Hello, this is not another boot-loop brick issue as many of you are having. I have no adb access and no fastboot. I am stuck trying to do whatever NVflash will allow. I desperately need some information from the next post if anyone can help.
I may need to redefine the partitions but I will need info from someones device. If someone could PLEASE do the following. It will not overwrite anything on your device.
Download this file and put it in your nvflash directory and boot your device into boot-loader mode (Hold Vol up + down and insert USB)
http:/illdill.org/streak7/files/bootloader.bin
in NVFLASH use the following command:
Try this without the bootloader file, it may still give results:
nvflash --getpartitiontable partitiontable.txt
If not:
nvflash --bl bootloader.bin --getpartitiontable partitiontable.txt
Please send me, or post the outputed txt file.
Also, I will need the partition img files for 2 through 7 if anyone would please be so kind.
nvflash --read x part-x.img (where x is the partition number so you will have to run the command for each partition 2-7)
Thanks in advance!

where do I get nvflash program
If you could help with this lou0611, I would be forever indebted. Here is nvflash with the boot-loader drivers:
http://illdill.org/streak7/files/nvflash3.zip
Holding down Volume Up & Down while plugging in the usb will get you into APX mode. Your computer should recognize an APX device (your screen will remain blank). Choose to manually install the drivers from the bootloader-drivers folder in the zip file.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Try pulling out the USB, powering off (reset pinhole by sd card) and going back into APX mode again, this usually happens when it isn't comming with the device properly, may need to restart computer as well.
And again, thanks so much for your help with this.

Stuck in Fastboot
I did vital mistake by going into Fastboot without enabling USB debugging and now I can not get out!
I tried holding down the power button for minutes and also reversed the the method in how how got into this mess [holding Power+Volume(-)] with no success.
The worst part is I just bought it and played with it for no more than one hour!!
Please help!!!
Just use the pinhole reset by the sd card.
I woke up this morning to a dead battery, I plugged the charger and let is sit for ten minutes. Then, It powered up...relief!!
Thanks for the tip on the reset pin hole button.
fastboot devices, does not see the dell streak 7, drivers are installed properly, adb works fine.

Fastboot Commands
Where do I type them in? If I launch Fastboot.exe (after resolving the adbwinapi.dll not found issue) it pops up in a command console but then immediately disappears. Do I have to use a standard command prompt? (cmd.exe) and if so, what directory do I need to be in?
Thanks.
Lol, this post seems funny now after all i've been through. How quick we learn.
Run then cmd. Enter. You should be at a command window. If you have the device on plug it up and type adb devices. Enter. should pull up your serial number. Whatever path you created should read after the c:/ whatever path you created.

If I use 'adb' i get command not recognized. If I do 'fastboot reboot' I get <waiting for device>. If I do 'fastboot devices' it just reproduces the command prompt with no other response. Am I not properly mounted to the device?

Your missing drivers then. Or you didn't create a path when installing sdk. I suggest a fresh install of sdk with this guide.

Hmm. So i have used fastboot many times before and I can't seem to make it work for this device. 2 machines, sdk installed propperly and still no go. It can't find the device... any ideas?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
The drivers for the device are stored on the sd card. Mount your internal sd to your pc and pull the drivers. Install the driver for your os. That should fix it. If you installed sdk and the latest platform tools along with the google drivers you should be set once the drivers are installed. Also when you put your device into fastboot and plug it into the pc does it ask to install new hardware? Mine did. But seems like your missing the drivers.
Sent from Re-Engineered dInc
nope. drivers were installed. i see the device in the device manager. i tried version 2 of the drivers that comes with the streak and also tried version 4 that comes with the sdk. nothing
Does adb work?
Sent from Re-Engineered dInc
adb devices shows the device when it is booted in android.
Can you run commands through adb with a command window? If so then fastboot technically should work. What's it list in device manager under android phone? Something composite. When I get home ill see what mine says when Im in fastboot.

Tested and works (thanks jnl) I'm posting a link to CG61.img for easy loading extracted from 1FF-olympus_hktw-userdebug-2.3.4-4.5.2A-5_OLH-3-110614-test-keys-Retail-05.sbf
Download moto-fastboot for your os from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138092
CG61.img Link - MD5 = 9151fca5183b85953d7afed83364802a
https://www.rapidshare.com/files/4119742271/CG61.img
Steps I followed on OSX:
Download CG61.img (placed in same directory as moto-fastboot)
Place your device in fastboot mode via the volume-down then volume-up procedure and verify it exists with ./moto-fastboot devices
./moto-fastboot flash webtop CG61.img
./moto-fastboot reboot
You might have to reboot the device 2X after this is complete before the webtop option shows up when docked
----=== NO NEED TO FOLLOW THE BELOW STEPS UNLESS YOU EXTRACT FROM THE SBF ===----
Below is from JNL:
Since I have the lapdock and did not want to revert to Froyo, I thought I'd give a more detailed explanation than the hint I worked from to re-enable webtop (with firefox 4.0.1!):
Download the leaked HK/TW sbf file and the 'sbf_flash' for linux (I did this under 32-bit ubuntu).
use sbf_flash -x 1FF-olympus_hktw...sbf
This will extract a collection of .img files.
Place your device in fastboot mode via the volume-down then volume-up procedure and verify it exists with:
sudo ./moto-fastboot32 devices
Then:
sudo ./moto-fastboot32 flash webtop CG61.img
This will run a 3-step flashing process. Once completed, do:
sudo ./moto-fastboot32 reboot
Voila. Webtop works and actually seems faster.
Hope this helps.

