App List - G Tablet Themes and Apps

As I did for the Nook Color community, I have created a list for people to post apps that are working and not. It's helpful to post both.
Please be nice, as I don't require any sign-on or anything....anybody and edit any post...this a community, so let's act like it .... sermon over.
http://sp.texultant.apps4rent.info/MoSo/gtab/Lists/App List/AllItems.aspx
There are other stuff out there...but the Software list will have the most value for people I think.
Cheers!
sudermatt

but I've updated The App List on the G-tab site here.
I've added a very handy GridView for those using IE.
It's pretty useful for searching and finding apps. Anybody can add and edit

I've updated the list again.... now you can add an image URL to show our community what the app might look like
G-Tab App List
Put it to good use!

A Top 100 Android Freeware List

Hey there,
I have tried to gather the best freeware applications Android has to offer, with descriptions, links back to the developer's websites and QR codes that leads directly to the Market. It's about a 100 apps divided in various categories.
I'm curious what you guys think of the guide? Would your Top 100 list differ a lot from mine? I hope some of you will have use for it!
Here's the URL if you want to check it out:
The Ever-Growing List of Awesome Android Applications
If you can think of any more applications that should be on the list, please let me know
Thanks
-- Lars
As a new Hero-user (on my third week now), I must say one thing: Thank you so much!! =)
Thanks! Glad someone liked it, at least
A bunch of new apps have been added to the collection, and if anyone knows of a great app that's not included - please let me know.
Nice work!
There's a quite a few top lists, and some are better than others, both in content and layout, but I always discover some new apps worth checking out. I very much like that the entire list is visible on one page, with short descriptions.
Would like to point out that Think Android's AppManager (both free and pro versions) has been renamed to AppMonster.

Are you sure? Because I couldn't find a free version of AppMonster, but AppManager is still available?
Thanks, helped a lot.

The creators of the app announced the name change on their website: http://think-android.com
"App Manager" has been renamed to "AppMonster" in market a while ago now (but it depends on what country you're in). If I search for App Manager it only shows apps with similar names, not the app by Think Android.
Androlib now only shows AppMonster in some -not all- non-English markets, namely Chinese, Czech, Italian, Japanese, Russian. And even then in some markets only the Pro and in some only the Free versions. I think Androlib is not that up to date.
http://www.androlib.com/r.aspx?r=appmonster
AppBrain correctly shows the app as "AppMonster": http://www.appbrain.com/search?q=appmonster
Far too much use of the word "awesome", but a nice list, thanks for your efforts.

You're right. I was tricked by AndroLib.com, initially, since it didn't show any results for AppMonster when I did a search.
@knightnz I try to use the word "awesome" with caution, but I like to alliterate
I've added a new section to the guide with the top free Android live wallpapers
Did I fail to include any good ones?
Apologies for my criticism, but a pure list is not so useful in my opinion; I mean, there's Google for that.
It would be much more useful if this was a ranking, where users can vote their best 10 apps, for example.
Super great lists. Few worthy ones:
1) ColorDict: Universal dictionary reader for Wordnet, data downloaded to local memory (SD Card) for offline view
2) RealCalc: Best replacement calculator
3) Uninstaller: to uninstall apps. Phone's manage application way too slow
4) KeePassDroid: android keepass for storing logins and passwords. If setup with Dropbox or sugarsync, then can sync between phone and computer.
5) Call History: detail call logs better than what 1.5 offer with ability to back up.
6) Moto Phone Portal : access phone by wifi in same network using browser. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=574677
7) xScope GL : Another web browser with much better functionality. Free version limited to number of favs.
8) Skyfire beta : surprisingly fast enough and only option available to view web based videos until Flash 10 lands.
Did I miss K9 or it's not on the list???
Hi again,
I've done some major updates to the Android apps guide, and it now includes all the top widgets and live wallpapers as well. I've also removed some outdated software, and added blue borders to the very best applications so they're easier to spot.
All apps, widgets and live wallpapers are free
Cheers

My Google Chrome extension "Comment Save"

