Now that Honeycomb isn't coming, I wonder if anyone knows any way to emulate the last really important thing the CM7 interface is missing compared to Honeycomb- a way to keep the notification bar on the screen at all times? Has anyone seen it done on other devices?
Agreed. There has to be a way to do this.
look at this thread. Then really start reading around post 80 forward. It is being worked on for CM7 and intergrated into the build.

I've kinda asked into it before and it seems hard.
But if we all got together to raise some ruckus for it it should get done. All the roms coming out are about speed. I just don't see why there hasn't been a rom that attempted to
1. Use the Samsung BeholdII notifcation bar with wifi/gps/bluetooth/+ toggels
2. The Pulse 3x3 canvas
Just things like that.
But then again I could be the only one interested in it.. what do you think?
Icons can be used in anything if they can be sized correctly but certain system apps rely on the frameworks from the specific UI overlay(sense, pulse, blur).
Plus I don't think they're interested in doing that stuff.
I literally have no interest.
None.
Maybe I'll have to see it though.
I've tried the roadsms app on my Aria. It works but due to the size of the screen I'm missing 1/4 of the keyboard. So I know these apk's can cross builds. Could some kind member post the apk to the Captivate's notification bar? I don't know if it would work on Sense UI, but its worth a try! The Galaxy notification is sooooo much better than any other build. I mean, come on this is how it should be. Wifi, bluetooth and gps control is right there!!!
Anyways, someone whos rooted can you rip the xda-community your apk?
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
Here's the framework-res.apk file from my Captivate, which contains the notification bar AFAIK. FYI our doesn't have a GPS toggle though, just wifi/bluetooth/silent/vibrate.
I'm still somewhat new to android so I'm unsure of how you'd get this working on your Aria though. Good luck

Edit:Or maybe you'd need twframework-res.apk? http://www.mediafire.com/?4yter4knnfl1s28
Installing a different notification bar is not an easy process.
There's a whole lot of system-specific things going on with it, so moving the TouchWiz bar to a Sense phone will fail, and hard, perhaps to the point of preventing you from even booting, without some serious modifications to the framework-res.
I would personally like to see something like this. I don't mean with windows logos in it, but something less harsh than stock honeycomb. One idea I would like to see and i'm not sure if its possible but a semi transparent menu bar at the bottom. If anyone is interested I could test it after I root my wifi xoom. Also if anyone has any ideas they'd like to see in a windows inspired theme drop them in here.

are you gonna make it ??? or are you wanting someone else to make it?
We need the AOSP to drop so we can have an updated smali/baksmali for apktool before any changes can be made to the SystemUI.apk, which defines the status bar color. I can't even change the clock color yet, which is frustrating.
A transparent status bar would be nice, actually. Better yet would be a status bar that went away when swiping down off of the screen, and returns when swiping up from off the bottom.
I couldn't make the theme, that is why I put it as a request. I haven't the slightest idea where to begin. I put the thread up to see if anyone else felt the same way I did about the stock appearance of honeycomb, it's a little too...digital? I kinda like the colorful icons and aero theme that windows has. I don't want to see a windows theme per se, but something that has elements taken from windows 7. Just my thoughts and ideas.
I've recently been trying many of the great themes for CM7 and one thing I notice that bothers me is a transparent notification menu. I strongly prefer a solid one.
This got me wondering if I'm the only one? For me it just seems cleaner, less distracting to have it solid. Since I can't interact with what's visible underneath what's the point in seeing it? Not saying it's wrong just a difference of opinion.
Anybody care to share your preference and why?
I've preferred the transparent forever but since gb the solid has grown on me some....
I really love the transparent drawer. I started on solid, but I literally won't change ROMs unless I can get a transparent notification drawer. It's just a cool aesthetic effect.
I must say that the transparent drawer did look "cool" even though it served no real purpose.
However, I am starting to get used to the dark, solid, drawer on CM7 Nightly's now.
Would be nice to have the option though.
I'm not sure if the option is still there, but it used to be part of the back ground color setting - just slide the alpha to the left...
I found this picture on stuff.tv and after digging through everything I can possibly find to use to customize my homescreen on Android Lollipop, I'm honestly not sure if there's anything that lets you change the status bar and soft keys in this particular way.

So is it a mock-up? Or is there actually something like this out there? Anyone have a clue?
My apologies if this is the wrong forum for this, I'm not sure where else it would fall under
That's possible, I've been out of the game for too long now so there's probably newer easier ways that I know nothing about but it looks like tablet mode on paranoid android rom to get the bottom status bar with the rest built using something like Zooper or klwp etc etc
Am I showing my age mentioning pa or is it still going?
