alright it is with great pain that i am writing this, but i really need some help here. for months i've read the forums, searched for answers, asked little individual questions, IMed with people directly for help... and i'm still having trouble.
i rooted my T-Mobile G1 all the way back when cupcake first came out. everything was great. life was grand. everything ruled. i was a happy android fanboy, talking friends into switching to android, talking crap about iphones... the works... but slowly things started getting slower and slower and slower...
the obvious thing was to wipe and reflash. i was constantly just updating to newer cyanogen roms at that point without wiping. so i wiped to the newest cyanogen at the time (can't remember at this point, but just picture it was like a couple months after cupcake). so things were good again for a little bit, but then it started slowing down again, getting FC's, etc. so a friend recommended i switch to superD... i did, and again, everything was great for a while. i consistently upgraded superD roms (sometimes wiping in between sometimes not). eventually i got to the point where i was on the most recent superD release. it lasted about a day before things started slowing down. examples include when i hit home to exit an application and go to the home screen, the whole screen would either turn black or just show my wallpaper for a good 5 seconds before my home screen would appear, or opening the browser would take like 10 seconds. lots of slow down.
so with the help of a friend i decided to completely wipe and reformat/repartition my sd card. i bought titanium backup but i didn't even bother with it, i said to myself, look, you barely use any of the stuff you have right now, how about just start fresh and reinstall things as you need them manually. so i formatted, repartitioned (using amon Ra's recovery, using the menu option that helps you do it automatically). i made sure i had the most recent radio and spl (this was just a couple months ago), and reflashed the most recent superD (i think its 1.11 if i remember correctly)... again, maybe one day of good performance before everything slowed down. this was also about the time when my battery life started becoming an issue. i'm not exaggerating when i say i couldn't make it home without breaking under 20% battery by the end of the day... and i really don't use my phone THAT much. i'd say i'm a little above average on my usage. i'll get into my widgets and apps in a second, but i really don't use that much stuff...
SO... continuing my story (thanks for sticking with me if you're still reading...). when cyanogens 2.1 for the g1 rom came out (5.0.8d/s) i decided it was time for a change. i reformatted AGAIN, repartioned AGAIN, and flashed 5.0.8. basically, i've got the same story going on. slowdowns, poor battery life, etc.
so here i am with my cyanogen 5.0.8 flashed g1. let me tell you about apps and widgets and stuff. right now i have a regular wallpaper (not live), 14 icons between my 5 screens and just the google search and power management widgets. i used to have calwidget, the genie widget (both news and weather), and the setcpu widgets too, but i decided to take them off to see if it would help with performance. zero help. apps that i either know for sure are always running or i think may have some impact are twidroyd, newsrob, craigsnotif (craigslist notifier), and dealdroid. i don't think any other apps are running and/or do automatic updates for content and stuff like that.
i also use cachemate (purchased) regularly to clear my caches. apps2sd is enabled.
i'm not sure what other information you'd need to help me out, but just let me know and i'll try to give you more details.
