Hi all,
I have flashed CyanogenMod RC2 on my Nexus one.
I wanted to change the Icon and the background of the FM app and I have done by replacing the files in the apk.
a) Is it legal to re-distribute this modified FM.apk?
b) How do i make an "update.zip" file that replaces just the images of the application?

how difficult is it to port a theme over? i really like Reefermattness's Darkness theme (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=813497) - but with as vivid as the colors on this phone are, i love the dena994 theme ANDRODeNa GaLaSSiA - (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=770507) - but its an i9000 theme.
i want to take the dialer, the semi-transparent notification background with the Galaxy S symbol, and maybe even the dark look in menus and such, from the Darkness theme, but the notification pull-down look and the icons from the ANDRODeNa GaLaSSiA theme, and combine the two. im using the Perception ROM, which is i9000-based, so i'd assume id be able to use elements of the ANDRODeNa theme.
how difficult would it be to do so, or an even better question, what would be the steps to do so? (if anyone wanted to take the time to do so, i wouldnt mind that at all either - and donate even).
Since your using an i9000 rom, you'd be able to just use the second theme as is, but the darkness theme would be complicated and I'm not entity sure how you'd do it.

No I can try to explain better tho
1 grab the theme you want
2 extract the apk using 7zip
3 Keep only Res folder
4 using winsows's search search for ' XML 'and del them all
5 put Res folder in a folder called the same as the apk you extracted (without the extension)
6 grab any metamorph theme for sgs captivate and replace the folder you just made and using metamorph apply 'sub theme'

there you go .
If it's a metamorph theme - it should probably work.
But I would back up your framework-res.apk and wherever the dialer theme is pushed too before attempting it.
Worse case scenario is your phone will boot but will "boot-loop" when attempting to go to your home screen or go to a black screen.
You'd have to re-copy over the *.apk's affected and you would have your phone back.
Another way to do it is before flashing to your latest and greatest (or copying over the *.apk's) you could open up the APK files using WINRAR or your fav zip program and copy the *.png's into them overwriting the existing ones then flash or copy the modified APK files back into your system.
It's a pain... but it does work I've done it many times with positive results.
I'm running a de-odexed ZSJPJ rom (Ramad's). It seems that the only way to get the puzzle piece lockscreen is to flash a theme that has the 4 lockscreen settings. I don't really want to flash a theme especially since a lot of these are based on older frameworks and I just want the lockscreen.
If anyone can point me to a comprehensive how-to, that will be fine. Thanks in advance.
yeah you need to change the android.policy.odex in the system\framework\ folders.
You can just take the file from a theme that has it and use root explorer to transfer it to your phone.
or you can just use the StockPlus082percentageFF theme which is a stock theme with all the current lock screens.
Link for stock theme with 5 lockscreens: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=952579
I've seen Stockmod Plus, but I think he uses an older framework. ZSJPJ rom has some issues from what I've read. Anyway, thanks. I'll google android.policy.odex and see where it leads.

yeah but you can just take the android.policy.odex file from it and install it separately. just replace the one file with the one you have on your phone.
Hi guys,
I've read lot of general things about how to theme an app, because I want to theme phone.apk.
In almost every description you have to use awd-launcher or modify the layout and res xml files, that's not what I'm looking for.
My target is to create an "app" which you can install on a standard rom and this app changes the look of phone.apk. Is this possible?
Thanks, Flo
What would be the best way to install downloaded fonts from say dafont.com? If it makes a difference I am on Apex 10.1 with the mattedblues theme.

I must be missing something here, I installed the app and made the folder it asked me to and threw the fonts into the folder (and true type fonts specifically), how can I make it though so that it pops up in the list when I go to Display > fonts ? All that stays there is just the default ones that came with the rom. And then when I hit on apply it does it through the whole phone.
I was hoping that I could do is have the options of more fonts when I use an app for say minimalistic text and what not.
you shouldnt need an app. just a folder.
was the folder in /system/fonts/ from the root folder? NOT sdcard/fonts or sdcard/external_sd/sytem/fonts? BAD!
drop truetype fonts in system/fonts (root required) and reboot!

You can use Font-Installer-Root-Full_v1.0
Install and choose font! reboot => Done! (Very very beautiful font )
The legitimate way, is to make them into apps that FlipFont can read. Anything else requires overwriting the default "droidsans" fonts.
Or modding whatever system files tell the phone to look for droidsans. Even then it might cause problems since those are not digitally signed, and end user (non-dev phone) versions of Android don't run unsigned (as in not from a reputable source) apps/files.

Hi,a have question about Music Player Pro.
Is any way to change icons in this app? I tried to change the icons in the APK MANAGER 4.9, and using 7zip but after each program would not install. I wanted to change the program icon and the little that appears in the notification bar to look like the logo audio beats. There is some way to change these icons?

Requirements:
1. Player pro apk(lol! get a utility to extract it after you install it from playstore)
2. You'll need APK Multi-Tool get it here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1310151
3. Windows PC(Win 7 or better for easier use)
4. beats audio icons get it here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3y8ntAWWOPyVS1KYU1wRFQ2Z0k/edit?usp=sharing (Click on file>>download or ctrl+S)
Steps: I'm not going to explain how to install apktool(get it from the link)
1. Install apk multi-tool
2.download and extract mod_icons.zip from the link

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3y8ntAWWOPyRHhIMXFtU2RkYVk/edit?usp=sharing
3. extract the apk
4. Open the projects folder and locate the extracted apk folder
5. open the res folder and search for "stat_notify_musicplayer.png" there are 7 of them. replace each of them with the icon of the (Almost!)same resolution. Replace "app_music.png" the same way. preview: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3y8ntAWWOPya01WVTRaSzdkbzQ/edit?usp=sharing
6. 7.compress,sign and zip align the apk using apktool
7. install app on your device!
note:apk compression changes the size of the original apk. the app still preforms the exact functions without any limitations.
BTW I am using Playerpro with EyeOS7 stock from RealPetChicken
(First project as a Noob)
