[Q] Can't open settings window - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. I've been using my phone perfectly but I installed LauncherPro Sense Mod and changed my kernel. I don't know what is the problem because I have used both sense mod and this kernel (SOK 4.8.3) before with NO PROBLEMS
but now I can't even add widgets or activate/deactivate many things. If I try to access to the settings it just shows me the home launcher.

I have installed ADW launcher on my samsung galaxy s running darky's rom 9.2.
the problem i am facing is , when i make changes in the settings of dock bar, they dont take place.
for eg i choose 5 icon dock bar instead of 3 , when i come out of settings it still stays 3 only and not 5.
even for themes when i select a new theme previously the themes icon pack used to get changed and it used to use the custom icons of the theme. it doesnt happen now .
i tried installing and uninstalling the adw launcher but it still doesnt work.

[Q] Locking the homescreen layout

Not sure if I'm overlooking something simple or whether the feature doesn't exist but is there a way to lock all the widgets in place once you have got your homescreen set out the way you want it? I'm sick of keep accidentally moving or deleting stuff when I drop my phone in my pocket before the screen has turned off.
I know there is an option in CM7 to do this but is it something that is a native android function or is it something that ROM devs would need to incorporate? I've tried searching for something that does it on the market but I just get swamped with lockscreen apps, and not screen locking.
Hi!
I'm using CM7 + Go launcher EX. Locking home screen layout can be done by pressing menu button (while you in home screen) -> more -> lock screen.
CM7 default launcher have same functionality, as far as i remember.
regards.
Yeah, I know it's available in CM7 but I prefer the sense interface so that's why I was wondering if this is something unique to CM7 or whether it is hidden somewhere within all android systems.
It's a functionality of the Launcher. CM7 uses ADW Launcher, you could install this on your sense ROM.

OK, thanks for the replies.

HOLO Launcher Help

Morning!
I've installed HOLO Launcher as I prefer it to the Stock ICS launcher, All runs smooth but I cannot for some reason, Get the Grid settings correct so when trying to add widgets I just see "No more room available on homescreen"
I used LP Previously with settings of 5x6 and 5x8 without issue but nothing is working with this...
Anyone using it successfully that could give me a heads up on the setup they're using?
Cheers
Guess it must be the Sammy widgets that don't play ball.. Installed SimiClock and Accuweather runs - Nevermind..

[Q] Lockscreen settings

I'm on ARHD 20.1 and I would love to have a cleaner look on my lockscreen and remove, the clock as well as the defaults apps which are in my dock. It used to be you could edit and choose the apps that are displayed in the lockscreen but now i can only edit the wallpaper.
Any ideas ?

The only way to remove the apps on the lockscreen is to use a different launcher and remove all apps from the dock in Sense before switching to the 3rd party launcher, or, don't have any apps in the dock if you want to use Sense. With regards to the clock on the lockscreen, the only way to remove it is to use ViperOne ROM which has an option to disable it by way of a built in Mod (which I did ask the Dev about releasing it as a standalone Mod as I don't want to use Viper, I had no reply though) ... The other workaround is to delete HTCLockScreen.apk and use the default, Android lockscreen, this has issues though such as having to unlock to answer a call, no message notifications other than in the notification pulldown and same goes for missed calls ... The one positive though is you would do away with the weather and the apps on your lockscreen, and, btw of running some command in terminal, you can enable the ability to have different widgets such as cLock which lets you change colours and depending on your wallpaper, would allow for the possibility of having no clock (purely by having, for example, a black wallpaper and setting cLock up so that the fonts are black, this would essentially hide the clock from your lockscreen.
I use Apex Launcher but I edited a lot of apk's icons manually and they are incorporated into my ROM, same with Mods. I edited icons, menus, alsorts lol to get it set up right and flashable in one go rather than flashing loads of different Mods, it looks the same on Sense does mine btw as the icons in my dock are actually edited right in the apk rather than just chaging them on Apex ... It looks like this:

How did you remove the carrier name?
Hi,
is it really impossible for the moment to have a normally-working lockscreen or "no lockscreen", that does not eat the battery on HTC One?
I have noticed by "OS monitor", that even if I set "HTC no-lockscreen" active - idlescreen process keeps accessing my phone constantly and eating the battery, because it accesses WeatherProvider all the time! I don't want to use weather at all while my phone is locked and besides, I have a third-party Elecon HD weather app that I do use.
When in my custom ROM I set AOSP lockscreen as active - I have to unlock my screen on incoming call and alarming, as described here.
Just want to make sure: no any solution for the moment - to MAKE HTC lockscreen not to access weather service to save battery OR to customize side-lockscreen so, that it would auto-unlock my phone when alarming or incoming call?

Homescreen wallpaper stuck?

Using Alliance v8 on a g900a. Upgraded to 5.0 using muniz 's method.
After the install everything has run great for several months... Until today.
I was messing around with my theme and somehow got my wallpaper stuck.
I've tried changing the wallpaper directly from the homescreen, from the android settings menu, and the alliance control app settings, but nothing I do has any effect. I am however able to change my lockscreen and sview wallpaper with no problem.
I hate this stock wallpaper and I put a lot of time and effort onto theming my phone so this is driving me crazy. Any ideas?
include screeners of my settings menu, and of the alliance control screen if that helps:
1st pic - the horrible wallpaper I hate
2nd - the wallpaper I want trying to be set through settings
3rd- my alliance control settings page incase I have something set wrong here
*edit - btw, i have made sure to restart phone between changes just to make sure. Didn't help