right now, i've got slow down like almost all the time. things are constantly pausing, slowing down. i feel like i'm back on my t-mobile mda with winmo5 haha. and forget about it with the battery. i left the house with 90% battery this morning. i went to the gym. went home. picked up lunch. came to work. its been like 4 hours. i currently have 19% battery. all i've done is make 2 phone calls, about a dozen text messages and i've sent 2 tweets (about my battery problem haha). i also used google maps once to look up a number. my wifi and gps is off.
so there we go. really guys, please please please. help me out if you can. any help would be appreciated. i'm so sick of this. and i'm stuck in contract until july 2011. so i'm not getting a new phone any time soon. i gotta figure this thing out.
i really appreciate your help.
thanks.
Dave
OH... and PS... forgot to mention that I just got a new battery this week thinking maybe the battery was just getting old and bad. obviously, no such luck.
I had the same issues till I flashed a SuperD, then everything was fine. I just recently flashed the Froyo from Cyanogen and its like it fixed everything and I'm on a brand new device (knock on wood)!
How old is your G1? Do we know if there are issues with the first run out of the factory? Is that even an issue?
i got the g1 last july. so it was already out for a while at that point. it was new from a store though. i suppose there could be something actually wrong with the phone itself, but i don't know. i was thinking of trying the cyanogen froyo but because its not a stable release yet i figured it would be just this bad or worse...
I promise cm5.0.8 has wonderful battery life when no custom apps are installed and not on any network..
so the question is what is your phone doing, and ought it be doing what it is doing.
There are some nice built in tools for this
Applications->running services
And
Applications -> manage applications (check out the filter in the menu from that screen)
You may be surprised by the apps the think they need to constantly have a service running for some painful trivial job the android API has better interfaces for.. if in addition to that you don't need the app uninstall it.
Otherwise experiment with comp cache and lock launcher in memory.
another example, as i was reading this i was on the phone and i just finished the call and hung up, and i was previously in text messages, it took 12 seconds for my text messages to come up. thats just insane...
as for running services:
- GTalkService <--- I use GTalk all the time
- GenieRefresh Service (Restarting) <--- weird considering I disabled this widget, although I'd LIKE to have it back
- Maps FriendsAppWidgetUpdater (Restarting) <--- never used this in my life
- NewsRob UnreadWidgetProvidor (Restarting) <--- never used the widget before (as a matter of fact, you have to pay to use the widget and i have the free version... weird)
-Twidroyd Background Service <--- understandable, I use this constantly
- AKNotepad Snaptic Update (Restarting) <---- umm... I use this all the time but I don't know why a notepad program would need an updater service running... interesting...
- Swype <---- gotta have that
- CM Updater (Restarting) <--- Don't really think that needs to be on all the time. Can easily manually refresh that...
So that's it. I didn't realize this was included now. Very cool. On older roms I had to use task managers which don't seem to really work. I'm going to stop everything except twidroyd, gtalk and swype right now and see how that does... at the bottom it says Avail: 3.2MB+0.00B in 0 ... Other: 55MB in 4 ... While typing that the Maps FriendsAppWidget just popped back up... I'm gonna see if theres a setting...
In the meantime, does any of this give you any ideas? thank you so much for the advice. Also what does (Restarting) mean?

