Disabling the docking function in 2.2 - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any way to disable to docking app the runs in android 2.2? Its forcing my screen to go to landscape mode and opens the home dock app even though its not docked.
This is not an excelorameter issue. The excelorameter works fine!

once you have opened the dock app, you have to hit the exit button or it will keep coming back on.....it doesnt just run all the time

I have totally removed the home dock and the car dock from the phone since i thought that was what was causing my screen to go landscape and not come out of it. It was actually the built in Dock app thats part of android. I was hoping someone knew now to totally remove the app from the system.

LOL. There isn't a 'built-in' dock app that runs. Especially in captivate/i9000 roms.

Yes there is its known as Home Dock!
Ok I flashed back ot Eycar Last night, then upgraded back to froyo. I am currently running full stock rom with all the ATT bloatware. For some reason after a day working fine, something has chnaged the flippen home button to the stupid new home dock! Also my screen now is stuck in landscape mode!
There is something totally messed up with samscums release of froyo and I have had it! This **** must stop!
I want to totally remove there home dock app but some how they have integrated it into the operating system. This is what I am trying to remove! Or is this there way of saying use a custom rom!

there is nothing 'built in' and it has not been integrated into the operating system. desk home is an app. if you have launched it one time, even if you press the back button, it will keep coming back after you hit the home button. open up the app again and hit the EXIT button. car home is the same way.
think about it. if this was true, dont you think there would be 5000 threads on here stating the same thing that you are???
there isnt so its something YOU are doing on your phone causing this....i really dont know how to be more clear that this magical 'home dock' doesnt exist in the OS....its an app. you EXIT it after you have launched it, instead of using the back button....

How to Disable the Car Mode?

Hello Guys,
before Froyo it was possible do "disable" the Car mode by deleting the CarHome.apk.
But since Froyo, if you delete this apk, the Phone still switches to CarMode in the CarDock....
And maybe thats a reason for the loudness problem in the Cardock...
Does anyone know how i can disable the Carmode Completely?
thanks a lot
Install "dock nothingness" from market.
Also you have posted in the wrong forum. If it is a question, it goes to Q&A forum.
ive noticed as well, since 2.2 i havent been able to adjust the audio when it is docked in the car, is that just me? I use audiomanagerpro but i also tried to adjust the media volume from the settings menu as well
I'm so happy to KILLED the evil Car Mode - here's how
Car Mode would pop up constantly on my HTC Incredible 2. It had nothing to do with the usb. Most times, the phone wasn't even plugged it and Car Mode would still pop up and Yes, I could click on it and disable it. For about 5 secs, then it was back. The worst part was that it would force-close the program that I was in to launch. It took me about 8 hours of research. Car Mode is a system app, and therefore can not be removed like other applications. You have to root your phone then delete, freeze or rename. Ok by me, but rooting apparently isn't stable yet for the Incredible 2 if you have a later os version than 2.2. Guess what? I have 2.3. No problem, how do i revert. Oh, i find out, you can't without resetting the phone to factory, which by the way is what verizon support suggested. I thought not before I back up, but lo and behold you can't back up more than contacts and pics without rooting. Arrrrgh! Next, I looked for an app to help me battle this devil Car Mode, so I tried apps from Amazon and market:
Advanced task killer Free
Astro
Gemini App Manager
Dock Nothingness
Dock no-op
Disable car home
and NONE of them worked, at least not for the Incredible 2.
I had a new idea, if you can't beat them, join them so I installed the latest version of Car Dock Home, hoping that at least it would give the option to not launch. Nope, didn't work. Luckily, I'm good at my job just because I don't give me 'easily'. Anyway, finally on my 14th try, I used 'DockNothing Free' from Amazon. At first, I didn't think this worked either. There was no input screen or settings but that's because the app doesn't initiate until the Car Mode launches, then it allows you to choose to select DockNothing as the default program. I had to do that 3 times: 1) Car Panel 2)Car Dock 3)Home Dock. Now I actually see a little popup that says 3 tasks killed. YEA!
Sorry for the long post, but I'll bet if you're here, you are going crazy because of Car Mode. And I read a lot more than just this much to get mine fixed.
ps. Car Mode actually looks pretty neat and seems useful IN THE CAR. But I have been too afraid to release the monster to check it out. I might at the next update. Might....
interesting, i love car mode in the car, no idea why yours is coming up while not in one lol
patience, htcdev website just released the unlock bootloader over the web for the uk sensation today, should probably hit for the other htc phones soon
Im having the same issue here on a desire z.. The Dock nothingness and simmilar applications doesn't help with the "car mode" at all
it just replaces the "Car Home" App
It's the "Car Mode" that is the problem for me atleast.
when the phone enters/exits car mode the phone always returns to the homescreen.
Any progress on disabling this?
I got rid of it on my Desire by adding a shortcut to the homescreen and choosing Settings > Car Dock and then unticking Auto Launch. I never saw car mode again so it either fixed it or it was a coincidence.

