HP touchpad

Hey to all that are interested HP touchpad is now $99 for 16gb and 150 for 32gb. I know HP has discontinued them but still a good price. I have called staples and walmart and they have some left in my area.

Hopefully they'll get Honeycomb on it.

it would have been ipad killer if they priced it at $99 so sad....bargain if you can get honeymoon to work on it but thing breaks or battery dies. U r screwed...

Anybody think it may be a marketing ploy to flood the market with them? Just a thought. Called every where in the tampa bay area. Sold out gone.

I picked on up at Best Buy on Saturday (the day they re-released them for sale). 16GB for $105 with taxes. It's a great device. Even with webos on it (which means balls in Spanish BTW). Got it for the wife, but wish I had gotten two.
Also, there was a system update on it this morning. They must be pushing out the last of their support for it.

I went to every Walmart, Staples and Best Buy for a 50 mile radius and no joy.
The Best Buy manager in my hometown is being a real jerk. Supposedly they have like a hundred of them in the back but he refuses to put them out on the shelves for a 100 bucks a piece.

I believe it's actually "huevos," which means "eggs." But it does sound like "webos" when you hear it.

Dell Streak 7 worth $100?

I am on the market for a good tablet, is the dell streak 7 a pretty solid device? I owned a dell streak 5 previously and it had lots of issues with random reboots and such, even on the stock ROM.

A buddy of mine had one he wanted to get rid of the other day. I picked it up for 100 and gave it to my 6 year old for his birthday. He's been happy with it so far.
Running stock HC on it. It does really well with most games, better than any of my phones. The battery life on it has been not the best. Had it less than a week now but I would gladly buy it again for 100.
Some of the quad core tablets announced at ces starting at 250 look a lot better though.

Lol I picked up one for my kids and I really like it too. I put stock Honeycomb on it and I have no regrets.

Given the opertunity to buy a DS7 for $100.00USD yes I would buy if I knew it was in reasonable condition and was functionable. Iam very pleased with my DS7 and since I have another complete otterbox defender case (which was a freebee) collecting dust right now, it's a no brainer, I'd jump on it.

16gb nexus 7 discontinued?

Well I was stupid and pre-ordered from Wal-Mart.com. My order status stated it would arrive today but that it hadn't shipped yet. I called their customer service and they said they had to cancel my order because my item has been discontinued from the distributor. Called gamestop and they said that not only are they out but they were told today they weren't getting anymore...anyone else heard this?

Google were shocked by demand, they though it would be like the iPod touch where the cheapest model sold the most- they got the opposite.

Sounds like they're tired of answering questions at Gamestop.

I heard Asus is refusing to make anymore until those that have suggested it would have been better to have Samsung or Motorola make them instead, apologize..
In other news, it could be a national holiday in China, like it was during the long wait for the Notion Ink Adam, where employees agreed to continue working during New Years celebrations instead of going on their yearly vacation to see their families. Perhaps this time they see no benefit and refuse to skip theirs..
Second wave 8/30 or still waiting on the SD (street date) of 8/05?
NOTE: I called my Gamestop, they didn't have any, she offered to look in the computer to see which stores nearby had them in stock. Went to one and exchanged mine on the spot.

My Gamestop called me today to tell me my replacement came in.

I also ordered from Wallmart and checked on my order yesterday they said that it was ready to ship today. Than today I get a email and was told that they could not ship it yet. This was after they told me that they had them!

Well I don't need to apologise as I said in the other thread stores could have had a faulty early batch but didn't say I agree with changing manufacturers
Anyway, others just have to wait and hope they come out okay

Yeah, I think at the price point more people went straight for the 16GB. I know I did, I didn't even consider the 8GB.
Honestly though with either model and an OTG cable and a little root work, storage isn't really a limiting factor at all. People who really want an N7 and can find a 8GB now should scoop one up.

It's not discontinued as mentioned, probably just temporarily out of stock. In Sweden we seem to only get the 16GB version sometime during September. I would have been fine with the 8GB but it doesn't really matter to me either in price or storage.

They might have stopped to address the screen and creaking issues. That's just a guess though.

I stopped by a GS the other day to see if they had any accessories for the n7, they didn't, but when i Asked them if they had any n7's the employee told me you had to have preordered one to get one and they wouldn't be getting more.
Doesn't mean Google isn't making more' just means GameStop won't be selling them.

Even if they halted distribution, there's no way it's being discontinued. I really doubt that any Walmart rep has his or her finger on the pulse, and the Gamestop guy only said that they were expecting shipments but now they're not.
It is possible that Google wants to put a hold on things until they reign in the build quality.