oh and i have compcache not checked and launcher in memory IS checked... i just tried turning on the compcache option... lets see how that goes...
ok so...
now that i know about those things that were running, i stopped all the ones i don't need, and also went into the apps to see if there was any options for turning off automatic updates, background syncing, etc etc for those things... i'm gonna charge my phone while getting ready to go out and then we'll see how it goes throughout the evening. lets see if i make it home with more than 20% battery left (i'll be gone for like 5 hours). if so then we're on to something here still i find it weird that i can't have a few widgets loaded. but whatever, i'll take a smoothly running phone that lasts all day and i just have to click on icons to get to stuff any day... thanks for the help, i'll let you know how its going tomorrow.
the next day
ok so i tried the compcache and keep launcher in memory options last night, messing with both settings. i found that every possible combination became very unstable other than the one i already had (which was compcache off and launcher in memory on). after trying to shut excessive running services like i mentioned yesterday, and also restarting the phone and then shutting them again, i got NO difference in performance OR battery life...
so back to square one... any ideas guys?
thanks so much for any help you can give me. i really really appreciate it.

Um... The compcache instability scares me a bit
Compcache has had issues (maybe still does) where the first time you enable it the phone crashes.. but then works fine with Compcache on reboot. Otherwise it really ought no make the phone unstable. (it may or may not speed things up depending on how memory is being used.. usually however it allows 12MB of memory that is rarely used to be compressed, allowing a little more active memory to be utilized) You may want to look into wiping dalvik-cache both on the internal memory and SD card:
Enter console and run (this will restart the phone)
Code:
rm -rf /data/dalvik-cache/*
rm -rf /cache/dalvik-cache/*
rm -rf /sd-ext/dalvik-cache/*
reboot
if you get an error about no files found thats not an issue; but other errors may indicate a problem.
This may help system stability (with or without compcache) .. but won't do anything about the battery life (nor speed unless something was seriously wrong)
-------------------
Unfortunately you will either need to erase all your apps and just run stock CM5 [maybe slowly restore your apps you really need] -- OR -- be very patient and debug whatever application(s) are causing issues on your phone (and maybe complain to the dev for failing to read/understand google's documentation on how to write android applications.. not that some of the google apps haven't quite figured that out until recently)
Thus again the main question is what is running on your phone.. The places I mentioned before allow you to see the services (most of which usually restart if you run the related application again) but not strictly all the details to look for.
Example 1 An widget service is likely holding onto memory starving timer services (those not listed) and swapping out other services (phone/launcher making everything feel slow) At the same time the widget is not very active usually and may not connect to the internet at all; thus may not reduce battery life.
Example 2 An IM client on the other hand may requires a service to keep TCP/IP connections alive, and if not coded properly may be very persistent and cause a slow continual stream of data from your phone requiring a large amount of power to keep the phone on 2G/Edge.
Example 3 A Task killer an kill tasks that re-spawn, or kill a task in use if it doesn't know better causing things to behave in strange ways.. so can killing services/applications from the setting screens btw.. but at least that is a one off by user decision not a automatic operation in the background. Tasks when re-spawned may require more data from the internet thus more power to 2G/Edge
User: Then the one that causes me the most problems: A user that keeps the phone in his/her pocket rather than surfing the web, checking XDA, or continuously checking the battery level is using the device less thus will have longer battery life. (careful to not fall into this trap)
Other Ideas:
SetCPU: set the sleep CPU low in profiles (sleep for me is 245/160)[/*]
Verify End action: Settings->End Button Behavior->Go to sleep[/*]
Set longer periods between polls in applications that poll the net (example twitter every 10 or 20mins.. not 5)[/*]
Larger net transfers on wifi if available (example tell newsrob to sync on wifi only) wifi drains the battery faster than idle, but is much cheaper if larger amounts of data are involved.[/*]
As you can see many things will impact the system. You will need to find the ones eating your battery
Another helpful screen for debugging this may be Settings->Spare Parts->Battery History and Settings->Spare Parts->Usage Statistics
I get between 4h and 12h batter life under semi-normal conditions. 4h = surfing 3g + tappatalk + games.. 12h check email/tweat if i get one.. otherwise stays in my pocket. I've seen my test phone hang out for days on a 2g network without data. (so you can always set your apn type to mms if you just need it to be a phone for many hours.. mms keeps mms support btw)
Ebuddy (and most other MSN/AIM/ect chat clients is frequently one of the biggest problems on my phone.. so if I need more battery those are the first to go.. and whomever it is can poke me on gtalk/txt/or wait
Good luck in your search.. Took me a while to make cm5 work as long as cm4.. most of it was mis-behaving apps that I either know to shut off when I need longer battery life.. or have found replacements for.. or avoid widget functionality if the widget was misconfigured. (
i was doing my 5k run with my recently updated hero and about a mile into the run pandora radio started skipping and then stopped. when i looked at my phone it was rebooting. i have task manager and killed all the apps before i started and unchecked jogtracker and pandora so i could use them. it didnt last long. the phones screen froze and dimmed then crashed until it finally restarted. is there a reason for the crash. seems to me like a memory problem. i have a two gig card with one pt. five left on it. and the internal memory is at 91mb. it always worked before i rooted and installed cm6. the phone in general is way faster and more responsive since i put cm6 on it but for some reason the two apps running together arent working. thanks for any help
Try removing the task manger reboot into recovery and wipe Dev/ cache and try it then might work good luck
Root-Hack-Mod-Always™
I've tried running with and without various task managers and always wind up uninstalling and reminding myself that I should know better.
I seriously don't think Froyo and these mods need a task killer. If anything, they seem to cludge things up. My phone was running beautifully for two weeks and earlier today I thought I'd try out a different task killer. Mistake. I uninstalled it after 1/2 hour because it just made the phone feel funky.
Try running without for a couple weeks....

