[Q] Slacker and CM7 nightly 32 - Nook Color General

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to get Slacker to work on nightly #32? I have uninstalled, reinstalled, fixed permissions, moved to SD etc, and still get force closes. When I reinstall it gets to the login screen and I put in the info click on sign-in and screen goes dark about 30 seconds later get force close menu.

I am now on rc4 and still having the sane problem any help would be appreciated.

The latest update from slacker seemed to fix the issues for me on phiremod 5.2

Thanks, that did the trick. They must of released a updated version since the last time I tried.

Google Maps update?

Anyone have any idea why when I try to update it, the download goes fine, it says 'installing' for a bit, then it goes to Myn's Donut startup animation (like my phone restarts but I don't see the linux screen first). I have plenty of space and have tried it multiple times...
If you're running this on Donut (which I'm assuming since you said something about that page) try uninstalling it first and then reinstalling. This is the issue I had when they first pushed some updates for the version 4 of google maps I think?
Thanks I'll try that...
That fixed it...

[Q] Nookie Froyo force close issues

I was pretty happy with Nookie Froyo last night; it seemed to be working well enough & the market was going fine. I had one point where I had to open Rom Manager and set permissions, and it seemed to go on its way & be happy.
Today on the commute in, it fell apart. MortPlayer barfed on a directory, and wouldnt open, continually force closing as soon as it starts. Going into settings & hitting clear data and clear cache didnt do anything: the amount of KB used for both remained exactly the same. I opened Rom Manager, and it force closed immediately. I tried going into settings for it and doing clear data / clear cache, but again the amount of KB used for both remained exactly the same.
How can I fix this? What are likely causes for clear data / clear cache not having any effect? I've seen this last problem quite frequently on my various android devices-- Rom Manager seemed like the perfect fix (only found it last night) but now Rom Manager itself is borked. Help please.
For reference, I have plenty of experience with command lines, and have su, terminal, and adb all working fine. I just dont know what I need to do. And-- on my previous distro-- I found some mounts werent happy about remounting rw.
also, are there logs on these application crashes?
I had the same problem. Are you using a patriot card? Was the wifi on?
I reboot and leave the wifi off. Turn off time automatic update.
Not sure if that what fix it for me. Would not hurt to try.
Using an ADATA "class 10" card (pshaw! 6mb/s does not class ten make!). I was in Airplane mode on the commute. I'll try turning of automatic update.
Let me know. I would like to find out what is happening.
this is interesting i get these force closes on both my centon and kingmax cards cm7 and nookie froyo respectively. The force closes then go into an epidemic with framework services fc every app launch. it makes the nook unusable until reboot then it happens all over again. i use the nook praying the browser doesnt crash then force close hell ensues. I hope there's a fix
based on the lack of responses in this thread i assume this is a known issue. I'll continue to Google a cure

Wifi issue in CM 7.0.2

I used Rom Manager to update to CM 7.0.2 today. I also included the gapp update. After reboot, all applications seem fine. Even my LCD density setting was as before (it's supposed to be reset at each reboot). However, my nook color cannot detect any wifi. All of them are out of range.
I rebooted several more times but that didn't help. So I just restored to old ROM. However, the problem remains. What's worse, none of my installed apps, except for the gapps, are runnable. My nook color is useless now.
I guess I will have to do everything from start again. But what was the problem? I wish I had never tried to update to 7.0.2. I was quite happy on CM7.

I have had CM7.0.2 installed for a few days now and have not had any issues with it. Did you wipe /system and /data before installing? It sounds like it could be a hardware issue if this is the case.
migrax
Dunno about the apps not running, but the wifi borking like that is a common problem.
You just have to "forget" your known wifi hotspots. I've heard people saying that forgetting just one will work. The one time it happened to me i just took them all out.
See sig...
My wifi works fine after installing 7.0.2 and the OC kernel, but the indicator in the notification bar no longer works. It shows zero bars no matter what. It's the same on two different brands of routers. No big deal though, just an aesthetic thing I guess.
I didn't wipe /system or /data, for whatever that's worth.
edit: forgetting the network and reconnecting fixed it.
I'm having the same issues...
Sent from my NookColor using XDA Premium App
I also noticed the same on 7.0.2. Perhaps is it is just aesthetics but I was noticing other minor glitches (simi clock fails and battery gauge) so fell back to 7.0 and things are moving along swimmingly.
One thing to keep an eye out for is that CM7.0.0 and 7.0.2 apparently dont like AES encryption on wifi. I had a hell of a time getting my wifi to work on my new nook as of Wednesday (omg so much fun) but once I switched my router to TKIP it works great. Kind of annoying, but a simple fix.
2.6.32 is coming *soon* and it allows me to build a new wifi driver. This will hopefully fix the AES issue that some people have.
phiremod's 6.2 has solved this wifi issue.....not sure what build he is using

I was in the same pain, but backed down one version to the nightly 55 release and it's been beautiful. Clearly they're working on the new version, since there hasn't been a nightly in about a week. I'm fairly new to CM, and it wasn't hard. Download the ZIP, boot into recovery - flash the ZIP, wipe cache and came right up. Do your backups (nandroid and titanium) just in case, as always. ;-)
I had same problem. Then I did install official Nook Color Stock firmware. Wifi works perfectly... So CM 7.0.2 has software based problem...
By the way, I have never used OCed setting...

I've never used the overclocked settings beyond what CM will offer.. the 925mhz. Considering going to the 1.1ghz since others are reporting that's stable.
But seriously - go to the 55 version of the nightly build. In my experience, the WiFi is FAR more stable than the official 7.0.2 release.

Thanks, worked as a charm

had tried hard reset, multiples on/off of wi-fi
but forgetting one network did the trick

[Q] Google Navigation busted

Ever since the last update to maps the navigation gets stuck on the start up screen and vibrates constantly. I thought it might be because i was running cm7 so i flashed back to stock, 2.2. I still had the same issue so i tried 2.3.5, no change. I am currently back on cm7. I was wondering if anyone else was having this issue. Hopefully it's a simple fix, I rather enjoy that app. Thanks in advance.
I had this issue as well. The newest maps update (6.0.1) fixed it for me.
If it doesn't fix it for whatever reason, you can get around it by opening maps first and then opening navigation from there, but an update should help.
had the same thing when running CM7 nightlies, updating maps and changing to ICS worked mine out just fine.

Launcher = crash

Hey all, got a problem which needs solving - haven't been able to figure this one out myself.
Okay, here's the dealio:
I'm running CM 12.1 nightly on my HTC One (m7) device and haven't really had any problems which proved to be as hard to solve as this one. My launcher - i use ADWLauncher -constantly crashes no matter what I do (Trebuchet is acting no differently).
Also noteworthy, many areas of my settings are unreachable (such as settings->apps) as they immediately crash upon attempting to access them as well. I've tried numerous methods to fix this annoyance to no avail.
This has been ongoing for over a week now although yesterday my launcher worked flawlessly for a good 8 hours (just the launcher, the other crashables within 'settings' were still crashing. And now for some reason a selection of my apps are crashing as well.

Do not expect nightly builds of CM to be stable and bug free. You should only flash a nightly build if you are ready to deal with various bugs. I would try the latest stable or at least snapshot build (if available) and see if you have the same problems.
I hadn't upgraded for a few days when this started which leads me to believe it's not cm's fault but I'll take your advice and give a go with a stable then post my results. Thank you for your time [:=
Got it
Turns out it was an application I had installed causing some sort of confliction. Managed to uninstall it (after a whole lot of messing around due to being unable to access most of my system) and everything has been working just fine ever since.
The app was SD Maid.......
