[Q] another question about unlocking - HD7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I received an unlock code for my hd7 from t mobile and instructions say insert foreign SIM card, my question is what do they mean by foreign? I've tried an inactive t mobile SIM but it doesn't work.

lol well in the wildest sense of the word, try a sim card from another country lol
but i think even using an att sim would do (for your unlocking purpose)
also: if you asked for the unlock code and got it, the whole point is that you can go abroad and still use the same phone
if you want to flash to another rom, then just ask a friend for a non-tmo sim to proceed with unlocking

I am planning on using the phone while on vacation abroad I just thought that it would be better to get it unlocked before.

how to unlock g1 without foreign sim card?

I just received unlock instructions from tmobile, including the unlock code. The first step, howwver, is to insert a foreign sim card. I haven't left the country yet so I don't have one. Is there a way to proceed without a foreign sim card? I had a brand new sim card lying around and I tried using that, but after reboot it never asked me for the unlock code it just booted up into the home screen and asked me to sign into gmail. Any suggestions?
In wich carrier is the phone locked now? Tmo? If is on Tmo, and the sim isnt from Tmo, then your phone is already unlocked...if the sim is from the same carrier than your phone, then you need another carrier sim to unlock it...
He wants to unlock his phone without a foreign sim card. When you unlock, to be able to see the Unlock Code input screen a different sim card than your carriers must be in the phone. He wants to unlock without the second sim card.

You are perfectly allowed to post that, however that is not what he is looking for at all.
Just find a friend with AT&T and borrow their SIM card for the 5 minutes it takes to unlock the phone.
Dang, I used to work for T-Mobile in the PDA dept and never realized this limitation. I don't *know* anyone who has an AT&T phone and am selling my G1, need to be able to get it unlocked. Everyone I know uses either T-Mobile, Verizon or Sprint. I would hate to have to send the buyer the unlock code and have them do it themselves. Almost any other phone has a # code to type in, why not the G1?
Looks like it's not a G1 thing but a T-mobile thing. I had to use another non T-mobile SIM to unlock my HD7 as I am selling it.

The best thing you can do is see if any of your friend has a different carrier sim (IE: AT&T, Verizon, Sprint) and put it in. After you turn on the phone, it will then come up with the box that prompt you to put in your unlock code.
I have a UK SIM card coming in a couple of days, and I have received my unlock code from TMO. I will not be traveling to the UK until September, but want to test the unlock code now just in case TMO messed it up. is there any downside to inserting the UK SIM card in the G1 in the US just for unlocking purposes?
For more input, my phone is rooted, running DWANG 1.6 ROM. I intend to do a full nandroid backup prior to testing, and will also delete quite a few of my apps prior to traveling since I don't want to have lots of data usage when I am overseas. When I get back home I will restore from my backup. Anybody see any flaws with this plan?
Thanks.

Unlock G1

Hi Everyone
Is it possible to unlock a G1 either rooted or unrooted without having to obtain a code from T-Mobile [I was quoted £15]?
There are people on eBay offering it as a service by sending them my IMEI number, are they doing this using an application which generates the unlock code based on the IMEI, if so then does anyone know where you can get the app to do this please?
I bought my G1 last month, unlocked for ATT. When you boot up the phone with a new SIM card, you put in ATT APN settings to use it with an ATT SIM card. When I installed Cyanogenmod, it automatically detected my SIM card, I'd try Cyanogenmod.

That is horrible information. It doesn't work that way.
But to answer the question either it's t-mobile or one of those people on ebay.
Its to easy bro, go threw T-Mobile via their chat tech support, tell`em you want the unlock code for your cell, theyll ask you for some info and in a few days theyll email you the info. I had this big story I was gonna tell them that I was going to Mexico on vacation and wanted to use my phone over there lol but they didnt ask me anything just the info they needed for the phone.
Goodluck

[Q] Official operator unlock code not working - ideas?