+1, CM6 does not need a task killer/manager. The best method is to download AutoKiller (which lets you alter Android's internal memory manager, much more effective than task killers) and change the settings to Strict or Aggressive. Also, two of the biggest problems that create soft reboots that you describe is (a) the VM heap size being too small and (b) CPU speeds being too high. So, steps to take:
1) Uninstall task killer
2) Install AutoKiller and change settings to Aggressive
3) Change SetCPU/Overclock Widget settings to 691 max/595 min with screen on, 480 max/245 min screen off
4) Change VM Heap size (in Cyanogenmod Settings) to 24 MB and reboot
The only other possibility I can think of would be kernel instability. If you flash Decand3nce's #14 Stable kernel found here it is far more stable than the stock kernel and (IMHO) has much better performance than the stock kernel.
These steps should rectify any memory and/or CPU overconsumption problems you are having that could cause the reboots (as well as make your phone much faster, smoother, and more stable). If these steps don't fix it, it most likely is a problem with one of the apps themselves.
Good luck!
thanks for the help.
also on the restart i got this message Sorry the applicating spring updater (process com.sprint.ce.updater) has stopped unexpectedly. please try again. force close. this is probably the cause of all the problems thanks
the changes u pointed out seemed to have fixed the phone so far. thanks so much for the great instructions. u da man.

Its the amount of memory each application can take up maximum. You tend to get smoother running stops with higher vms; I set mine to 24.

Hi, im new to rooting but i have a question about music players and my rooted hero. I'm running aospCMod latest version with everything updated. My phone has only been rooted for a week but it just started happening yesterday.
The music player im using is called SongBird Beta, its a new player that might not run friendly with rooted devices but it was working till yesterday, and i've had to force close the app or pull my battery because my phone wouldn't respond. i WOULD post this in the aosp thread but i dont have enough posts lol..
is it just the app or is it my rooted phone?
I'm also running aospCMod and alot of times the devs will tell you to raise the minimum cpu setting from 176 to 264 or 352 and try it. It usually fixes the problem. Check under settings -> cm settings -> performance.

I am also having those troubles. (older version, newer version)Pandora, Music Player and Double twist. Through Bluetooth, head phones and speaker. Skip, Freeze you name it. I have tried raising/lowering the settings and that has netted me the same result. Performance, Interactive, Ondemand, Userspace.... Tried it. Jit on and off... tried it. Flash, reflash, format, reflash... tried it. I am going to go through my notes today and try to flash a sense rom and do the media card scan fix to see if that works. IDK... Could be just the end of the Hero's life for me.

Try reflashing your recovery if you have not already. Try a new/different sd/card. Also you can try a nand of a rom were you weren't having the problems and TB the app+data then restoring it to your current rom. Also you can try a fastboot erase system if your s-off to have a definite clean start. "Warning" fastboot will erase everything. That's if you haven't tried it already. Well good luck
Yea it's Me Again With The
Modified Hero
Thanks Laie!
I did flash AOSP's latest recovery then back to Jason's then to the original 3.0.0.5 and back to AOSP's latest. Funny thing for me is that Pandora will play for about 5-10 songs then is will chop and freeze the phone. After a battery pull the Pandora is choppy but wont freeze the phone up until later. So I cleared cache, tried uninstalling and reinstalling and Nand. Same deal. I am going to test my songs on the SD card next just to be sure.
Then, new card. Phew.... This is fun... I am having fun... I think.
So question with regard to the streaming of Pandora. Is there a timeout setting for the phone to go wonky on Data? I am now wondering if the 3G or Data is dropping the ball. The screen sleeps fine and music continues. Then after about 10min (on average) it skips and locks the phone. I have sync and bluetooth disabled for now. Hooked up to the head phones.
692/276 no jit no frills. Hell I didn't even configure my mail yet.
Hmmm..
Figured I would isolate one issue at a time. Sorry for the hyjack of the thread OP. Maybe this will help you too.
Make sure you don't have a task killer running that's killing it off. I personally don't use them. They kill apps I'm running and eat up more battery imo. Just food for thought that one could be set too aggressive.

