Hi together,
i've got a question about using QPST with my OMNIA 7.
The EFS-Explorer and NV-Dump (Backup) works fine, but every time I start the MemoryDebugApp the phone displays a ARM9 fatal error (until I remove the accu).
Does anybody know how i could start this mode correctly?
(QPST want to start the download mode on my omnia, but i've got the version without "volumne-up, power and camera" -> Download Mode).
Could the USB-cable trick help?
Another question: could i read user-infos like passwords or the telephonebook with QPST?! (a guy in this forum claims that he can do it, but i dont know how )
Thanks and greetings,
endeffekt

I confirm that the QPST works but since I have handset with the same bootloader as you so we share the same problems.
Interestingly enough, I noticed that QPST detected my device with Qualcomm QSD8260 Version 2. Whereas Omnia 7 is Qualcomm QSD8250 Chip.
Ok, I jigged my phone replaced the ROM and my bootloader was updated. I can use the 3 button combo now. QPST Memory Debug still faces the same problem and even when I hold down the combo after getting the prompt from the application that the phone will be put in download mode. I suppose, nothing much could be done using QPST, for now, the only hope to retrieve the download mode is the USB Jig as I have tried every possible way of getting to it otherwise.

Sorry, I was in holiday
Yesterday I finished my USB Cable and will try it out tomorrow! New day, new luck

Have tested several ways, but no one works... :/
I got a NV RAM image and some other stuff, but the MemoryDebug App doesn't work (ARM9 fatal error and so on).
Do you got new results?!
No mate, that does not work for me either no matter what I do.
Error?!
hi,
If you have so big problems, sent it to a Samsung Repair Partner. They can repair ether if its locked or flashed, they don't care. It's also free.

The phone isn't broken
The ARM9 fatal error appears when i start up my MemoryDebug App and switch into the download - mode. After a restart (pull of the battery) the phone works fine again
I want to read the Memory to get some user passwords and other sensible stuff (a guy in the "Windows Phone 7 Dev n Hacking" forum have succesfully done it, but don't tell me how )

Nice!
Then: could you please test if this works:
Put USB Jig into phone and start memorydebug app -> the phone change into download mode (with jig it should be the "correct" download mode).
Then you should be able to read a RAM image
does this works?

Lolz, now that is way too hard to do, since I could either put the jig or I could plugin my USB cable to run the memory debug program.
Now, what I must do to go ahead with your experimentation.

My jig is a little bit more professional (an eletronic engineer has done it for me - the complete cable is still together (i will send you a photo that evening)).
Today or tomorrow i will get another WP7 device (htc trophy) and test QPST MemDebug App with it!

Hum, does the QPST Config App detect your phone as a device? (if the configuration ist correct, the device will be detected as a modem on a COM-Port)
Ok then, we'll have a look at the picture you told about. So, far I have had no success with the debug app. In the beginning it all works ok but when the app asks to put the phone in download mode and once it is put in that mode then it just isn't available in the device list.

Hey Guys
got some problems with my galaxy s
tried to delete the contacts manualy and mixed up some stuff.
then i replaced /system/app/contacts with the one from the n1 from froyo
after this i did a hard reset and a cleared the cache.
now after reboot i got a lot of fcs and cant enter menu or anything, but i need to enable usb-debugging to come in to recovery mode or download mode since this phone has no 3 button recovery or download mode
does anyone has some sort of suggestion how to solve this problem?
greetz and thanks for every reply
And guess what
It had to be posted in android development section!
Tried adb in recovery?
tried it and didnt work since adb isnt activated on the phone and i cant enter settings menu because i everything fcs within a second
Ah rite, I thought ADB was always active in recovery mode...Apparently its not.
And yes, this looks bad. Nothing comes into my mind... Is there a way to flash update.zip from external sd?
i guess there is no way to flash it without recovery...
if i gett wifi working is there a way to open adb via wifi without using an app like adbWireless or with the terminalpro?
Thread moved. Why was this posted in Development?
WB
I think this is one nasty brick...
Does kies recognize the phone? There is a way to reflash current firmware using it...
sorry for posting in developer thread...
if i try coneccting with kies i get android.process.media fc
I'm afraid I cant help you. Try good folks from #project-voodoo on freenode.
Lack of 3 button recovery is a *****.
jea i still dont get why they even blocked 3 button combo
well ill try a little more and tomorrow im going to call the shop were i bought it...
lets hope they are realy nice people
*edit
if i try to conecct with kies i come to that point that kies says " Das gerät wird verbunden" wich is german and means something like the device is beeing coneccted ...
wanted to give a short update
i am getting a new phone tomorrow and then i will be sending my old phone back to the shop where i bought it hope this one doesnt have the 3 botton mode locked

