Radio streamer with timer mode? - G Tablet Themes and Apps

I lie to listen to the radio to fall asleep. Is there a radio streaming application that has a tmer mode so I can do something like stream for Xx minutes then stop?
Sent from my G-Tablet running Vega-Nb5.1

Tune in radio has a sleep timer and allows you to stream radio stations from across the world. And it's free.

Thanks. It was just what I wanted.

Let resco radio play when device in standby?

I just noticed that when I am using XM radio that I can sleep the device and the radio keeps playing. Anyone know what controls this? I want to be able to do the same with Resco radio.
same goes with windows media player when it is on standby when streaming music- it continues playing..
i think if we could control that for regular music on the memory card, it would be a really good alternative to locking the device.. also saves power.

Just wondering... Radio Alarm Clock....

I'm just wondering...
Each morning, I wake up to the boring alarm clocks which are on the phone...
I was just curious if there is any application out there which still is an alarm, however can possibly connect via the WIFI connection, to say the Radio 1 live stream, and play that out loud?
Or am I over complicating things?
I'm on PAYG you see, so there is no chance of the phone using my credit on GPRS to stream Live BBC shows, but I want to be able to wake to Chris Moyles (since my actual alarm clock is faulty).
Thanks,
the only thing that comes to mind is to use PhoneAlarm (also manages phone profile switching) and nominate an MP3 to play at your chosen time
G-Alarm is pretty good too if you want to wake up to an mp3 file on your device...
dunno about any software that can connect to a streaming radio service...
Do either of you know how many alarms these will offer?
Generally the current 3 are wasted on me, as i'm more than a heavy sleeper...
So generally would love about 5, as my old SE phone did... Just would like to do more things...

Playing music automatically when connected to my car

Why do android phones do this and how do i stop it?
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
I assume you mean through bluetooth, which is strange because none of my phones do this(Nexus One, Vibrant, Nexus S, and G2).
All of my Androids have done this and it has been discussed. If my car is in Bluetooth Streaming mode and the phones bluetooth is on, as soon as I start the car, music starts playing.
I can confirm this on a captivate and the nexus s. And there seems to be no way to choose the player it uses. I too would like to know how to prevent the auto playing or at least select the player it will launch.

all my old phones did that properly (Palm, Desire, SGS, XT720 and now SNS)
Except the Windows phones, which i hated, because they didn't do it
This may be a "feature" of the car's stereo. Like how if you leave your radio on when you turn off your car, then your radio turns back on automatically when you turn the car on again.

Yes, that's partly correct, it will only start autoplaying anything (for me) if the car's stereo is set to BT streaming. If I'm on Sirius or AM/FM, no interaction with the phone beyond pairing.
The issue is that if you're listening to something like BeyondPod or Pandora, the Music app starts autoplaying on top of the audio stream you're already listening to.

If you have the Microsoft Sync system in your vehicle you will have this command and a Sync Button. It worked in my 2009 Mercury Mariner Premier. It was previously opening winamp and playing all of the notification noises.
Now it waits for my to decide what noise to play.
Sync....please say a command....."AUTOPLAY OFF DAMNIT!"
I will be testing this on my lunch and will report back, heres hoping!
Sorry to bring an old thread back from the dead but I couldn't find an answer for this elsewhere. Well, I found an answer for the HTC Hero but couldn't find one for the Nexus S.
I'm having this problem with the Nexus S 4G always wanting to run WinAMP over whatever else (Pandora, Spotify, AmazonMP3 etc.). I don't have a Ford so I don't have a Sync button. I have a Nissan Leaf which only gives the options of Play/Pause, Next Track, and Previous Track. I believe the Leaf's infotainment system runs on a Microsoft designed OS, but it's not branded as Sync.
Even if I'm listening to something in Spotify after previously closing WinAMP and press Next Track from the steering wheel it will launch WinAMP and start playing WinAMP's music over top of Spotify's music. Makes for some interesting mashups, though unfortunately not in a good way.

It sounds like winamp is registering as the handler for the media controls and either spotify is not or winamp is not unregistering when closing.

I use tasker, which prevents the problem of opening wrong app, but still haven't solved the skip and pause problem.
Did you go to application settings-->manage applications and clearing the defaults for the app? Sometimes they are set by default.

Auto play live audio stream

Hi all,
Apologies, another newbie question! (Don't you just hate us newbies!).
I need my Pi to play a live audio stream (AAC+) and keep playing it (so the player needs to have a repeat option that can be saved so it will keep on trying the same stream continuously (or a file that contains the stream URL preferably). The idea is that the Pi starts playing a live stream as soon as it's powered and will keep playing it indefinitely (and keep retrying if the connection drops).
I'm not sure which software to use to play the live stream OR how to make an entry into what would be the same as Windows 'start up' folder to that it auto starts when it loads up.
I am also unsure about whether I need to load the GUI for this to work, or if it can start from the command line.
I appreciate I'm asking a lot, but I'd like to hear peoples suggestions about the best way to handle this and where to start.
Thanks in advance for any input into the subject.
I'm using Clementine for listening network radio stations, but I haven't seen a function to autoplay while starting. I need to find a better music streamer too...
You don't need a GUI for anything. Mplayer plays internet radio. Write a loop in bash that starts mplayer again and again if it looses connection so that mplayer stops (while loop with a sleep and the mplayer command).