Good suggestion but not using any either.
There is a setting in pandora to keep it happy, can't remember what it's called, but it's there. I also can tell you if you tried ondemand again, it would work. Also raising the min to 352 no matter the governor. Both of those methods have worked time and time again, try it. Edit: also, the new "purge assets", or vm heap, or compcache setting could affect it, but I doubt that's the issue.
I used fastboot reset device and let it reboot. Turned on Pandora and it's been playing strong for 45Mins. Here is run down.
Re partitioned 4 times using 1GB, 2GB, 4GB then back to 1GB. 256Ext size always. Re flashed fresh. Interactive 691/264 no jit. Crashed once. Rebooted, reset using fastboot, reboot and it has been playing through headphones for 50 Min now. Bluetooth is the next test. Thanks Duce and Laie.
I will add this is the first time in about 3 weeks I have been live for longer than 30 Mins. I tried CM7's and AOSP's. Much prefer AOSP's, less bloat and Zeam are a must for me.
EDIT: 1 Hour Headphones, VanHalen Channel
My plays stable with 19-691ondemand

FYI, I installed Blitzkrieg Kernel 1.0. My phone phone was very unstable and would restart often. Guess mine is one on the "picky" ones. Went back to GingerVolt 1.3 and all is well.

Was it still unstable if you turned it down to 1GHz instead of keeping it at 1.5GHz?
I never could get that far. As soon as the phone was almost up it would restart. I tried about 5 or six times. I am happy with the phone without Blitzkrieg. Just thought I would pass along the info.
Thanks to all!
Make sure it's not plugged in on the initial boot after the install. Mine would reboot as well...until I unplugged it. Once in the OS, then I undercooked to a more stable 1.4GHz...

Guys I have the same issues on GingerVolt 1.3 with the Blitzkrieg kernel.
Random reboots.
The phone starts vibrating randomly for like 10 seconds, then reboots. Happens like 10 times a day.
I tried to play with the SetCPU Over Clock settings, with no luck. I lowered max CPU to 1ghz max, I even removed set CPU, nothing has helped.
going to try to re-flash GingerVolt with the stock Kernel see if that helps. I don't need the OC Kernel if thats causing the issue.

You can turn off the haptic feedback to minimize that vibration reboot but it won't solve the issue tho

For those who use blitzkrieg kernel I recommend using cpu tuner instead of setcpu
I've been testing both app extensively for the past 2 weeks and notice cpu tuner is much more stable than set cpu and both have the same features
I use the free set cpu verison that you can download on the xda site that's the same as the paid version you get on the market

Guys I seem to still be having the issue, I dont get it.
I did a factory reset, cleared all caches, and reinstalled plain old GingerVolt 1.3 for about 1 week with no issues. But i really didnt set up the phone completely, just installed the basics i need (work email, gmail, contacts, calendar, pandora).
I imagined it was the blitzkrieg kernel at this point, so I wouldn't put it back. so i did a titanium restore of my old apps and system data, but did not re-flash the blitzkrieg kernel. I figured this was my best way to get everything set up with my preferences again. I have specific settings for a lot of stuff, it would take forever to redo.
It was fine all day yesterday and today its rebooting again. Set CPU did reinstall as part of my restore.
Does gingervolt 1.3 do any undervolting/clock speed adjustments by default? My set CPU was set to min 245 and max 1024. I bumped up the 245 to 768, but I am wondering if that even the cause. What are the stock clock speeds? Or does it run at 1ghz all the time in stock form?
I have the same problem, my phone vibrates for ten seconds then resets. Or the screen stops working and I have to lock and unlock the phone for it to begin working again.

So far after changing the min cpu speed i haven't had any issues again.

