Recommended Micro SD Cards That Work w/G2x

Hey guys if you guys could post some links of compatible or recommend me some 16gb/32gb micro SD cards that work with the G2x that would be great. I live in the USA.

All microSD brands should work...

OKay I was reading reviews and notice some don't work with Android devices. This one in particular.

The Lexar 32gb class 10 supposed to be good And you will probably need a class 4-10 because of writing while your filming 1080p... you dont want any lag

Yes, the Lexar 32GB works absolutely fine and is class 10, which is a MUST with such a fast phone.

I bought a Wintech 16gb Class 10 at Fry's on sale for 29.99 months ago. Works well with Samsung Galaxy S phones and my LG G2X. Sure beats the silly Class 2 that came with the Galaxy phones. Its normal price is about $32. The Wintech 32gb Class 10 is 89. These are legit class 10 micro sd cards and I have benchmark tested them. Don't buy fake crap sold on Ebay from China. Beware as they sell 4gb micro sd cards labeled as 16gb and class 10. Try putting more than 4 gb total in the card and it says storage is full.

I'm about to get my G2X later this week and I was wondering the same thing.
Do I really need a Class 10 though?
Also... what's a good size'd card for someone who wont be going crazy with the 1080p camera?
I just want to add a few movies here and there on the phone plus apps and music with some room for misc docs.
I'm looking for the combination of speed/capacity/and affordability.
Anymore suggestions?

Thanks. What class would you recommend?
Regardless of class, I think I'll start out with a 16g and see how that goes. I'm pretty sure I'll be fine. I'll spend the bigger bucks on a 2-4 gig class 6-10 for a dedicated dSLR with 1080p recording.

I have noted that everywhere I see Droid 3's specs I see text: "with memory card, storage is expandable up to 32GB."
Is this correct? Did this phone support only max. 16GB cards?

The SDcard slot supports a 32GB micro SD. I have the 32GB that came with my Tbolt in mine.

What do you mean by "Class 10 incompatibilities"?

I have a Class 10 32GB SD Card, but it caused my phone to bootloop, i'm currently using a 16GB Class 6 card and its working flawlessly.

I kept the 32gb micro sd card from my droid charge, works amazing in the d3!

yeah it was, it was chinese cheapy. i guess thats to be expected when you buy it off ebay for $20 >_>

Careful, this is a class4 card and therefore quite slow. It will have trouble with high quality pics or HD videos, since you cannot write on it very fast.

True but it also negates the problems with class 10 that many people have been having. I was going to buy a class 10 and format without lba but this is half price and less hassle.

the stock SD in my bionic looks to be a class 4, so i doubt many users would notice any speed degradation

Class 4 is more than adequate for 1080 vids or the max quality setting on the Bionic's camera.

Recommend me an SD card.

I'm on a budget here, and I'm looking for an external SD to place all my media.
Thing is, I don't need to have amazing transfer speeds from PC to card.
I just play media on phone, and I don't frequently take videos on my phone.
So what's the best card for me? I suppose class 10 cards aren't a necessity for me right?

I bought a SanDisk 64GB Micro SDXC from Amazon for $45. Don't know what your budget is so it is hard to recommend something.

Just get a standard Class 10 mSD card. Unless of course you want 64GB in which case you would want to get the SanDisk Ultra 64GB

I totally agree.

Whatever your budget and size-need is; make sure you buy a card that is class 10. Class 4 are too slow for files transfers; they're good for the normal reading of audio and video files but the transfers (in and out) are just a pain-slow...

WOAH! Anyone have any experience with any of these Sony SD cards? Looks like they're priced to move...

I heard eg class 6 performs better than class 10 in some scenarios.
Is class 10 always the way to go?

I've had a class 4 kingstone micro sd card and it worked extremely fine with media files .. I think class 10 just for media is a little bit far

Sandisk 32 gig class 10 is $22 on amazon. The class 6 is a couple dollars more. You won't need the higher class for what you are doing. Just for basic pics and music a class 6 is fine. Also I advise against the 64 gig if you are using CWM recovery and/or a aosp ROM. They aren't friends.

I have a sandisk sd 64 and I really like it. For most basic users like yourself I would suggest looking for a bargain deal. Amazon has SD cards on sale most of the time, I wouldn't buy anything unless it was on sale if budget is important.

Recommendations for micro sd

My 16 gig kingston filled up quite rapidly after 2 weeks so I'm looking in getting a 32 or 64 micro sd but not sure what I shall get.
I see theres sdhc sdxc but not sure whats the differences.
I read theres issues with sandisk so I was thinking of either samsung lexar or kingston.
Also does the note 2 use the class 10 cards to its fullest as in its max read/write speeds?
I've read its pointless paying extra for the class 10 cards since the note2 dont use it to the fullest

either buy 32gb or 64gb any company OTHER THAN SCANDISK ............................it Sucks big time. i have scandisk 32gb and it keeps on unmounting mounting every now and than .

sandisk 64gb class 10

The Note II can use a 64 gb sdcard. I would only use a class 10. Its way quicker tranferring files, or taking videos. Also you can use SD-Booster. Download from the Play Store. Its free. You can tell the sdcard at what speed to be ruiing at. 2048, 4096, etc, etc. Phone must be rooted to use.

I have and currently use the ScanDisk Extreme 64GB SDXC class 10 card. I haven't had, or at least noticed, any issues while using it. I just formatted the card right away when I installed in the phone.
You may want to install directorybind. I believe you need root. A lot of app install on the phone's storage, not on the SDcard. So you may want to check if your card or phone storage filled up. Other than that, I would suggest moving pictures and videos off your phone if you have a lot.

I've been using the Sandisk 64GB class 10 card as well and have no issues for about 3 months now. (Knocks on wood)! There's currently a deal on both the 32gb and 64gb Sandisk at Adorama. Though there's been a few reporting failures with the Sandisk cards in the Note 2. So YMMV!

My SanDisk ultra class 10 went bad after 3 mos. Now I am using Samsung. Too many reports of bad SanDisk cards on the forums, I had 2 go bad, I am done with SanDisk.

If you use a swap file on the SD card, it will go bad way faster than normal. I avoid using the card for a swap file.

Lexar
I've been using a Lexar 32GB Class 10 Micro SDHC card for many months. Both in the Note 2 and previously to that in an S3 -- no issues ever. No crashes, no unmounts, no corruption, etc.

I got mine when amazon had them for $40. I got two. One is in a tablet, no issues. The one in the GN2, I originally put in my Evo 4G and it worked fine; it couldn't get class 10 speed, but worked very well with Boot Manager

I just bought a kingston 64gb sdxc class 10 earlier @ frys for $40 after tax.
They have a sale expire tonite it was just a weekend sale and I was lucky to grab the last 1
Got it install and man this card is quick much better than my old class 4 lol

It's been great and no issues at all. Reformatted it afew times from exfat32 to fat32 to exfat32 without any issues
Now I'm keeping it exfat32 since I have no urge to use non tw base roms
Definitely worth every penny

Get a Samsung branded one to avoid the mounting and unmounting problems. Ivd go that route when my 32gb dies.

I have two Samsung 32 gb class 10 cards, one in my Note 2 and one in my 10.1. Both purchaced from Amazon, no issues with either card.