Bedside Dock keeps crashing

MAHD
Official desk dock.
Apps constantly running:
-Battery Widget Reborn Beta
-1Tap Quick Bar
-My Data Manager
-LiveWare manager (getting smartwatch any day now)
i connect my MAHD to the dock and the menu for the docks pops up. the Office Dock and 3rd party docks work fine, but for some reason the bedside dock crashes and shows "Unfortunately, Smart Dock has stopped." I can sometimes get it working by restarting the phone while it's in the dock. it crashes very easily (just turning the phone to vertical position).
I like this dock and i wish i can find a way to make it work.
please someone help.
p.s. also had light flow lite running before and i think it messed up my accessibility stuff because talkback turns on with anything else turned on, i've since had the app removed.
thank you for anyone who spends their time helping me.

I have this issue too, it's actually the last couple versions of Google Play Music that is causing it (it's integrated in the dock). Reverting to Music version 4.1.513 resolves the issue, with some caveats. Uninstalling the Music updates will cause your settings to be lost, and furthermore it breaks syncing capabilities (music is missing in the account settings) unless you fully clear out the data. You will need to re-download music you had marked for offline availability as well.

Ah thanks for the solution, been fighting this before bed every night for a month now. Something about the bedside clock just makes it better than the standard one. Luckily I don't have any music or even much to sync so I'll give this a try.
Here is a link to a thread with the .apk for Google Play Music 4.1.513
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1533816
I just installed this version, hopefully when I get home to my dock tonight it will have solved the crashing issue. As of last night, even rebooting while in the dock couldn't get around the crashing!
It seems that the latest update of whatever fixed the issue for me.
I'll have to update. Last night when I put my phone in the dock I got the message again, even with 4.1.513.
I'm now occasionally having a problem of it going into a black screen and not loading, but no longer having the stopped working error message
I am having to reboot every night.
A couple nights ago it powered down and wouldn't power back up. Was giving some sort of recovery error, a picture of the green android guy on his back with a hazard sign over his chest (if I remember right). Eventually using some combination of holding power and volume buttons I was able to get a clean reboot. Had me stressed out for a while!
I really miss being able to pull a battery for a reset when things go funky...

That happens to me on occasions, I usually am just irritated by it, but i do try to hold the power and volume buttons to reset the phone and get a clean boot.

Oddly enough, I used the bedside dock every day when I was visiting family over Thanksgiving, and several days at work after coming back, then today I plug it into the dock and have this issue occur. Rebooting did not help. I also cleared data on "Motorola Dock Service" and "Smart Dock" which has helped with similar docking issues in the past. As others have pointed out, the other dock types seem to work fine. I just checked Google Play Music and the last update was on 11/12, so I'm not sure what changed and why it was working but will no longer work. Strange.
---------- Post added at 10:42 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:34 AM ----------
I wonder if the SmartActions app could be related to this issue. I know it updated on 11/28. Is there an alternative bedside dock application that contains most of the functionality of the Motorola one? I know Gentle Alarm is dock aware and the built-in Alarm & Timer app. I like the autodimming of the Motorola one, but if I can't launch it, it doesn't do much good.
---------- Post added at 11:00 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:42 AM ----------
Aha! See post 7 (and my reply in post 8) in this thread on Android Central. Essentially, Motorola Tech Support suggested the person clear data for Google Play Music, although my solution was to actually start playing a track.