Best thing I can say to do is to Restore to default and install things one or two at a time. It's likely an App causing the issue. I have had that happen a few times on my Droid 2 Global. Every time I would run the Goggle Nav App, my phone would randomly reboot. Don't have it installed, would be perfectly fine, until I installed Pandora app. Some buggy apps can cause such issue, and also bad settings. So, I would suggest going the 'long way' and starting from scratch and installing only necessary apps one or two at a time. If things work good, move on to next apps. When things go bad, recall the apps you just installed where the problem occurred. Restore your phone, install only those apps and see if you have reboot issues. If so, you are closing in to finding the real problem. I doubt, even by the post you wrote, that it's the phone or hardware. You need a factory fresh restore, including wiping ALL data, including settings for your apps.

Well?
I don't know if you guys fixed your problems yet, but I kinda had some of the same issues and I do not use CPU Tuner or Set CPU! Also I know that when you install Blitz 1.3 It defaults to normal CPU speeds that are already in phone settings as checked by CPU Spy after flashing Blitz. I have been using Antutu CPU Master Pro to set speeds and profiles works great for the price I use it on my Viewsonic G-tablet as well! Anyway what my first issue is the screen locks I had them all the time and the only way I kept them from happening was to set my min at the 245.76 MHz and my all the time max at 1200MHz. I also set the screen off at 122.88MHz - 245.76MHz On demand scaling profile to keep it not wakening from sleep quick enough. Antutu has all kinds of settings in the Pro version and If you want a overclock I think its the best to use.
The only Issue I have not figured out is you guys get a 10 sec vibrate then a reboot I get a Vibrate forever until I reboot I got woke up this morning at 4:00 A.M. by my phone vibrating next to my bed only happens at night and only when I start receiving emails early in the morning. I tried several screen off settings and not having vibration on at all and still happens figure that one out and I will gladly try anything you come up with!!! The only time it doesn't do it is if it is plugged in and charging!
Softkey lights
I've successfully rooted my revo and have added gingervolt and blitzkrieg.
The softkeys will illuminate about every minute for a second or flash twice when in sleep-mode. I did some reading and tried to reboot and change display settings but they still keep going on and off. Any help is appreciated.
EDIT: charging to 100% fixed this.
Thanks for the quick reply and all your other posts too mt, they are very informative.

I´m having quite a frustrating problem. Tried to search the net for hours, only finding a handful of people with the same issue but no solution. So, I wondered if anyone can help me out here? The problem is that my clock is not updating while screen is off. Naturally, this affects all alarms and notifications as well.
20:15 -> I adjust alarm to 20:30 and put the screen off. I press power right after the screen has gone off, and see the lockscreen.
Lockscreen informs it´s 20:15 and the alarm is set at 20:30.
20:30 -> Nothing happens.
20:45 -> I press power. Clock says 20:15 for a second. After one second, it shows 20:45, and the alarm starts ringing.
So the problem is quite easy to identify- the clock doesn´t get updated when screen is off. The moment I switch it on -seeing the lockscreen- it gets updated and acts accordingly if any alarms or notifications were to ring at the period it was not updating. However, it´s much less easy to find out what´s behind it. Could anyone spare me a hint here?
I´m running a rooted P7300 with CM10, 30/10 build. Using Tasker to underclock while the screen is off in order to preserve battery life. I thought that caused the problem, but while leaving the CPU untouched....
01:00 -> Switching tablet off, putting alarm at 9:00
09:10 -> Wife wakes me up instead of the alarm. I press power.
Clock says 8:48 for a second. After that second, it gets updated, shows 9:10, and the alarm starts ringing.
I´m getting a little clueless here, so any help would be appreciated.
Running rooted P7300 with CM10 (30/10 build).
Cheers, Henu.
EDIT: Ok, I´ve come to the conclusion that this freezing happens when entering Deep Sleep. If that could give anyone any clues?
Works on CM10 version 11-11
Hi,
I can confirm that it works correctly in CM10 from 11-11.
I only have one weird problem left: the device drains more power when turned of than in standby.
I have been running the 11_11 build since it was released and had not had clock issues until today. I am not overly technical and have no clue why it is happening again. But for as smooth as this rom is I will live with it.
When mine gets confused on time it will not reset itself once i wake the tablet up, it stays messed up until I manually fix it.

