Loans - Off-topic

Ok I have a question about getting a loan. Is it possible to get a $5000 loan if I have over $1000 as a down payment. I don't have a cosigner that's 21+. Everywhere I go it seems like you need a cosigner 21+. I work also make about $950 a month after taxes. I'm also in college with loans. Any help would be nice and I've tried Google answers were 2+ years old.

Loans are based on individual circumstances and risk.
You can always use Dodgy Dave's Personal Loan Service. He works out a warehouse down at the docks.

Paypal SUCKS

Ok guys so I sold a few things at the end of last week, was able to take payments fine. Yesterday I tried to transfer the cash to my checking account and it went fine. So I wake up this morning and am on my way to get to the post office to ship everything off and I decide just to check paypal for some reason. Amazingly I see that paypal has reversed my withdraw and permanently suspended my acount. So after 3 calls I was able to get everyone's money back to them.
What I want to know is what is the best way to accept payment NOT paypal? Both Amazon payments and google checkout say that the first payment can take between 2 weeks and 60 days. And I don't want to wait that long obviously so what are the other options?
That really sucks. Did they give you a reason for locking the account?

It may be from a lot of activity on your account. They locked my account once and I called and they said in the last 3 days I had did over $1,000 transfers and that was fishy/questionable....so they just lifted the hold and I have been good ever since than.
Do you have a personal account on paypal or a business account. I think that makes somewhat of a difference.
Also I think a lot of people have been successful with bank transfers.

just get started on your first amazon payments transaction. after that it'll be quicker.
Even if you find a better way, in a month or 2 you'll at least have a backup option.
Paypal and ebay are starting to piss me off too. Thinking about quitting ebay altogether.
I have a pp business acct (not sure how, but i do) and haven't had an issue like this.

It was definitely over $1000 but they gave me no option to explain anything they said my account activity was suspicious and therefor closed my account.
And about bank transfers, might as well be Western Union. Who on here is really going to do that?

Ya I quit PayPal so that means I automatically quit eBay since they only allow PayPal.

I figured it was.... that happened to me about 2 months ago but I just logged in and they had a hold on my funds so I called and spoke to a supervisor and he said it was suspicious activity and I said I had money coming from reimbursements blah blah blah and they lifted it and said make sure u have a note when u do such transactions.
Bank transactions are sorta like Western union. I only seen one transaction done with that. The closest Western union to me is a hr away.

I'm surprised they didn't give you a call. I too had done over $1000 in transactions in a matter of days. A representative called me to see what was up and I explained to them what was going on. Didn't suspend my account.

Just go to serve.com and check it out.
Ha. I agree with the title of this thread so much.
After 2 deals on here with only $200 dollars involved, they randomly canceled me. Forever. Permanently. For no reason.

I am not sure about the shipping cost because I don't know how big/heavy the Zero Lemon will be. But I am willing to pay the shipping. We can do it without going through eBay, just paypal. I'll pay you paypal fee too plus time and effort.
PS.
Are there any other Australians here? Maybe we can bulk buy and divide the shipping cost.

OK, we have 5 orders now. That is enough for the now, don't want to put too many as it would be too risky.
I want to make this as easy as possible for the American XDA member who will be kind enough to help us by sorting out as much as possible the financial and shipping business within Australia.
So here is what I think we should do.
at the moment $1AUD = 1.03 USD, so lets assume it is equal to make it everything easy.
Step 1. Have all the Australians buyers deposit money (bank transfer) payment which include Zero Lemon plus the shipping cost from the States and monetary incentive for the American XDA member to me. Those who live outside Sydney should pay additional $8AUD so that I can post the battery to you after it arrives from the States, otherwise you can pick it up from my Parramatta residence if you live close by.
Step 2. I will then transfer the total amount to the American XDA member.
Step 3. the American XDA member will order the batteries off Amazon and ship the batteries to my address in Sydney.
Step 4. I will then post out the batteries for the rest of the Aussies that live in other Australian citise or a organise local pick after I receive them.
So this way, the American XDA only have to deal with one person and one payment, which is me and I will deal with the fellow Aussies.
So all we need now is that American XDA member volunteer, I personally prefer a MOD or a Dev member or established XDA member, because the amount of money that will be involved, Thanks.
Im in canada and use comgateway.com its pricey for one person but if theres a few being ordered should be ok. Plus theyll give you a quote up front now
Sent from my SGH-T889V using xda premium
One thing y'all should be aware of is that UPS, Fedex and such have regulations against shipping batteries. You need a bunch of paperwork including MSDS from the manufacturer. I couldn't ship a HD2 battery to my dad in another country because of all the paperwork I would have had to go through. It's much easier for the manufacturer to do it because they already have the paperwork on file.
Now, I'm sure you'd be fine just mailing it and not telling them it's a cell phone battery since people get on planes with cell phones everyday. But they could easily seize it and penalize you if they wanted if they found out.

[Q] Dealings with Costco Wireless (Membership Wireless)

So, I was doing some shopping at my local Costco yesterday and noticed an HTC One demo at the Wireless kiosk, they were listed as $159.99 on contract, came with a HUGE accessory pack, had a 90 DAY return policy, and after some prying I was told that they have 7 white and 6 black :victory: IN STOCK, so I am thinking of getting mine there.
What I am asking for are your experiences with the Costco Wireless kiosk's (activation, purchase, returns, etc.), because it just seems to good to be true.:fingers-crossed: Thanks in advance.