Hey all,
I made an extension for Chrome users called "Comment Save":
I'll let the description speak for itself. I have personally found it useful for keeping track of my posts on XDA and other forums. Hope you guys find it useful and any suggestions will be useful!
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ndmcbhmmonjkclhmeidccodfhlifmmco
Ever written a large post or comment on a website, click submit, only to see your comment get lost in the internet wilderness? Or your tab/window closed somehow before you could submit?
Or maybe you just like to keep track of all the posts you made on different websites.
Comment Save (CS) helps you keep track of what you have been writing as you type. Icon beside the address bar brings up a window showing you the last post you wrote alongwith a link to the page. Link in the window allows you to view your post history.
You can also filter websites where you don't want any of your posts to be tracked.
Works on sites like:
- Youtube
- Facebook
- Gawker blogs (Gawker/Gizmodo/Jezebel/Lifehacker/etc.)
- Engadget/Techcrunch/etc. (Sites which use Disqus)
- Wordpress/Tumblr
- Forums of all kinds
- Digg/Reddit
- CNN/New York Times/The Guardian/other news websites
- And lots more!
FEATURES:
------------------
* Records your post as you type so you can recover it if you lose it.
* Keeps a history of all your posts along with a link to the page and the time.
* Allows you to add filters so you can disable tracking on certain websites.
* Simple checkbox in the popup window enables/disable tracking globally.
Pretty cool idea, shame firefox is the love of my life haha, will try later though.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Bump. I might make it for FF someday
One last bump
And for Opera

[APP] XBMC Remote7 - An Xbox Media Center browser and remote for WP7

Hi All,
First time posting here, I've been developing an Xbox Media Center remote for Windows Phone 7 as A) It's fun and B) The other available ones are crap.
My app is called XBMC Remote7 and I'm about ready to submit it to the market place, I was wondering if there's anyone around that uses Xbox Media Center and has a WP7 phone (Developer or otherwise unlocked) that would be keen to give my app a go and give me some feedback?
You can browse your media libraries and control Xbox Media Center via a virtual remote.
I have both. are you on gpforums as well?
my device is not developer unlocked so will need to download it from the marketplace.
More pictures (I can't link to external image sites yet )
And that's all the pics
@powersquad Hey yeah I'm a member on GP. Hopefully this will be on the marketplace within a few weeks
cool. can you please update this thread when it's in the marketplace. I use WMC on 360 a lot and have a samsung focus. will provide feedback every now and then.
Does will have a free version?

There will be a free trial version that limits the amount of media items you can view. Everything will work the same as the full version you just won't get all your movies and music etc. in the lists.
Ok that sounds good, if you post a download link I can write an article on our portal
let me know
Here's the free trial version if anyones interested - mediafire.com/?89eda202b9fe9fz
You need Xbox Media Center 10.0 or newer and must have the web interface enabled in the settings menu.
Would love some feed back!
Here attached as well, thanks!
Going to give those a go and I'll report back ... Looks pretty decent from the screen shots though.

How did you get on?
Can you please check the stick for this sections guidelines and edit your OP accordingly?
~~Tito~~
Thanks to some awesome feedback from williammel I've been ironing out bugs and tightening the UI.
Will post up a new build soon and really looking to get this on the market place within a few weeks.
Any feedback is appreciated
It's named 'XBMC Media Center'
Looks really nice! Would give it a try, but I have no unlocked device! So I will wait till its in Marketplace!
btw, hope your app will not spy the phone/owner identity like the other remote apps
I'm not able to test the app, but I'm using the XBMC remote for iOS. And I would love to see some kind of listview for the movie library. It takes to long to scroll through pictures and descriptions of every movie, if you have a bigger library.
Sure thing good idea The long list selector makes this less of a problem on WP7 but it can still be an issue on larger libraries.
The first release will essentially look the same as the screenshots in the first post, but I've already started working on extra "skins" that can be changed by the user that completely alter the look and feel. I'll put in a large library/minimalist skin

Since you mentioned it.. I'd like to see a way to switch from Banner/Poster mode in the app. Basically, when you are caching the image, perform some sort of guess based on the LxW of the image, and determine if it's a banner or poster. And then display it accordingly.
The other XBMC app I have made me switch to banners. Now yours is making me switch to posters. It would be an awesome feature to support both.
I have four XBMC devices in this house and a HD7 that is developer unlocked and running nodo update.