Yeh, but that was a total flop and only started selling in the fire sales after it had been discontinued. This on the other hand was a massive success and sold-out everywhere,

yep, i saw it a few days ago tho. as a father currently going through a nasty custody case for his son and also already wanting one..... after seeing the commercial i bought a Nexus 7 the next day.

Nice Well man, from one father to another, I'm sorry for your situation... I couldn't even imagine going thru that with my soon to be 2 year old daughter. I do hope you get to use it with your kid. Have fun.
But anyway, I haven't seen the commercial on air yet, but I saw it on Engadget a few days back. It's cool I guess. It wouldn't make techy people like ourselves run out and buy it, but since it's aimed at the average Joe, its a decent commercial. I'm surprised how popular the N7 is without advertising! I hope they start to run 2-3 different commercials, and really show off what the N7 can do...and at the end, throw the price up on the screen.

Its a great device ( I sold my Transformer Prime to buy the N7) and it's the first Android device that I think anyone can pick up and just use.

Thanks, my son turned 2 on the 7th. Today will be the first time he gets to see his favorite schools bus app on the big screen..lol.

Who else bought the 7 for the wife......

and the wife actually LOVES it My wife gets annoyed with my geeky approach to devices, including rooting, etc. I bought a N7 for myself to use for work and she was eyeing it a little, so I got the last one from Office Max for her birthday. I was nervous about her reaction, but she LOVES it. My devious plan to get her to give up her iPhone 4S at some point is slowly taking shape :angel:

She inherited the old nook color. But I would totally buy her one if she wanted it.

My GF has an iPad 2 along with an iPod Touch... so there's really no hope for her. I did, however, buy a Nexus 7 for my parents and they like it a lot. I've simplified the screens to the bare-bones of what they'll be using it for... maps, translators, etc for traveling, game folders, eReader folders for Mom, sports links for Dad, etc...
Then, I went and bought one for myself, too.

My GF fell in love with the Nexus 7 after using mine, so I gave it to her... Then bought another one for myself. :angel:

Sold off my A500 and my wife's archos 101 and iPhone 3g and used the money towards 2 nexus 7's!
She loves the thing and is enjoying movies more than anything on it!

I have never had a tablet before, and my girlfriend has had the Kindle fire since Christmas 2011.. I didn't want to buy one for myself and leave her hanging with her Kindle, so I told her that I would buy her a N7 if she gave me her Kindle fire (to sell and pay the difference). She loves it. I do, however, feel bad when I take a look at her device and see it all bogged down with tons of random apps such as "cake maker"

My wife lasted about 3 days after seeing mine.... selling her Kindle Fire to get a Nexus 7. Most likely going with the 8GB, she does primarily online stuff, not much storage.

i bought my own. men are too needy. and want to play with my tech toys. but most of my friends would love this over a smart phone for most device's.

My girl is very smart, built her own killer gaming PC, and can converse intelligently on about any subject. It's baffling how she fell for the iCult. I just smile, say nice things about the screen, and inwardly chuckle when she can't tether off her phone, plug in external storage, or do so many of the things we Android folk take for granted. I might just give her a Nexus 7 and see if that lures her away from the Dark Side of the Saint Steve Devoted.
To be fair, her first experience with an Android tablet was a Xoom running 3.0 ...and we all know how laggy and clunky that was.

I quickly got tired of sharing mine with the family so my girlfriend and six year old daughter now share one. It is mostly used to play minecraft by the six year old at the moment.

Talked grandma into an 8GB N7, due to her Coby Android tablet having a resistive touchscreen and generally a lagfest.
Then after setting up her apps and homescreen on the new N7, I decided I needed a 16GB.

The wife normally gets the hand-me-downs (which are usually brand freakin' new devices lol) but this is my first tablet. I hid it from her for a few days because married men know what it's like to get scolded for buying new toys. But instead, she loved it and proclaimed that she wants one!
I'm so proud of my wife!! I always flash CM nightlies for her and she advocates Android and CM to anyone who mentioned anything about smart phones. She's converted a few Apple fans over to the Android platform too. I'm excited to get her a N7!

My wife is getting my Nook Color. But since I am running MIUI, I did at least put a very frilly theme on it!!!!

I bought a Nexus 7 for myself and my wife is super jealous! We're selling our 32gb HP Touchpad with CM9 flashed on it so she can get a Nexus 7 of her own.
My evil plan of filling our household with Android devices continues to take shape... Now all I'll need to do is to convince her to go Android when she's up for her mobile renewal