Return period as far as upgrade reversal like it never happened is determined by Sprint at 14days purchase date is day one. Costco may allow exchange within 90 days but not full return and reversal.
When I ran a Sams club mobile we had pretty much same policies. Also it's been my experience in the most places like that the associates aren't as knowledgeable as they should be. So just be careful and ask lots n lots of questions.

At most you will end up paying 36$ upgrade fee on ur next months sprint bill. And yea ask questions. When I got my phone at sams wireless the rep told me the phone was a 16gb.... yeah not much diff than walmart mobile lol. thats what i hate about the cellular people getting hourly instead of commission. on hourly they have no incentive to learn anything. just stand there and take an order. "would you like fries with that?" i feel like commission makes the rep want to know more than the "other guy." also commission makes it more likely to get better service from the rep bc if they treat u badly u return it and they lose their commission. however quite a few commission paid sales people ruin it for everyone else by f'in people. all in all ASK QUESTIONS & DO RESEARCH its a 2 yr commitment and a fairly large purchase.

BUDDY BUYING THREAD for the Nexus 5

As the new Nexus 5 is only available in some country`s through the Playstore it would be nice if users we`re willing to order a Nexus 5 for those that have no access to the Playstore and are forced to pay a lot more in local stores. All personal conversations are off course private and are to be dealt with through PM or Email.
Please sign up here if you want to particpate and post your location (Country and City) so users can contact you. It would realy only be fair that the participants deserve a (small) compensation for their efforts..
It would be even better if XDA started a thread/service like this
Post your country/city in this thread or PM me so i can post it in the OP which would be better and easier

But for those who are uncomfortable with all this stuff, comgateway can help you buy the devices or you could ship the device there and they will reship it to your location using DHL.

What type of compensation are people willing to provide outside of the shipping costs?
This sounds like a terrible idea to be honest.
Not to bring my cloud of negativity but you know somebody is going to do the wrong thing and ruin this for everybody else.
Charge back scams, people pocketing the money and not sending the devices. etc etc.

Noted the price you might pay to have it imported might be not much more then what it would cost locally. If you get the 32gig version at $400 the final checkout price will probably be about $460 after tax and shipping. Then add the cost of shipping overseas and you're nearing $500 if the person who does this doesn't charge you a fee. If your local retailer sells the 32gig version for 500 euros then is the extra savings really worth the potential of being scammed?

Scam at XDA Depot

This story is about a "PureVPN Lifetime Subscription" that was sold at XDA Depot - that ceased to function.
TL;DR
Pay close attention to how products or services are marketed at XDA Depot. Wording such as "lifetime" can be too good to be true - i.e. deceptive marketing by dishonest sellers.
The story (so far)
When XDA Depot support was contacted about the issue, they concluded that the PureVPN Lifetime Subscription had expired and offered the option to purchase an alternative "Lifetime VPN subscription" - why would anyone buy a similar deal that has proven to be a scam?
After some e-mails going back and forth, they offered the option to re-enable the PureVPN subscription for two years - and if the deal was accepted, the claim for the initial "PureVPN Lifetime Subscription" would be terminated. This offer was refused as well.
XDA Depot support slowly lost interest in the case, hence I reached out to general XDA developers because this is a scam that is not good for the reputation of XDA - that very reputation being the single reason the deal was even considered in the first place. Even though the XDA site claimed legal issues were very important, perhaps this issue wasn't big enough to spend time on. So, no reply from that channel.
Next steps?
So, the XDA Depot support nor the XDA general contact, has proved successful, what would then be the best way to process this issue?
I had this problem also but had a good experience solving the problem.
When it was time for me to renew the lifetime subscription at PureVPN I emailed them and the replied that they simply stopped offering the lifetime subscription and that I should contact XDA depot and that they would help me.
Wish I did right away! They answered within 48h offering me a new lifetime subscription at keepSolid VPN unlimited + $20 gift. Until this day(2 month passed) it works great!
I'm don't know if I was just lucky or whatever but I had a good experience
I too have run into the exact same issue. I purchased a lifetime subscription that also came with other offers as well. The subscription worked for about a week and has not worked since. I have reached out to both XDA Depot as well as real VPN still with no reply. I have been a member of XDA Developers Depot for several years and I've also been a member here for several years. I've never not one time had an issue quite like this through these two websites. In fact everything I've ever gotten through XDA and XDA developers Depot has always proven to be exactly what was promoted until now. I would really like to figure out an alternative to the situation because I am someone who uses a VPN quite a bit daily and have pretty much lost faith at this point hoping somebody from XDA will read this and actually help. Thanks again I look forward to someone's reply
I have a very similar story about "PureVPN Lifetime Subscription" and XDA. Please keep away from any "Lifetime" subscriptions here as it looks to be a common issue. "Let's give customers 5 years subscription, they will forget to extend". When you will remember to open a ticket to support before your subscription expires to extend it for another period, you will not get an extension as agreed before in the "deal".
I warn you...