Do these products work for the SGM? I saw somebody mentioning a jig to recover bricked phone somewhere here (related to SGM), but my request for clarification was not answered. Hence, creating this thread.
What software is required to use them?
And anybody got heimdall to work?
1.- Remove both the SIM card and de microSD card.
2.- KEEP YOUR BATTERY REMOVED
3.- Apply the Download-mode button combination (known by you all)
4.- WHILE HOLDING THE COMBINATION, insert the battery, and keep the buttons pressed untill you get the download mode.
5.- Flash your phone with a valid firmware through Odin (Preferebly, have Odin prepared before doing this trick)
i saw many people posting this trick n it worked for galaxy series n sgm too..if it is hard bricked then also..i dont think this device jig is required to unbrick,,,.
u r asking of software it is ODIN v4.38 download it by searching on google
Yes i confirm , work but no with hardware bricked SGM (black screen)

Thanks for this info. By "black screen", I hope you mean that the phone had neither download mode, nor battery charging sign??
Which jig did you use?
Can you describe the method or provide links?
In my case By "black screen", I mean that once i nstalled ROM MANAGER my phone does not start and shows only black screen and the phone had neither download mode, nor battery charging sign, in this case jig does not help.
---------- Post added at 10:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:51 PM ----------
But when I downgread my phone he died again, then I used my hand-made jig and after restart my phone enter in downlosd mode. I used this method - search this in google - How I did: Restore soft-bricked Samsung Galaxy I9000. But I guess you can use the link which I will send a P.M
Were you able to bring back to life your galaxy mini? I'm in the same situation (black screen due to ram manager) but my home made jig doesn't work. (Although it works with galaxys and galaxy s2).
Any idea or suggestion?

I managed to return my phone to my provider cervice , in this case it is the only solution for our phone. There told me that they changed the motherboard to fix it.
yeah it works depending on how your phone is bricked, mines really really hard bricked, no download mode, no charging ****, and odin nor doesnt recognize it, the only option is to surrender it to the carrier u bought it from
Hmm, many had problems with ROM Manager as I could see, and I guess its the reason for bricking. I'm never gonna use it anyways !!
Btw, I'm concerned about how the Service Center unbricks our device ?
We can't do that manually ?
I understand if its a hardware bricked stage, then no other option rather than handing the device to them.

search google for for jtag. You need a jtag jig, which connects directly to the mother board (and not the usb jig). There is one available, but is real expensive, afaik.
thank you very much
confirmed, my usb jig , which works with i9000 doesn't work with my wife's SGM...
Yes it works. I Tested it myself.
But only on soft bricks not on hard bricks.
I can give you a video if you want just pm me. ^_^
With the SGM, you do not need a jig if it is only a soft brick. As long as you can enter download mode, ODIN works.

btw those issues with rom manager.... it doesn't happen to me.
So if my phone doesn't turn on in any mode, is not recognized by odin, that means I have hardware brick? And USB jig will not work, right?

no! if read ur testimony
its caused ur wrong flash kernel , only one way is use "jtag" to flash the recovery kernel. then flash custom .
usb jig only purpose for softbricked.
hope it answers thy question
So in repair service they use these jtag tools?

