Hello, l use cardio trainer app since I bought the phone 3 months ago. It is very useful app it worked nicely (well I never got gps lock).
However 3 days ago I flashed new rom (Revolution HD from 3.1 to 3.2 with full wipe) and the pedometer stopped working with the screen off. For 3 months I used Cardio trainer with the screen locked and off and everything was ok (I got avr speed, distance, steps...) Now I can only use the timer.
I flashed back to 3.1 - no good. Flashed with full wipe 2.0.15 - no difference. The pedometer doesn't work any more. When the screen is on, pedometer works fine. I uninstalled the app, reinstalled it, no difference, only that I lost my goals.
I know that the accelerometer doesn't work when the screen is off, but how the pedometer worked perfectly for 3 months?!
Can anybody help me?
Thanks!
I have a similar issue, but with Sleep as an Droid. Screen off/Accelerometers on seemed fine on Rev HD 3.1 but not working on 3.2 (or 3.3).
BTW, Which radio are you using now?
I haven't tried going back to an old radio yet as I don't really need Sleep as an Droid so not too fussed about it. I'm currently using 12.41.60.19_26.06.04.14_M, but the sensors were working with 12.35d.60.140f_26.06.03.24_M2 (and Rev HD 3.1)
Maybe changing radios might help?

I tried 12.35d.60.140f_26.06.03.24_M2 but no difference
Thanks anyway!
edit: I tried all radios (took them from the radios thread), the accelerometer still doesn't work. So I think this is not connected to the radio.
update:
hmmmm, after one-two weeks without accelerometer in standby (but still daily using cardio trainer for timer and logs) something peculiar happened today. I went for a run, as always no accel. only time. After 30minutes I took a break for 5-10minutes, cardio trainer was on pause (after 30 minutes - 0km/h, 0km, 0steps). But after I continued my run after I turned the screen off, the accelerometer started working! With screen off! Actually I got very accurate distance and speed. The gps was on, but I never got a gps lock. Also I noticed a very nice feature, I can pause the timer from my hands-free (play/pause button).
After the workout I tried again (new workout just shake the phone with the screen off), the accelerometer didn't work.
I haven't changed ANY settings, no wipes, no re-flashing, no nothing. Out of the blue sky it started working. Tomorrow I will try again and report.
Any ideas?!?!
Give Runkeeper a try.

Anyone using the smart alarm?
If so, are you rooted (which rom)?
I'm playing with it and it appears that when the screen goes dark, the accelerometer shuts off, thus it doesn't pick up movement.
I tried this on two different ROMs (SuperD 1.9.3 and BlueMagic MK.II) with the same results. I set it for 5:30 and it goes off at 5:30 (failsafe, I'm assuming).
I set the screen to no timeout, and this morning it went off at 5:22, so it seemed like it actually picked up movement.
My brother uses it on his G1 and seems to work fine, but I wanted to know if any other MT3G or Magic users are using this app.
thanks for your share.
Hi all,
just wanted to know whether you experienced any GPS improvements after the update?
Mine seems to be functioning a a lot better, however, it turns off by itself after like 10-15min of use. The little satellite dish disappears and I lose GPS tracking even though the GPS is turned on in the notification bar. I have to turn it off then on and it starts working again but it's annoying as hell.
Anyone else experiencing this?
GPS test
I used it today for about 1,5 hour, while driving.
It took a few minutes to start up. It was pretty precise in nav mode.
I lost the GPS signal one time, where I also lost the data connection. (At the time i was also playing with the phone.
Over all a good experience.
Tried yesterday, found satellites instantly, can keep gps lock, but still have some accuracy issue.
i used it on the way to work today with track booster and it seemed much better
however i tried again on the way home to test and lost data connection
once you loosed connection you dont seem to be able to get it back you have to restart the phone which is annoying
i will not say its fixed untill i have used it more and got consistant result
Just as bad as ever here, not locking many sats and still keeps losing them.
I can def use the phone for turn by turn navigation now, which is a massive plus.
But after working flawlessly for a couple min, it loses the GPS connection and doesn't even attempt to reconnect.
I then switch GPS off, then back on and it's working again.
This has got to be a software glitch.
still very bad. sometimes it simply cannot get a lock at all. this happens away from buildings and under clear sky. sometimes it gets a lock instantly but loses it quite quickly.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I have the feeling that my gps is now with froyo better. Now i have more sattelits but works good enough with eclair.

Better, but still unacceptable.

