I'm wondering if there are any themed versions of keyboards running around, or what everybody else is using as far as a keyboard goes. I was using gingerkeyboard, but it looks like it is having some compatibility issues right now for me, plus it is orange. Gross.
There are plenty of available keyboards. A droid X mulit-touch version has made its waves through here. Many people use Better Keyboard and Smart Keyboard, which are both available in the market. I prefer Smart Keyboard for its simplicity and ability to widen the spacebar and also the multiple skins that are available for the sip through the developer's site.
I use Better Keyboard 8, lots of skins and ability to customize almost anything.

Here is the link, source is available.... If I had the experience I would do it in a heartbeat... I hate swype and the stock samsung keyboard.... This is by far the best.

Well maybe this won't be needed, smart keyboard pro from the market works beautifully.

Yeah, I was a big huge JonasL HTC IME mod fan until I got the Tab, but I find in a lot of way Smart Keyboard is better, has a decent skin selection, and is highly tweakable to suit your needs. I actually think the HTC IME was what the developer based Smart Keyboard on, there's so much similarity.
Only thing I miss was the neat build-your-own theme kitchen that was available for the HTC IME.
Download the trial version from the Market and see what you think. It was totally worth the $2.00 or so it cost to me, you may find it works for you too.
Just wondering if anyone knew of any DX multi-touch keyboards that work in the current CM7 builds, specifically Jtt's. I have a few dark ones that fit the Minimalbread theme, but none of them can be pushed in ADB without constant FC's. I miss this keyboard.
I haven't seen much about this. I too longed for this keyboard. I had the DX and the touch keyboard it had was perfect.
I would highly suggest getting SwiftKey...I grabbed it from Amazon App store for free last week...since it was the free app of the day. Definitely a solid keyboard similar to the DX keyboard + more!!
Hey guys,
Touchpal keyboard has just gone out of beta and has been released in the market. Its free until the end of October. Grab it while its free!
I've used many keyboards, including paid apps(swiftkey) and this is the best keyboard I've used on an Android phone. Swypes(they call it curve) better than swype, great word prediction, many options to customize the layout the way you want.
Surely worth a shot, even if your satisfied with your current KB

Good find.
I've been looking for a third-party keyboard that's suitable for the Bionic. I know this device has a higher than normal resolution, so I don't know if some of the more-known keyboards would work properly if they can't scale to the proper resolution. Plus, I don't like the all white stock keyboard layout, I'd like to have something either darker or that can be customized. Anyone have suggestions?
I have been using "Better Keyboard 8" for almost 3yrs.
Swiftkey X, some of the best word prediction I've seen. It scans your old inputs in order to automatically add words to the dictionary, and better predict what you're looking for.

+9001. Best keyboard app I've used. They've got a newer version in private beta right now as well.
I think the stock keyboard is amazing, if you just dont like the colors, you can just edit them in photoshop, theyre just a bunch of .pngs
Try Thumb Keyboard... It has a ton of themes and tweaks to play with, and on a phone as big as the Bionic, having the option of a split keyboard would be great! I use it on my Galaxy Tab and my D3, and love it.

I am really picky on this subject and definetly want something that looks sharp.
The darky keyboard looks amazing. There is a thread started for it specifically that now has an install zip. Huge thanks to Versatile1 for this

Also the gingerbread keyboard in the market looks very good too. This keyboard also takes up the least amount of screen space when portrait.

I actually just changed to Thumb Keyboard. Loving it so far.
The default google keyboard is a little small and i want to try to get larger one. Any App recommendation? Thx
You can try out TouchPal X or Fleksy Beta. I like those 2 the best out of all that I tried.
Swiftkey, no question.
Thumb keyboard is pretty sweet
Swiftkey, hands down.

SwiftKey owns...this has been vetted out over and over on XDA. Google keyboard is marginally improved after the update last week...but SwiftKey is and has always been better. I'm waiting for Google to just buy them.

try Kii keyboard, you can completely customize the layout, make it as big as you want. has swiping and google voice input built in.
I personally use swype. I love the copy paste shortcuts as well as the number keypad shortcut and it's the best for swyping, though it doesn't have google voice input, which sucks cause dragon doesn't have offline voice.
i've heard people go on and on about swiftkey for years, and i've used the paid version of it for a number of months and i just don't get the hype. It got a LOT better once it introduced FLOW, but even then, it's just not as good as swype. doesn't have the swype shortcuts either.
my #2 choice is Kii and i think for your purposes, to make the keyboard bigger, it's the best choice.
Another vote for SwiftKey
SwiftKey hands down.
Flash back to December 2011. After losing my beloved droid 2 with its decent keyboard I upgraded to the galaxy nexus. Fast. Big. Beautiful. Can't type on it, useless. Luckily I had purchased SwiftKey for 10 cents during the marketplace transition.
Immediately hooked. Loved the ease of typing.
Although some days I still crave how my blackberry storm typed. Did it just click?
The photon Q 4G lte is probably the best keyboard I've ever tried though. Sigh. Maybe phonebloks project Ara will address this some day....

I'm with this guy, never really cared for swiftkey, but loved Kii and the stock motorola keyboard
Me like Kii just what i wanted. i prefer to actually type my messages and now that it is larger, i can type better yay! gold star
Seconding Kii, it's fantastic, VERY close to stock, and just customizable enough for my needs.
bought thumb keyboard for my orginal nexus 7 when i was new to tablets its only keyboard i use
I use swiftkey, It's highly customisable since the last update. Kii sounds great too but I never tried. One of the reasons why I use swiftkey over the competition (and even google keyboard) is that it allows you to use different keyboard layouts and languages at the same time.
SwiftKey.. Hate the stupid small stock keyboard.. Since the last update SwiftKey is the bomb... And it has full emoji support built in like the stock google one... ??????????????????
