WiFi signal out there from home. Speeds suffer a little because of the distance, but it's nice that I can use my laptop out there by the pool too.
This is what I use at home: https://www.linksys.com/us/p/P-MX10600/
I have on Gigabit Fiber as well.

Question 5g speed

My phone tops at 260 mbps. on wifi or carrier.
is this normal?
Depending how close you are to the cell tower, obstacles in the way and how much of the available bandwidth is being used by other customers your speeds can vary significantly.

I'm running 2 Note 10+'s both 4G lte HD*. I blew 5G off until it's better implemented.
I run strictly cell tower support, wifi is completely disabled unless I want a hot spot which is rare.
*my 4G unlimited data plan is grandfathered too, before AT&T jacked up the rates

For Poco M3 Pro 5G, the Wireless AC chip is a 1T1R configuration.
The highest speed via Wireless AC 5Ghz is around 333Mbps for this phone.
While Poco X3 NFC I'm able to hit higher speed as this phone uses Wireless AC 2T2R configuration.