Actually, there might still be hope, USB Jig works, you can make one by stripping the USB cord's end and connect 3 100k ohms resistors on two points, I can post photos if you want.
If your bootloader is already damaged by a bad flash, just hope your factory download mode's partition isn't also damage. If not, then the jig will work.
Also if anybody would like, here's my thread on how to flash stock ROMs 100% safe.

Hi, to all.
I'm not sure i am the only one who has this problem on i9000,(i suppose not),
in any case i haven't found any thread related for our phone. So i thought it would be a good idea to start one,and if others have same problem, post here, so we can gather as much info we can.And maybe find a solution.
ANY HELP IS VERY APPRECIATED.
From what I've read on forum it's defined as: ''when a phone perfectly works but it is unable to make its usb micro port work in any way''.(Except charging). To precise, i mean make phone visible in download mode or able to enter in download mode, usb drivers install, transferring files to/from computer to internal memory and sdcard.
The only threads i found are for HTC devices, with no clear solution.
User Bejda gently gave me a link on a French forum with a similar problem.
It has alot of interesting info and personal opinions about the problem.
http://galaxys-team.fr/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=20841
Another link is this one referring to a program that can unbrick and make functional the usb port.
http://galaxys-team.fr/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=22257
POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS:
1)GOOGLE DRIVERS (As i use cm7) --Didnt work in my case
2)Other cm7 version or other kernel from CWM --Didnt work in my case
3)Other pc usb port --Didnt work in my case
4)Other pc or format --Didnt work in my case
5)Other usb cable --Didnt work in my case
6)Mobile Odin --Cant use that to put stock firmware as i need to repartition and pit, and these options are disabled. Can they be enabled??
7)Clean Usb port/Check if it is ok --Didnt work in my case
8)Use Jig -- Didn't work either.
9)Use the program from the above forum??
10)Heimdall --Finds uknown device with 0000 ids etc,and fails to install device.Does work.Tried latest version.
11)Tried toggling BT--Didnt work.
12)Having the phone connected to notebook and then turning the notebook on -- Didnt work in my case
12)APPLYING CM9 ICS! -- YES THIS SOLVED MY PROBLEM!!USB DISCS WORKING SO AS ODIN ON DL MODE!!!!!THANK GOD!
Can't think something more..
About my case:
The phone works perfect but i cant manage my pc to 'see' my phone.Charging works.
The 2 discs of the phone
or even odin cant be seen.I tried different pc's,usb ports, usb drivers/controllers,cables,download or not mode, usb debbugging on/off , samsung and google drivers.
Other cm7 versions or kernel versions.Formatting the pc also.Whereas my friends phone on pc works perfectly, mine 8 out of 10 times is not recognised ,or found as uknown device.
Discs (internal and sd) also not shown on my computer.
On 3-4 days of trying i only managed to get it shown for 1 minute(only discs) ,didnt have time to try odin,as it disconnected (without me touching anything). After that it did the same before(not recognized etc).
I also dissembled my phone and i can say usb port seems perfect.
I was thinking if i manage to make odin work i can repartion and (update bootloader????) also put stock firmware/kernel that may fix it ,or not???
Or at least with stock i can try samsung's warranty.
Anyway for now i use My phone Explorer (via wifi) that can access eveything (contacts, sms, calendar, both disks on root folders etc,and its free)
because ftp apks dont work for me.
I ran into the same problem a few weeks ago, tested it all that you write about, but eventually I gave up and sent it to Samsung, they changed the circuit board on the warranty and now it's on its way back from service.
I said I tried to update the phone in Kies and that something went wrong ....
If you have a custom ROM on your phone, see if you can "destroy the software" so that they can not get into the phone and find that you have broken the warranty.
Thanks for your answer.
Well,you were on custom firmware/kernel?
I don't know if this can be done as i am on cm7 and i use a non stock kernel.
if you are on a custom rom you could try odin for mobile to flash a stock rom and send it to samsung (if you are still under waranty) for repairs/checks

