Columnar File Manager 0.1.2 Released 3/27/11 - Xoom Themes and Apps

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.bauxite.columnar&feature=search_result
UPDATED 3/27/11
Mostly just bug fixes, and file operations should no longer block the ui.
0.1.2 - fixed a rotation bug I introduced
It's my first app ever, so be gentle
Post any bugs found here and I can fix them, any comments are welcome too!
It doesn't support modifying root files, but it will eventually.
Thanks!

Cool! I'm downloading right now to check it out. Thanks!

Definitely a good start. Very clean and intuitive. One bug I found is after going a few folders deep in the sdcard, then using the back button to get back to / pressing the sdcard folder again doesn't do anything.
If a press another folder and then press sdcard it works.
I can give you logs too if you'd like.
Also, there is a typo with rename in the tool box. It shows "renam-e"

Thanks, I will look into that bug.
The rename icon is supposed to be cute.

this is great thanks for this app. This is pretty much the type of file manager I've been waiting for.

nice! Now you just need a smb client so we can drag from shares to our Xoom.

I have now permanently given this app a home on my device. Can't wait to see more features. Please ask if you would like to see anything specific tested out!

excellent
Thats a great app. Thanx for putting it together and sharing it with us.

This is great! Thanks.. How about file renaming functionality?

It's got that, open the Tool Box and drag the Rename icon to whatever you want to rename... it's a tad buggy, it may not show it being renamed right away until you reopen the folder.

Has anyone here had issues opening the app after first installing it? I got a one star review (probably the first of many) that said someone had issue with it.

It is planned, however I want to ensure the file operations are rock solid before enabling it. The last thing I want is something to go horribly wrong on someone's system folder.

Problem I'm having is with the Market download. I'm unable to download the app to install it. I can download other apps yes.

Installed it today, installed just fine. Seems to work ok, good start and thanks for posting. I like the look, fits in well with honeycomb UI.

Very nice! Just installed and it works fine.
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk

Will be trying this today. Very excited.
ASTRO betrayed me, the week I paid for it, it became abandoned (though three Android versions and eight months later, Metago still claims its not abandoned and updates are coming)

Bauxite:
First off, a very nice first iteration!
Now, the things that "appear" to be missing which are keeping me with a copy of ES File Manager - feel free to tell me if they are in here and I just didn't find them:
1) Zip File Extraction into a folder named the same as the file (except for the .Zip of course)
2) Rar File Extraction into a folder named the same as the file (except for the .Rar of course)
3) Ability to see my shared drives on my home LAN and copy files back and forth
4) Integrated Image Viewer
Anyone familiar with scanlated Manga will understand where this list comes from

Looking forward to new updates

NI Adam apps work on Xoom

Just installed the NI Adam apps (Canvas, Calendar, Sniffer) apps on my Xoom and they all work just fine in case anyone was wondering.
I take it they are not available in the market?
Sent from my Xoom using XDA App
No, I got them from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928832
Once you download the files (they are in zip format), just rename them to .apk.

By not being full screen the bottom inch or so is white
Both sniffer and the sketch app are not full screen for me. Any ideas anyone? Also the browser won't install. But otherwise the apps work well and look great.

Do you know if these Adam apps are getting updated as NI updates them? Or are these still the version 1 apps when it was first released? Just curious because many of these had bugs that were fixed a few weeks back.

Anyone care for a Faster 3D gallery.apk, Credit goes to bosina in vibrant forum

Ok, I was browsing the other SGS forums like I usually do and I stumbled across this. So I downloaded it and was surprised just how fast it was.
I have alot of images saved on my phone. From my theming stuff.
This gallery loaded all of them in under 15sec. My original gallery took around 2min to do the same. Anyway check it out.
I take no credit as I didnt create it, I simply found it. I will upload link to original poster if/when I can find it again... I know it came from i9000 gingerbread leak.
Here is the OP's link credit to bosina

This may be a stupid question but does this improve the media scan at bootup?
Nope, just faster load time for the gallery. Awe...some, thx!
I don't know if this is happening to others, but when I open an image then hit the back button, instead of taking you back to the gallery it closes the gallery. It does load a bit quicker.

I know this is a noob question, but here goes: I have never attempted to adb push anything since I always just flash things through CWM. How would I go about pushing this to my phone? I downloaded the android SDK(do I need to download anything else?)
Im pretty sure this is the same one that's included in.the comm rom. I.have about 500mb of wallpapers on my sdcard and they load in about 5 seconds with both of them.

