Hello everyone.. I tried searching but couldn't find my answer..
What I want to do is to make the Quickoffice APP display text as Microsoft Office Word would have done it.
So I'd like to know, is there any way to hack the APK file and add the font I'd like it to support? or maybe change one of the defaults with the one I want?
I was digging in APK using WinRAR but never found a font directory..
Any solutions?

(ATT FUZE) I've tried googling and browsing through the preferences in opera:config, but is there a way to change the default web search from the landscape menu from Yahoo? I absolutely hate yahoo.

Curious myself as well. I have looked all over the net with no luck so far.
I'm using the Sprint Touch Pro using Juggalo rom and when I click on web search in landscape it brings up Google. Might want to ask him on ppcgeeks.com I don't know if he post here or not.
Mine changed to google when I changed to the tf3d landscape theme..
I was unable to find any other way of doing this, but it has to be possible since its something within manila I expect.
I currently use the ROMeOS2 Confuzed ROM and when I use the landscape search it uses google so there is definitely a way to get that setup just wit around for someone to point it out for you.

In windows directory there is a file called
ActionMenuItems.xml
Change from read only
Change the http ://us.m2. yahoo blah blah to whatever you want.
change back to read only
reboot phone.
I tried this, and now all my buttons show email and are not clickable. Could someone post thier working or unedited xml file so I can see if i accidentally changed something?
can someone upload a copy of the ActionMenuItems.xml file? my rom is missing this file. Thank you.
Edit: Winmo 6.5 doesn't come with ActionMenuItems.xml or InternetPortal.xml. I found them in a kitchen file. They worked.
Long time lurker, first time poster... I have been learning a lot really fast about customizing different aspects of the eris, but what I have been really searching hard for is a way to customize certain components to add to an already great rom. Right now I am running Eris_Official_0.8.1T2 btw. Anyways what I am really looking for is something like this forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=654852 Mostly the Launcher is what I really want to change but to be able to tweak everything else would be great too. If someone knows how to do this or can point me in the right direction to maybe even learn how myself I would greatly appreciate it.

unzip the rom files
system/framework/com.htc.resources
once in there go to
res/drawable-port-mdpi
the file named common_app_rosie_navbar.png
is the launcher, and thats the main thing u need to edit.
and also go to
system/apps/rosie.apk
one inside the apk go to
res/drawable-normal-mdpi
and
drawable-normal-port-mdpi
edit those to your liking
Wow I feel dumb now lol... Ive been poking around in com.htc.resources for a couple days now and completely overlooked that... Thanks alot... Only question I have now is how do I remove the word phone that overlayed on the launcher? I would post a screenshot of my home screen but since im a new user its not allowing me.

well I uploaded a photo to my album so if you feel like checking it out just go to my profile... Im starting to like the phone (icon and word) over the orb but if anyone knows how to remove the word for future reference please let me know... I am also trying to find out how to change the status bar's clock color, which searching around has brought me to editing the services.jar or services.odex file but Im still uncertain on how to do this. Any input would be great.

Right click and open with winrar or 7zip. Once you have edited the images you will have to resign either the .apk or the rom. Depending on if you are editing the whole rom or not. Hope I was able to help
Does anyone have any ideas as to how one could go about creating GO Contacts Themes.
I've developed both Go Launcher and GOSMS Themes, but don't know how to get started on GO Contacts.
Maybe someone has a template they can share?
If not, is there a way I can unpack the a theme's apk file to use?

I also wanted to know as well..i decompiled .apk and find that need to Change lots of pngs and some xml. But it would be easy to have theme maker..

Why do they have a themer for the sms and not the launcher & contacts?
But... Since they do have easy to dld themes for the contacts, I am thinking we can just download a theme, and decompile it.

Hey ya'll! I realize that this thread is a little old, but I need some help with my Go Contacts. I've decompiled several .apk's to edit to my liking but when I open it in my editor (Gimp) it will not allow me to change the colors. For example, anything I try to change no matter the color it just turns grey. It is to my understanding that I have just been using "locked" apk's. Would anyone happen to have one they might share with me? Or give me some guidance on how to get past this? Thanks for any help!

U shoud use the apk manager ....to uncompil the phone apk....then change the png images and the last to compile again the phone apk.

what do you want to modify??
If you want to change some grafics in the "phone.apk" then you also have to modify the "contacts.apk".
Which Rom do you use?

I've tried and found the right places to mod, it is easy, but could decompile the phone.apk correctly on windows...(errors). I was too lazy to install linux... also AngelofMors has modified phone and contacts apk till version 20l... on 4pda.ru
I use them, sync up high res 400*400 pics from social sites and have superb in call screen photos for my friends...

Thumb Keyboard has WP7 keyboard sounds. I use it, and it's good. It's also got a normal keyboard layout if you're not comfortable with its split layout.

actually i also have wp7.5 so i just love the sound and smiley of windows. so i was thinking of importing them into android.

I'd suggest you join a WP7 forum, and ask around for where you can get those sound files. In the keyboard application or in the system, and how to get to them. Then, the audio file I'm pretty sure would go into the keyboard apk ( I haven't looked inside it, but it should be there). The smileys, however, are found in framework-res.apk. I think UOT onlike kitchen (uot.dakra.lt) would have a set that you'd like.
If you manage to import the keypress sound, please, please share!

I found these WP7 keypress sounds in thumbkeyboard's apk. They are ogg files, and oddly, VLC won't play them. You can try to replace them in your keyboard's apk, see if that works. You can get info on repacking and signing apks on the forum ;-)
[EDIT] I don't know if it really is appropriate (read: legal) of me to share a paid app's resources like this.
Quite frankly, installing a keyboard seems much more logical, easier, and faster than actually trying to include those files into android. Why would you NOT want to install a keyboard that's just better than the stock keyboard, can be made to look like the stock keyboard (gingerbread and ICS keyboard themes available, along with ipad and a customisation options to boot), AND has the elements you're looking for?