Launcher ?
Do you use the stock launcer? Mine did strange things when using the apex launcher. No problems with stock launcher from cm10.
I am using the stock launcher but have installed nova and thinking about giving it a try

You could try the clock sync app from the play store. It worked on my phone when it had clock sync issues with a rom. Unfortunately, i'm new to xda, so I can't post the link, but just go to the play store and search for clock sync. It's by Sergey Barinov.
Thanks, but unfortunately none of this methods helped- I´m still having the same issue even with the 11/11- build, running Clock Sync as well. Anyone could shed any light here? I wish I wouldn´t have to go back to some (yuck) stock version.
I don't know if this will help but I just resolved this issue for myself. I did a factory reset. And also wiped all caches and system before flash. Then immediately after flash before rebooting system I wiped everything again except system. And then I started up and there was no issue with the clock. I'm running cm 10. I hope this helps.

Sounds like voodoo but I´m all in for trying even that. I will post the results tomorrow.
To confirm:
1) Basic superwipe procedure (factory reset/ system, cache, dalvik)
2) flash OS -> don´t boot yet up to OS like normally
3) wipe cache & dalvik
4) THEN reboot -> to OS?
Voodoo, baby.
It worked. Seriously, what the hell. My wild guess is that some file(s) might be corrupted in the actual package- and when the system notices they are missing at the first boot, it will replace them with working ones. Then again, I´m no Android/ Linux expert.
With a clean install, I ran alarm after 8 hours. Worked. Then I added Apex Launcher, waited 2 hours. Alarm went on. Installed everything again with Titanium Backup, put alarm after an hour. Still worked. So I can confirm that it´s not app- dependant but OS- dependant. However, it worked, so thanks a goddamn zillion!!!
Congratulations. Just happy to help.

I´m going to snap this piece of junk into half soon.
The problems came back, no reason why. I´m now trying one more thing, which is completely disabling Tasker, as it´s basically the only thing running while the screen is off. If that doesn´t help, i´m clueless.
EDIT: What a surprise, it didn´t help. So, it´s either non- functioning CM10 or stock ICS. I could had settled with CM9 easily, but that gave me the battery bug after two weeks. Seriously, this whole me- buying- a- tablet- and- getting- it- to- work has been a living joke. I just would love to have a stripped down OS with a Kernel supporting "all sorts of stuff" like processor speed, running app restriction, tweakable backlight etc.
Ok, so I wiped cache and dalvik and it worked for a couple of hours. Then last night the clock froze again. And this was quite interesting..
Alarm set at 10:30
I wake up 11:15 (hey, it was New Year´s Eve )
I press power and the clock says 11:15 and next alarm is set "tuesday 10:30".
Two seconds later the alarm hops into "wednesday 10:30".
Two hours later I press power, and the clock is 11:15 for a second and jumps to real time. So it´s definitely broken again.
I was just wondering- maybe I could try replacing the clock with another kernel´s version, would that be possible? Any help would be much appreciated.
EDIT: I also tried -once again- without automatic time& date (as my connectivity is set to cut off while the screen is off) and it still didn´t alarm me until I manually pressed the screen on.
EDIT2: Ran A1 kernel, no effect, still bugged.
EDIT3: Ran Tracid´s official ICS. Worked for a day, then bugged. Same thing with A1 kernel. I also had some serious issues with MTP connection and bootloader, so I restored stock and brought it back to the store where I got it for warranty repair. They think it´s a faulty MoBo.
I´m shamelessly bumping this. I ran the stock firmware with Odin and took it to the repair, as I wrote earlier.
Got the tab from warranty repair, seems that the only thing they had performed was "software update" . Very useful for someone who is constantly switching ROMs etc... like I hadn´t tried that before.
After returning to stock and all, I installed CM10 again. And "surprisingly", the problems started again. With or without apps, launchers, cachewipes, younameit. I´m now giving this a test with the stock ROM for a couple of days. I actually hope it doesn´t work, because that would be the only reasonable thing now. If it works with the stock ROM, I´m getting clueless. Does that mean I have some sort of issue which happens only in flashed ROMs instead of the stock one? That would be just....awkward.