Repair to a shop or samsung?
Claimed warranty or not?
i've got this problem to, you've probably got a faulty usb port, look into the port and see if you can find all the copper connectors, just today i tried a brand new usb cable, an that works!!!
only... it works 1 time, the first time the copper connectors aren't pushed into the cable, just look at an used cable and see what i mean, the connectors in the middle are pushed in....
what i think is that if you use a set of tweezers to pull them 1-2 mm out, (so they are lined up with the outer connectors) you can make contact again, make sure you're already in debugging mode, if you have used the cable you have to do it again..
btw, i havent tried the tweezers, i had a noever used cable laying around, but it's probably the same idea, so the same effect.... please reply if it worked or not...
btw^2 you're getting the "unknown usb device" error are you not?
Sorry for being late. These days i was ill
Yes maybe i have a faulty port.
But i can't claim warranty because i have glitch kernel and cm7 kang .
I just want to try 1st everything else possible , before a repair.
Also i don't like alot the fact that i will stay without my phone.
I will also try these days to keep it plugged on my turned off notebook (as oxmoss said)
and also try cm9 with cm9 kernel (as Dopedangel said).
Only sometimes (like 1 out of 10) it gives me unknown usb or usb malfunctioned, and (like 2 out of 1000!) it found the phone correctly.
These days , some times if i try to 'move' the cable near the phone it finds the uknown device
but i cant do nothing more. And sometimes i also hear the sound of the speakers getting 'stacked' when connect the usb..
So it must be the usb...
But the pins seem perfect. Also the ones inside the motherboard...
I tried with tweezers but nothing,as everything seems ok...
Anyway for now i use My phone Explorer (via wifi) that can access eveything (contacts, sms, calendar, both disks on root folders etc,and its free)

By the way i have stock firmware 2.3.5 rooted, remowed CWM before USB connector broke so only thing is to unroot and do factory reset

Cause your USB PORT is f**kin' broken ... !!!!
sent from the other side of my Galaxy
Hello everyone ! Two days ago I wanted to flash the stock firmware on my S6500D and the pc restarted when I was flashing the recovery.img I think..and now the phone shows only the Samsung logo ( but very very veeery low-quality resolution ) with some lines in right, how can I repair it..?
ye, it's a brick. I had the same problem when I bricked mine. At first it had corrupted graphics, after some minutes it didn't boot at all.
There's no way to reflash it..? Without replacing the motherboard , I mean..using the software side.

i read jtag also working on all galaxy family devices. try it, try.
I could give the device to a repair service ( GSMobile for me ) and they could repair it, but I don't want to give money for this device because the screen is also broken and I think in 2 months I'll buy a S3 Mini ( I love S3, belive me ) and if I find a way with a small amount of money to repair the phone I will do it ! But this jig..I also used some JIG for bricked PS3 but it's not the same way.. and I don't know a lot of things about making one for my phone, if you have a tutorial I will do it, but after I get the S3 Mini I'll surely repair this phone, I want to continue developing and searching and helping the other Mini2 owners, it is my first Android phone and it means very much to me.
JIG is only meant to force the phone into download mode. If the JIG works, your device is not hard bricked... Otherwise, I mean, if it is hard bricked, service center will take care of it. JTAG != JIG
I'll try to JIG tomorow , I'm using this tutorial : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604707 , TheWhisp, the recovery.img file wasn't flashed totally, I mean it was about 60%..but the boot.img / system.ext4 ( I Think it was like that ) / other files were flashed with succes.. maybe the JIG will do it for me !

I've tried all possible connections and sometimes the phones turns on ( I mean that the Samsung screen appears ) but sometimes nothing happen ( like when connecting PIN 4 to PIN 5 and this is the jig connection )

It's not working, if I enter in download mode by the buttons the screen shows only a white line, then I connect the jig and nothing happens, the screen remains the same..
