Hi
I have a rooted SGS. Amazing....
Compared to a workmate's HTC Desire. I prefer mine in every aspect except one: browser...
HTC has an auto text reflow feature while in SGS I have to double tap after a pinch zoom to fully relow.
Is there a chance to get this even through a modified apk or something???
It would be really great to have such browser...
Thanks a lot...
any idea?thanks again-....
Do you mean the "fit to screen" option in the optionscreen from the browser?

I've already ticked it.
From a general view, if i double tap I get a medium zoom correctly formatted.
If then I perform a pinch zoom, text is not reformatted (doesn't fit) until I double tap again.
In a HTC desire when you pinch zoom text is automatically reflowed without having to double tap which is much more pleasant and practical.
My SGS is stock JPY plus voodoo...

I use xScope. Totally deleted the stock browser.
i am missing full screen browser from cyanogen as well. i tried dolphin and xscope, but i like the stock brower so much more. we have to wait till cyanogen before we can get full screen on the stock brower for froyo.
stock browser is far better than all others and faster on froyo.....

I can't understand why people like xScope so much. I do like some of the features but I find zooming to be horrible compared to stock browser. Multitouch zoom is very buggy compared to stock. This would is forgivable given the pin zoom feature except that resizing text doesn't work as well as stock either.
Additionally, double tap zoom doesn't work as well as stock either. The only way I can get satisfactory text resizing is set the initial page zoom to 1.5 - 2.0 which makes pages difficult to navigate.
I am just missing something? I really want to like xScope.
I'm using Dolphin HD in fullscreen mode. No notification bar, hehe!
Is theer any way to get the stock browser into fullscreen without the notification bar?

no, not until the source code is relesed from google and the ROM cookers can get their hands on it to make those changes.
Any updates ? Heard that google already released sources.
I join waiting list for this feature

I <3 Cyanogen
Hello,
Before I updated to froyo 2.2, I could have sworn that I was able to pinch to zoom at a larger view. Once it was at a large view I was able to double tap my screen then all of the text would fit on my screen at that large view.
Now when I double tap it, it either zooms a bit or goes back to normal size. Anyone else face this?
Thx in advance

I find the same issue. I think the issue is that im not doing it properly to autofit the words... It would be nice to have a tutorial for all the gestures in android...
Hey guys,
after trying all the different browsers out there I find the default browser fulfills my expectations best. The only thing I find annoying about it is the fact that it doesn't resize the screen to fit when you zoom in either by double tapping or pinching. I remember my HTC Desire, the browser would resize the screen on pinch to zoom which was really awesome. Is there an option to activate that? or is there a browser from other roms that could work on SGS? I already tried a couple and they all FCed. Any help would be appreciated.
It's in the settings; auto resize text.

Try to clear cache of browser app.
Hi,
What are the major changes in Gingerbread when compared with Froyo? What are the changes one can notice?
I've noticed that the App Drawer is now 4x4 based like the Galaxy S, except it is vertical based and you slide like an iPhone App Drawer, except vertically, the app drawer is also organized by the tabs below the drawer. (All Apps, Frequent, Downloaded)
A new mirror app.
Most widgets have a little visual change.
The OS is faster, more stable.
The notification bar now has two tabs, one for notifications, another one for Quick Settings, which allows you to toggle Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS etc.
The Battery Use screen is changed to a more detailed look (Added a graph).
Startup time is faster. (From Cold Boot)
In the Gallery, pinch zooming is now buttery smooth, not laggy anymore.
The weather animations now has sound effects added to them. You can turn the sound effects off.
Smoother weather animations.
That's all I've found.

The update notification states that "it will not clear any content on the phone".
Are all your contacts, call logs, sms messages etc still there after the OTA update?
Or do i have to backup my stuff to somewhere. . ? Hmm..

you don't have to back anything up. it updates everything without any deletion of apps/contacts
I would have really wished for there to be a sound profile option in the new quick setting feature but well, would just have to use the quick setting application.
In addition, the Camera app has a little change.
Now you can switch cameras without accessing in the hidden menu.
Video Recording now adds Stereo Recording, which uses the Dual Microphone technology to record sounds in Stereo, and it seems that the video recording in HD is now smoother, I think it is around 28 FPS to 30 FPS.
In Photo Taking mode, The menu has Auto Enhance added, which removes more noises, but keeping the photo in high quality.
Is there any change to the standard HTC keyboard? i.e. still have arrow keys on the right (in landscape mode), long-press on every key for alternate characters...

Mind taking some screenshots of the camera app and posting a video that demonstrates the Stereo Recording?
I wanna see how the Video Audio Quality is now as currently it sounds like a tin can when recording.
Thanks!

Can someone tell me of a good program to edit photos using the spen? I have a photo in my gallery, I deleted spen and it brings up the pen. BUT, I cannot zoom in on the photo because when spen is active any screen touches are read as pen writing. I tried zooming in and then spen, but when you active spen the photo zooms back out. I'm sure there's a way to do this but it's alluding me.
Workaround for zooming and editing using s-pen

hey man, if you found a solution to your problem let me know...meanwhile all i can suggest is a workaround.
1. download quickpic from google play (need this as the default gallery app shows up the menu whenever the spen is brought near to the screen)
2 open any photo in quick pic.
3.take a screenshot of the photo in full screen mode using ur s-pen.
4.when the screenshot is automatically opened, you can edit it using the s-pen
5. to zoom in use pinch to zoom. you can still use the s-pen on the zoomed in image to annotate, draw, etc.
6. when u zoom out, whatever you have written with the s-pen will also zoom out..
7. save the screenshot.
i don't know how the resolution will change if you use a screenshot of a photo rather than the actual photo, but it seems to work well enough for me.
have fun and if you do find a solution to actually zoom in and edit photos without taking screenshots, please do reply back here.
regards,
unless I'm misunderstanding ...
1. open s-memo, create new memo
2. click the photo icon (to left of microphone icon on the toolbar)
3. click "picture" then "gallery"
4. select picture to edit
5. adjust aspect if desired using arrows then tap outside image to fix
6. use pinch & zoom to zoom into a section of the picture (if you do this smoothly there should be no mark left by your fingers, but if there is, just click "undo" to remove it before proceeding)
7. edit zoomed image with s-pen as desired
8. save or export once finished
note - above only works if you have the "s-pen only" option in the settings menu unchecked - otherwise your pinch & zoom gestures will be ignored.