Weird, but it actually seems slower to load than before. But does anyone know if the old Gallery let you set a specific lockscreen wallpaper separate from the homescreen wallpaper(long press image-more-set as)? If so, I never noticed. If not, cool new option!
Edit: reboot helped speed a lot.
Edit 2: Set as lockscreen wallpaper doesn't seem to work... So as far as cool new option goes, not so much.
dammm ive never saw this post lols.... media scanning ive herd also? for media scanning you guys have to get a init.d fix... search for sd speed and it should show upp..
btw bringing an old post is good... others can enjoy lols

sorry to bring this from the dead, but would this work on the g1 or should i hold off? the apk size definitely seems a tad larger then what i see in the g1 roms.

Be sure to download the latest Beta build. The original poster is linking to the Beta 1. As of this posting, Beta 2 is out.
Instead use this link to ensure you download the latest Beta

PS: Thanks OP, the new beta is niiiiice! I was just wondering when they were going to finally get on the ball and optimize one for tablets.
On another note, those who live and die by Astro file manager....another disappointment they haven't done a tablet optimized version yet. I found something very slick called File Manager HD. Very slick tablet ready file browser.
Is anyone able to save received mms? Says permission denied or something like that.

i tried the Evernote Honeycomb beta and it works pretty well. I'm not sure I like the look though. The format of the notes in calander form or with the large letters in alphabetic sort is a bit distracting. Just putting the notes in order would be sufficient.

[MOD] MIUI Camera (No FFC option yet)

All credit goes to Nitroglycerine33, so if you like this, throw him a couple bones. He modified some files to make it work with the X2. I just extracted it from his Eclipse v7 ROM for the X2 and brought it here.
This will greatly increase your shutter speed and make your camera experience much better overall. I found the stock Bionic camera app to be garbage and was sick of waiting 15 seconds for it to focus.
I recommend using this with Gallery 3D. You can still view pics using the Blur gallery, but you won't have any options to share.
DIRECTIONS:
1) Using Root Explorer (or similar program) go to system/app and find blurcamera.apk. Mount system as R/W and rename app. I just added a .bak to the end so I could revert back if I wanted to.
***UPDATE--This is optional. Both cameras get separate icons (my reason for writing the original post as so) and now you can use stock for the FFC. Either way, Nitro said he'll get an update out soon. Maybe if you like this, you can find the thread here about getting him a Bionic. The man makes some stellar ROMs.
2) Download the attached .apk and move to system/app. Change permissions to:
XXO
XOO
XOO
3) Download Gallery 3D (if you wish) - Market link: Gallery 3D
4) Reboot and enjoy!
***You will lose your front facing camera option. I'm going to work on getting that fixed. Until then there is no known workaround.
Again, this is all Nitroglycerine33, so give him credit.
And of course, thank the MIUI team.

Reread the directions. You shouldn't be installing anything. It is all renaming and moving system apps, then changing permissions. Once you do that, reboot and look in your app drawer.

[APP] GSIII S-Voice

*This is not my idea, I'm just sharing it. Head on over to the original thread where I saw this for some more information/support!
Some of you guys may have already seen this one but here it is for those who haven't.
Basically this is the .apk for Samsung's S-Voice taken form the leaked rom of the up-and-coming Galaxy SIII. S-Voice is supposed to be samsung's answer to Siri - but some people have reported that in reality it is just a skinned Vlingo with a couple of extra features!.
To install it:
move it to /system/app (Either by using Root explorer/ES file explorer or adb push voicetalk /system/app)
Change permissions to rw r-- r-- using Root explorer/ES file explorer
Go to build.prop and chnage ro.product.model & ro.product.device to GT-19300
Reboot
Go to /system/app and click on the voicetalk.apk and install like a normal sideload app
Note:
This is for ICS only and I have only tested it on Lord Clockans Ice Cold Sandwich 7.5 Test 9.
You need a data connection for it to work
Links:

Good for you!Thanks for sharing.

Seemingly it'll only work on ICS. Hence the parse error.
EDIT: Trying it on SenseMOD FlashONE v1.3.1. Although it has installed and went through the tutorial, it now just FC's as soon as i try to open it. I'll see if it's any better after a reboot.
EDIT2: No luck. Still FC's immediately after starting.
It's a problem with the lcd density I think because it doesn't work at 240 it works better at 190 but still had force closes it works flawlessly at 160 though and I would love to keep it there if it weren't for the phone APK bug on ice cold
So piece of advice lower your lcd density but this may be problematic on sense roms of course

Here's me running it at 160dpi. The application still has a lot of room of improvement its not anywhere near as good as siri - I haven't tried siri myself! - and it really struggled to pick up my thick Scottish accent. I this could be a problem of the DHD because my brothers evo 3d and my galaxy tab do a much better job at understanding me
First a tried asking it the weather for London and after only 2 tries it got it right!
Then I tried setting an alarm up for 6am it could only get pm instead and after many tries I thought I'd just stick with pm and see what happens, you as you can see it understands what I meant but obviously I wasn't surprised when it couldn't figure out how to actually put an alarm on
Anyway I won't run the whole surprise for you and I'll let you check it out yourself!
