[Q] Removing root

Ok I read a lot about rooting and tried CF-root. Now I figured I'll revert to an older stock XXJPU with pit etc. Won't that remove root and completely wipe my phone? Or do I have to revert to the original 2.2 that came with my phone?

Log onto samfirmware.com and take your pick. Just stick to the intructions and you shouldn't have any problem.

Log onto samfirmware.com and take your pick. Just stick to the intructions and you shouldn't have any problem.
You don't have to revert to the original 2.2 - go for the 2.2.1 (JS5) and you won't even need any lagfix.
Flashing will remove root and will wipe your settings and apps so don't forget to backup.
Enjoy your SGS.

Yea I've flashed it with JS5 now (with voodoo lagfix) and it's very responsive.
I'm experiencing some force closes on certain apps though.. Either way it's the best phone I've used and indeed a very fun gadget.

(Q)P1010 how to flash back the stock rom apps?

how can i reinstall all the stock apps ,eg phone,media..from the recovery mode?
becase i deleted wrong apps , so it lead the P1010 dead...is it using the update.zip can install back the stock app??

Have you done a factory reset? I don't really know but I'm pretty sure it will install all the stock apps

[Q] Changing ROM plus rooting plus other apps

Good day. My name is Renoux. I have a South African Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 on the MTN network but currently using Vodacom Simcard.
I am so new to flashing and rooting and there is just TOO much info to go through on this site and also any other. I am even more clueless now than I was before after reading about it.
I would like to do the following:
1) Backup everything on my phone (will the app I'm going to use still be on my phone after reset? do I need to download again and my backup file will automatically be added? Will I lose some data?)
2) I want to use a ROM called Paranoid Android. the one I have is pa_n7000-3.60-11JUN2013-053741.zip
3) How do I uninstall my current OS? I am using Ice Cream Sandwich version 4.0.4 with Baseband version N7000XXLRB.
PDA: N7000XXLRI
PHONE: N7000XXLRB
CSC: N7000OJVLR3
Build info: Wed Jul 11 19:41:13 KST 2012
4) What are the programs that I need to download? for both my PC and the phone to get this done? could you maybe include links please?
5) Do I root after or before installing the new ROM? using what? how?
basically, delete everything on my phone, after backing up the most important stuff, delete ICS, install paranoid android and then root it for full use.

If you want to backup everything like app+data then you can use titanium backup pro but you need root for that.. I usually provide links but as you are too lazy to read what already exists and will be there till next year for sure (just saying).. Search for philz kernel on google for n7000 and download .zip for kernel corresponding to your rom.. Put it on ext sd.. Press volume up+power+home button and you will get stock recovery from there use the volume down key to choose install zip from ext sd and press power button to select. Once done you will have brickbug safe kernel and root. Now you can install titanium backup pro and backup all the apps+data (only non system apps recommended). Now once you are done go to paranoid rom thread and read the instructions there for how to install.. If you want to install ics or even jb for any other country you can do that using pc odin or mobile odin.. Search for dr ketans stock rom n7000 in google and you will get all the stock rom to download with how to.. If you ever install stock rom again you will have to root again using the same method as mentioned above to be able to use tbp and restore apps with or without data..

Here is how to do it.
Root your phone. There are a lot off info on YouTube on hire to do. Here is one example: http://goo.gl/UWgl6
When rooting, you do not lose any information on you phone, by when changing rom you do. Therefore, use titanium backup pro (yes, buy the pro version) to backup your data.
When rooted, it is also very easy to install a new rom. My suggestion is the Stunner rom. How to install a rom is also very simple. Here is a video to show you hire to do it: http://goo.gl/Df72h

Thanks for your help. But i want to know, which one do i download? There is more than one philz kernel and im not sure which to download for my phone? Sorry for being an idiot.

Is there a way to do a complete backup of all the original files on my optimus 4x, so that if I install a custom ROM and I want to revert to the original state of the device I have all files needed? Prefferably this would be a one-click procedure...?

Please search next time. As already mentioned try the backup option in cwm if you don't know what cwm is you probably shouldn't mess with ROMs as of now and read a whole lot of basics.

if u have a stock rom , u really dont need to find a way since to use those backed up apps, u need to have the stock rom. u cant backup a stock app and force it to work to a custom rom just ike that. not even the little widgets dont work that way. so just use the lg pc suite to save a complete backup unless u know how to decompile the apps , make them to work to custom roms and recompile them.

Quick way to flash stock rom and root it?

I keep keep switching between roms and having the stock rom seems to be the mid point. So was wondering if there is a way to flash stock rom (latest) and root it. Like in samsung i use to flash the stock rom via Mobile odin and that app had the ability to root while flashing..do we have any similar way to do it?

No. ..and do not even bother your self to ask more question about it, there is no way around, the only way is the one which you already know, like in my signature.

keep a backup on your sdcard and just restore it, no need to flash stock, downgrade, install recovery, install pre rooted rom.
Once you have root and recovery, just restore backups....