66 secs first sat fix.
Locked on 7 sats.
For me, waaaay much better with Froyo.
used mine on the way home from work and was a little better but still jumped around when stationary
Like many other Captivators I've tried all the GPS fixes and nothing really ever worked very well. I flashed Apex 10.1, changed SUPL settings to the Google server like I always do, but still no real improvement. A few days days ago I thought I'd screw around with the General settings and try out the different Operation Modes (I've always had it on MSBASED). None of them did much except the Standalone option. Now my GPS works almost perfectly with gmaps. I get 15ft accuracy and it doesn't bounce around like it used to and I get an initial lock within about 10-20secs. I've been trying it out every day since Monday to make sure its not a fluke and doesn't degrade over time, but so far its been great.
This kind of goes against everything I've read in these GPS posts since last year. Is my phone just weird or has anyone noticed this also?
Have you ever tried Heathens GPS fix? Search it out, after installing change a few settings in lbstest.
Operation mode MSASSISTED
Accuracy 40
Then delete data.
Now, download GPS status from the market. Let it dl it's data. Then check maps. I had locks down to 5ft in less than 20 seconds, maintained 5ft lock at 60 mph.

Just tried it out but no dice. It was really strange when I used MSASSISTED though. It got the first reading for the satellites then GPS would turn itself off. Tried it out with GPS Test and still did the same thing. Tried it with MSBASED and STANDALONE and GPS stayed on and it jumped between 5 and 15m, 7-9sats.
For some reason, tilt to wake stopped working. I have no idea why. It was working fine yesterday morning in the metro, but stopped working during the day. The watch is paired with a HTC One M7, running a stock Sense ROM. I've converted the phone to GPE back in December and the watch worked well, but now I reinstalled a stock ROM because GPE was draining my battery real quick and, again, the watch worked well for a couple of days, but now, nope. I tried resetting the watch, but no result. Is there any other way to figure out what the problem is without reinstalling every piece of software? I mean, I'd like to test the sensors to see if they have a problem or smth and if they turn up to be good, well, I might contact Google cuz something's not working. Yes, the tilt to wake option is enabled in the companion app.
So, does anyone have an idea of what I can do? I couldn't find any info on any forum
Thanks in advance :3
short version my proximity sensor and my gravity sensor on my droid turbo 1 both malfunction at the same time and there's a delay sometimes from hitting the power button to when it turns on during the time my phone is acting up and after a factory reset i'm lost on how to fix without paying $150 to replace since my warranty is out any suggestions would be great
GPS works fine though
I have a droid turbo 1 and have recently had an issue that survived a factory default reset. I've searched quite a bit online and saw a possible solution, but it has not been going so well trying to apply it. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=816131 a post by D0cStrange worked for that user although he had a different phone so i'm not sure it would work the same but my problem is quite close to his. my phone wont auto rotate or use its proximity sensor most of the time and will heat up and crash seemingly at random. other apps will have 2-5 seconds of lag in even the simplest of tasks such as typing the third letter of a word in messenger it will just wait for a few seconds then show all i have typed. the built-in app called device help has a fix tab with a hardware test for sensors while all others are fine the proximity sensor and gravity sensor do not show any results at all yet sometimes when it does work both sensors function correctly and it shows normal readings its always both at the same time and when they fail there are no readings at all just grey in the empty bars. during my testing i disabled google play services which instantly let my phones sensors work again for a short while (which led me to believe its software or memory related somehow) but as google play services control pretty much everything in my phone i re-updated it and the problem stayed away for a few days. when it returned i tried to disable google play services again to see if it was directly related but it didn't work round 2 yet earlier today for no reason when i pulled my phone out at work i saw the screen lit up with the time the sensors worked fine for about 3 hours then stopped again and i had not opened or closed any apps during that time so i have no idea what it was doing normally i have been having to hit the power button and wait 3-10 seconds for the screen to light up so i can see what time it is sometimes hitting the button works instantly other times it takes quite some time
i have factory reset the phone (which worked for only a few hours then after the issues started again i just installed my normal apps again while i try other options i have reset all app preferences i have even tried dropping the phone from 3 feet (yes that sounds stupid but it worked once after reading a post online i was willing to try nearly anything shy of the microwave) i have also tried a few apps one called GPS status which said it would automatically fix any and all errors showed all 0's for where the pitch/roll fields and accel also a 0 but the most of the other GPS functions looked great and all other tests in "device help" worked except for the 2 which always work or do not work both together