I am guessing this should work in Windows as well I am currently installing Windows 7 under VMware Fusion on my mac to confirm.
confirmed I could run this from Windows and did not get any errors back so performing this via the windows moto-fastboot should work as expected
Updated CG61.img link from DropBox to RapidShare due to DropBox shutting the link down due to excessive downloads (according to them)
So, I did the 1st step and nothing happened.
Do I have to do the 2nd step? If yes, where I find "sbf_linux" and "1FF-olympus_hktw...sbf"?

You only need to follow the first section (Download the img file and download moto-fastboot for your os)
Are you saying that after you download the img and run moto-fastboot devices you do not see your device listed?
Can you post exactly whats happening when you run moto-fastboot devices then try to load the image on your device via moto-fastboot flash webtop CG61.img (make sure CG61.img is in your moto-fastboot directory)

I am trying to get my bros captivate into download mode and his power button is broken. I tried doing this command:
Method 1: ADB - from recovery or normally booted with usb debugging on)
1.Open a cmd prompt/console/shell
2.adb shell
3.adb reboot download
but after i typed "prompt/console/shell" adb shell would not work?? It said it wasnt excutable batch...anyone here can help me figure out what Im doing wrong?Edit:FYI the phone was on debugging at at the home screen while trying this. The phone doesnt turn off and there is not app in the market that can turn off the phone without root. And since his power button is broken I cant ODIN root access( to use quick boot)
This is whats is happening:
Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner>prompt/console/shell
/console/shell adb shell
'adb' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
/console/shell adb reboot download
'adb' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
/console/shell
You have to change directories to where adb is installed
Type cd c: (where you put have adb)
Then your adb commands
And console/shell/adb shell
Shouldn't be needed, once in the proper folder simply "adb reboot download" should do it.
adb doesn't have the ability to put the Captivate into DL mode. So even if you added ADB to your enviornmental variable, you won't be able to get it into DL mode..

Try this lil tuto:
1. Open the Windows Device Manager
2. Connect to phone in Fastboot mode (phone off -> Volume + key pressed -> connecting cable)
3. Connect your phone and ignore Windows messages. Quickly go to Device Manager and look for that just appeared "S1Boot Fastboot". Right click and click "Update Driver Software", once done you can relax, you can release the Volume + key and disconnect the phone. [NOTE: If Windows is trying to install the driver, you will not see "Update Driver Software" until it stops, so hurry].
4. Click "Search for driver software on your computer"
5. Click "Choose from a list of device drivers on my computer"
6. Select "Show all devices" (or something, I can not see the exact text)
7. Click "Use Disk ..."
8. Click "Browse ..."
9. Select the android_winusb.inf (in the folder with Fastboot usb_driver the USB drivers) and open
10. Click "OK"
11. If you get a list of 3 devices, choose "Android Bootloader Interface"
12. BEFORE pressing "Next" you need to reconnect the phone in fastboot mode, here you have to be fast again. Unplug the phone if you had not done before. Plug it back into fastboot mode. Once you do click "Next" on the computer.
13. If you followed the instructions correctly have the drivers installed before the phone was disconnected again.
14. Now you have the drivers installed, the phone will not slip out of Fastboot mode and everything should work properly.

But, I was trying to unlock bootloader. Where I can see if it worked? Now I see that my sdcard0 has formatted with internal data. But I'm trying to install CWM with a kernel.elf (autoroot & CWM) using Flashtool. But... Flashtool says that I must be rooted before doing this. WUT?
Edit: I also see that I lost DRM keys, but I've got a backup to restore them. So... bootloader is unlocked!
Edit: RESOLVED! I restored DRM keys before flash kernel.elf, and it was wrong. So I repeated the procedure without DRM keys and... beautiful CWM with root now I think I can restore my DRM keys. Heheh

It work, but I couldn't do anything with my tablet. First I power off tablet, then I push Power and Volume + about 5 second. That combination enable specially mode. Nvidia wrote in guide . All appearance, this is it mode. Next, I connect tablet to PC and type, for example, sudo nvflash --getpartitiontable ./ . This command should read partition table, but nothing happens. If I disconnect tablet, I get error. And, thats all. Someway can I use nvflash?

Is that nvflash compatible with tegra 4 devices? As far as I'm aware it oinlky works on tegra 3......
I think so. Nvidia flash script (for developer tablet Dalmore) work through nvflash. There is line in it:
DFLT_FLASHAPPNAME="nvflash"