Desk dock no longer in app menu

Desk dock no longer appears in my menu. I can load it from smartactions when charging. But cannot switch back to in from the app switcher either as it does not appear there either. Is this the case for anyone else.
---
I haven't rooted the device and its running the standard European Jelly bean update.
Everyone still has desk dock in their menus?

nope. I noticed the exact same thing. I use smartactions to bring it up when charging the device over night. But the ICS dock is no longer in the menu. I looked through the phone for some time and could not find the program to directly start it.
Thanks for the info. That's a shame as it was quite useful to switch programs at work.

[Q] Note 3 screen wont turn off

As stated, screen will not go off via timeout or power button tap. Power button is recognized and will bring up shut down menu like normal.
Device is rooted (thanks DG) and had been running well for over a week. Defrosted all apps from tibu in case I got over zealous but no better. A factory reset has not cleared it up either. Hoping the oneclick from the root package will correct the issue, but thats not until I get home later this evening.
Has anyone experienced / recovered from this issue?
Smart stay is turned off
I've had noticeable lag like a few seconds and sometimes I wonder if it's going to shut off but it always does. Better set a dark lock screen wallpaper to conserve your battery

I know this is kind of basic, but what is your setting here:

Thanks for the thoughts.
I had already gone through the standard - double check the settings, remove recent apps. When all that failed and a factory reset still didn't clear it up I was beginning to worry about some kind of hardware damage (don't see how since I treat it better than my child ).
Fortunately the one click from the root seems to have restored proper operation. Back to rooting and rebuilding!

I'm having the same problem, I rooted through vroot.... what do you mean one click fixed it little my incite would be helpful....
thank you
Mine just did this, scared the hell out of me It also didn't go into deep sleep before it started. (Not rooted).
Pulled the battery, waited 30 seconds, plugged it back in.... same thing. Waited a few minutes, seems to have sorted itself out.
Scary....
This is definitely a software bug and it is related to the Headphone detection bug that people are having too (it's actually the same bug causing both issues). This happens to me quite often after I restart my phone. It's kind of like the phone hangs during the startup process. I've also noticed that the wifi/bluetooth status that was present before restarting the phone (i.e. whether they on/off) doesn't get applied until the bug sorts itself out.
For me sometimes this works: open an app like Chrome and then hit the home button to get back to your launcher. This works 95% of the time for me. I'm wondering if it has something to do with not having Touchwiz set as the default launcher.
I'm experiencing this same problem. If I don't manually turn the screen off by tapping the power button, the screen will not timeout.

Google now animation when pressing the home button after using Assistant or Androidto

So here is something that I'm having since day one and it's puzzling me.
From time to time, after I use Assistant or the Android Auto app (standalone, not connected to a car), the phone will start doing the colored Google dots animation every time I press the home button (not only when press and holding to open Assistant).
Only way to stop it is restarting the phone.
Anyone knows why's that?

Guys I thinks it's wise to remember that Huawei is not actually true android. Hence the reason why Huawei does not pay a single cent to Google. With this always in mind you have to always expect glitches of some kind. And let's not forget that with the different regions in the world, there are going to be slight differences with the firmware as well, even if the firmware is meant to be the same.
Make no mistake, Huawei is awesome!!! The mate series have the best hardware I think, out of all the brand's, hence why they are phablets but again, you still have to expect glitches. So as far as functionality goes, their not like Samsung, but their pretty bloody good enough. And with my mate 9pro, I'm going all out on it as I know the hardware can handle lilo boot, normal phone mode and windows 10....as soon as I get round to it that is lol.

1- what's is "true" Android for you?
2- what do you know about the licensing of Google services for certificated devices?
Anyways, going back to the topic. If someone is having the same issue lemme know.