Last year, I got an HTC Incredible S and absolutely love the phone. The only thing I did not like was the capacity, so I got a 32GB card instead. I do not know if there is a special procedure to follow when you change the SD card, so I just copied everything from one card to the other. Of course, some programs did not find the data, so that data had to get loaded again.
The phone was locked to an operator in Norway - Telenor, but as I used a SIM from an operator that used their network, I did not need to switch. This year I needed to go back to Brazil and wanted to make sure I could use my phone with my TIM number here. So I called Telenor when it was getting close and got the unlock code. I then tried to unlock it after changing to a SIM from a different network in Norway. But it did not work.
After trying a third SIM card, it seemed to work, so I thought it was ok and the phone had never actually been locked. How wrong was I...
After arriving in Brazil last week and picking up my SIM from TIM Brazil, I found out that the lock is very much in place. And the code I got is not working.
If I was in Norway still, I could send it to Telenor for free and they would fix it, but I am not. So what can I do to unlock it?
The full model as displayed by the phone:
HTC Incredible S S710e
The instructions for unlocking never mentioned anything about keeping the original SD card, but can that be the reason for it not working?
After I changed to the new SD card, the cold boot of the phone is extremely long, but most of the day-to-day operations is ok.
Any suggestions to what I can do to remove the operator lock? I have noticed that there is an official site from HTC where you can unlock some things of the Incredible S. Will that do the job?
I really need to be able to use my phone here. I hope someone out there have an idea what to do.

No the unlock procedure at HTCDEv.com is to unlock the bootloader so you can root and customize your phone. Unfortunately, rooting your phone will not help ou SIM unlock your phone.
You need to SIM unlock your phone which the unlock code should have done. Also the SiM unlock code has nothing to do with your SD card.
You need to contact Telenor and tell them that the unlock code does not work. Or you can try one of the paid services that provide unlock codes for a fee.

[Q] C6906 "SIM Online Unlock PIN"

Hello! I have an unlocked C6906. Recently, after putting in an AT&T SIM from another phone, the C6906 has started asking for a SIM network unlock PIN. However, the phone is factory unlocked, having been bought from Omega Cell fully unlocked. It has worked on AT&T in the past. In order to test if it's the AT&T SIM, I was able to go into an AT&T store, and verify that it is the phone and not the carrier. Additionally, I was able to take the SIM cards I was testing and successfully insert them (and use them) on other devices.
In order to further test, I bought and inserted a READY SIM pay-as-you-go SIM card. Same result occurs; SIM Online Unlock PIN. No unlock code that I can find seems to unlock it.
Help me, XDA community. I've searched the web high and low, I've flashed all stock firmware, I've done everything short of buying a new phone. I'm at wit's end.
Help!

Locked new device to wrong carrier

Hey guys,
I really messed up
So I received a Samsung Note 5 SM-N920W8 directly from Samsung. I need to use a Rogers SIM card in it. Not know if the device was locked or not, I thought I would try a non-Rogers SIM in it... I put in a Virgin mobile SIM and it worked. I thought to myself "GREAT, this is factory unlocked, WOO!" Until a few days later when I put in the Rogers SIM that I need to use in the device, and it asked for an unlock code.
Tried buy a code online for both Rogers and Virgin, no luck. Of course not, since the phone never went through carrier fulfilment
For work reasons, I need to use the Rogers SIM in the phone. Both of which are provided by work.
I never realized the phone would lock itself... I thought this was something only Apple did, where they ship the device unlocked, and it locks to the first carrier SIM inserted. I did not know Samsung did the same thing! Was I wrong in thinking this?
How can I get this unlocked? I'm trying to avoid rooting, as it would trip Knox.
There's no such a thing like sim lock option on any Samsung devices
I'm the biggest Samsung fan
Once you buying sim free device from Samsung it's always be sim free
I thinking you must be doing something wrong with settings
Nope, it's asking for SIM unlock code lol
What to do?
How did you receive a phone 'directly from Samsung'? That option doesn't exist in Canada - but in any event, your phone appears to be locked to Bell/Virgin. Phones don't lock themselves based on the SIM you put in. And why don't you ask whoever you acquired the phone from? If you acquired it legally, this shouldn't be an issue; if you didn't, you shouldn't be here asking for help.
