This is the best stock kernel ever made for the sgs, it includes root. You have to enter the custom recovery when the kernel is flashed to root, but I've used this kernel a ton of times.
http://touristinparadise.blogspot.se/search/label/Samsung Galaxy S
cf root has to be used for some roms, but if you get the latest "VALUE PACK" rom then the 17.2 kernel from this site will be easy to flash with odin/heimdall.

Samsung forum always give a frickin' answer. I have this issue before, when i have stock Gingerbread 2.3.4, althrough the WiFi doesn't have password (free wifi ), the WiFi won't connect.
Well, solved by installing CM9 (the old one with camera bugs, lags, etc). Installing CM7.2 also helps !

Update recovery? Ok bro. can you please tell Which is latest recovery version is available for samsung galaxy note?
and can i just flash new recovery file directly from my old recovery ?
You can flash forest kernel afaik. Then reboot recovery. From that you should be able to flash your ROM... Always read first.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2739044
That kernel comes with Philz recovery.
Gets overwritten while flashing your ROM. Updates should be no problems from there. As always, I'm not responsible for any problems. Always have a working backup ready. [emoji6]

Question regarding root on 5.1.1

Hello everyone,
I have a t810 running 5.0.2. I would like to update to 5.1.1 but I am unsure because of rooting 5.1.1. This seems to be a bit more complicated as I would need to flash a modified kernel before flashing chainfire root, correct?
But this is not why I am unsure. My problem/question is the modified kernel I need to flash before rooting.
Looking through the forums I found only one such kernel which is from September last year.
Now my question is, isn't this kernel outdated? And wouldn't I need a current modified kernel when I want to root one of the latest 5.1.1 Roms?

The kernel isn't required any more. Just flash the latest supersu beta v2.66.
Make a twrp backup before flashing anything.
Just a small update. I flashed the latest 5.1.1 and twrp via odin, then flashed supersu beta 2.66 from within twrp and both root and xposed framework work fine.