Notes:

Done and submitted to Market Place, i put to links at the bottom, you can grab the version without ads or if you wanna be awesome, you can grab the version with ads.. up to you, i dont judge!
5-16-2011
This version has ads while i test out the app. when the app is complete, the link will go to the version without ads for XDA users.
So this is an app i am currently working on. In the end it will be ad supported, but for now i will be sharing it here.
Once you are in, feel free to look me up : thefro : and say hi!
This is a work in progress, so obviously not everything is in place yet.
Working:
You and others join channels to chat in.
Settings and avatar (synced with server)
Push Messaging
Find people around you
Live Tile
Kinda Working:
All is well for now...
Upcoming:
cosmetic upgrades
All feedback is welcome!!
If you do try it out and run into issues, please let me know so i can fix it!
Usage Notes:
There will not be a list of channels, you will have to join one(by typing in a name), and tell others to meet you there. This is to keep thing private'ish... so you dont have random people just showing up. Most items will have context menus, so when in doubt, long press.
I can be found in channel : "support" - Push is done, so i will be able to catch your messages even with the app closed!
Nightly builds will always be at this link... i will also try to keep them as stable as possible. - No new builds until i need to make changes..
While there are daily updates, check the link often as i usually upload new versions as features are completed.

Hello Everyone, i found some odd bugs that may not let you log in. ( i never uninstall it, just keep updating so i had no idea they were there )
Those are now fixed as well as a few other improvements.
Check the link for the updated version.
Hello again...
I see lots of views, and some people even went far enough to create an account..
Please leave any feedback...
If something doesnt work, or makes it crash...
tell me its a horrible idea, or that maybe you like it and want more...
Well, sorry for the long delay if anyone was waiting... i was out of the country..
Later!
-Edit....
So, i decided to see why there were no users doing anything even though i see new users in the system and the fact that this has a pile of views. Come to find out, people could not complete the new user signup process... so i fixed it and now users can create accounts and try out the app... If you created an account and had this issue, i had to delete your account since the process was incomplete...
Feel free to try the app again, and hopefully let me know of any other problems that may arise.
Now that it is done, this is the last bump... it goes somewhere or it doesnt.

[APP] ToDo Free -[R]- 06.06.2011 -[V]- 2.0

Name:ToDo Free:
It's an awesome free ToDo App. You can access all features for a week (Live Tile, change settings,...), but even after that it's the best free ToDo App available.
What bugged me with other ToDo Apps was, that it takes way too long to add an item. In some Apps you click "add" which brings you to a new page and if you then want to insert e.g. "description" it takes you to another page? wtf? (and why is there title AND description anyways)
So I simplified it a lot, with the attempt to keep as many features and usability as possible.
I think I succeded pretty good at that - give it a try and see for yourself. Please leave feedback on how I can improve the App afterwards.

NICE!!! I just won the XDA Competition with this app!
http://www.xda-developers.com/announcements/wp7-developer-contest-finalists-please-vote/
i really like your app that much, that i decided to switch from oneNote to it.
BUT i have some bug-reports & suggestions:
- after customizing the tile and backing-up the settings, i can't access the settings anymore.
- after the screen is turned off and on again, your app breaks. seems to concern the Application_Activated method, because i can't even access it through fast-application-switching or the back-key.
suggestion:
why don't you let the user 'note their notes'. I'd like to explain:
given is a folder named "school". now it's difficult to distinguish between subjects.
Just let the user add a note to this note, like you did with the urgency, containing the subjectname. Maybe also give the user the opportunity to chose between some colors. This would be awesome for this app I guess.
good luck, hope i could help!
