[Q] Weather on lockscreen - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone know of a way to get the weather on the lockscreen, without getting an extra app. I'm currently using the Epic Unlock and would like to add weather to it.

Weather bug lets u display temperature in status bar, if that helps.

Yeah, Beautiful Widgets let's me do the same. I would just like to mod my current one to include the weather from Beautiful Widgets or Fancy Widgets. I think this would be a really cool mod.

I use beautiful widgets (which you say you have, so I'm not counting it as an "extra app") I set my background to the beautiful live weather wallpaper, so that should do what you want it to I think.
If you don't want the weather as you permanent wallpaper, most custom roms will let you choose a specific wallpaper for your lockscreen.
I really like having the weather as my background as it's one of the really quick and easy way I can disgrace all the iphone folks.

Simple clock widget?

I can't seem to find three default android clock widget and the market us flooded with crap. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Unfortunately Samsung didn't include any stock Android clock widgets. They did include the Nexus One live wallpaper though, so go figure. I recommend throwing down for Beautiful Widgets, it's like $1.90 and can do amazing things.
"Weather and toggle widget" $1.99.
I've always liked the "Sense" flip clock and this is satisfies my taste.
I use one that's just called Digital Clock Widget by Maize. Just a really simple digital time with the day under it. Can be a 1x2 or a 1x4 widget. Not TOO much customization, but it definitely does the job well.
What's wrong with the Samsung Clock Widget that comes with the phone?
I am using Retro Clock.

I really like this app too, plus it has many downloadable skins you can get for the clock and weather.
Fancy Widget is nice and free (but i can't post a link since i'm a newbie)
lol, no one knows how to get the default clock widget. I'm surprised. To me that was one of the trademarks of android. That big clock widget on the G1
And has anyone figured out how to remove the clock from the status bar on the top? I did a search, but nothing turned up. . .

predator clock widget 1x4 setting is awesome .u can change colors to match ur wallpapers very cool ul love it and its free in the market
It is is not a simple clock widget, but Fancy Widget Pro is da bomb!
I use "animated analog clock" by DNS project. It has seconds hand! 99% of clocks have no seconds! Is it really that hard to makes clock shows seconds??
I like Simi Clock Widget. Clean appearance, can launch multiple apps by tapping, and its free.
Fancy Widget Pro is the best out there for clock and weather. Has so many skins and new ones every day!

I've been looking for a Android digital clock with "seconds" since I left WM Not sure why we don't have any....

SenseUI style clock?

I love the SenseUI clock widget....is there something just like it?? Preferrably one that shows the date too
Have a look at "Beautiful Widgets". They have a theme-able clock which looks similar.

Fancy widget
Weather widget donate version looks good and had a whole bunch of skins...
My phone's been flashed more than Girls Gone Wild...
I've got both fancy widget and Beautiful widgets. Both can be set to look like sense however I prefer beautiful widgets because it has more skins and programmable options such as you can choose what apps to open when tapping the weather, clock and date. I have mine set to open my weather bug pro, alarm and calendar similar to the sense UI
Is there any way, any where to get the Fancy Widget anymore? I'm guessing its been taken down...

IMHO Fancy widget is as close as you can be to Sense. BW or WW are off as far as I like. BW is too close to edges and WW is a bit too low within widget.

widget locker.

didn't know where to put this. I've seen widget locker posted on other forums but not on the Fascinate. For those that want a cool lock screen, check this app out.
It allows a custom wallpaper for the lock screen, plus it can change your lock mechanism from Iphone to HTC sense and 6 others. Allows access to full notification bar,and you can add shortcuts and a slider for anything.
I'm attaching a pic of my phone. I don't know how to do a perfect screengrab like i see others do, so i'll take a pic.
For screen captures you want to download drocap from market

Lockscreen customisation - What apps are you using?

The lockscreen is the only part of my Nexus S I haven't customised yet.
What are your favourite apps and mods for the lockscreen? Mind sharing them and perhaps a screenshot?
Cheers,
L
Widgetlocker, you can get it from the market.
Then look up some custom sliders, there are some great minimalist ones out there that are far prettier than the standard android one. I may get round to adding more here but for now check that out, its how i did mine.
Thank you Corvidd, will check both out!
Is there anything to bring notifications on the lockscreen at all?

You can add widget in widgetlocker, then you got notifications in lockscreen...
You can also let notification bar free to be open and add shortcuts... really useful app.

Widgetlocker for sliders.
Widgetsoid for power control toggles.
SimiClock for Weather, time and battery.
In Widgetlocker - enable the notification bar.
The end result of all this is a ridiculous amount of 1 click functionality from your lock screen.
I also use NoLED for notifications along with WidgetLocker, works well.
Hope this helps!
I used MetaMorph for my lockscreen.

Anyone tried GOTO Lockscreen?
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.innowebtech.g0t0
It has more or less what I want although I would really just like a list of all the notification with ability to launch directly the associated app on the lockscreen..
I hear this is what Sense 3 does but can't find an example anywhere..

Love GoLauncher, but need things changed

I run MIUI and am sick of the launcher (app drawer, etc.) I like GoLauncher with its widgets and such. There are a few things I want changed though, and I would like to know if it has been done.
First, I like how the icons in MIUI are really large, in GO, they are very small. Can they be changed in GO?
Secondly, I like how the text under the icons in MIUI do not have the black background. Is this possible in GO?

I didn't know they had one. I will take a look.
Launcher Pro is the only launcher I think that can remove the icon label backgrounds.
One of the reasons I love it. I do wish it had bigger icons and maybe a 4 icon dock.

I like GoLauncher better because of home swipe actions, the ease of changing icons on both homescreen n dock and overall smoothness...
This is why I use ADW EX.. you can customize everything to do with the icons.. Size, background of icon, text color, size, fully customize the dock, instantaneous drawer (I find go launcher drawer to always have SOME lag), tons of themes, same swipe gesture options and screen animations.. The only thing you lose is the widgets and there are other market Apps that take care of that.

Same here.. LPP and GO are great, but ADW customization go further (no dock is a sweet feature too)... but ADW is not as smooth as the two others, I mean that when you want to edit stuff (widget size, placing shortcut elsewhere, etc) it feels weird, not as responsive, I don't like it but it's the only negative point so I live fine with it.. pros and cons..
In go launcher i use desktop visualizer to get some real big icons, miui style. It gives me even the option to open shortucs to folder organizer.

I just downloaded Desktop Visualizer and I did not find the option in there for icon size. How are you doing it?
Long press the icon from dvisualizer that you just added to your home screen and choose resize.
Dvisualizer is a widget, you can resize it just like any other widget.
