It's dutch they asked LG when the update comes and if it's true that it comes this month
LG netherlands said:

It's true that LG is working hard to update the phone too android 2.3 but we are a bit careful too tell you a update date. The Optimus One will get gingerbread first and then in the summer the Optimus 2x Speed will follow

in the summer means when?

2.3 is not such a big deal. I am on 2.3.3 CM7 on my MT4G. I am waiting on the G2x.
2.4 will be a big deal, as I believe it is supposed to be set up for duel core processors, which neither 2.2 nor 2.3 are. There are smartphone coming out soon with 2.4 as OEM, but apparently not this one.
For LG and TMo to spend any time getting an OTA out with gingerbread would really be a waste of time and resources at this point.

Defenitely waiting for 2.4, can't wait to see what this beast can do when both cores are used the way they are ment to be used.

Nope 2.3 is already DualCore optimized. 2.2 only "supports" DualCores. I don't think that 2.4 will have huge changes in the thread manager, since it's already optimized in 2.3.

As far as I know, 2.4 will also have gpu-accelerated gui. Can anyone confirm?

No news on that too. But 2.2 is not fully optimized for dual cores yet.

Well no, but it does have dualcore support, even though it's not optimized for that.

Since it will be a phone version of honeycomb more or less i belive that is correct yes..

well, 2 weeks is a short time. Doesn't make too much of a diff I guess. Coz my last updated v10d SEA (south east asia) version has been rock-solid stable. No BSOD or reboots.. except for vignette very seldom the app was unresponsive but after that, it's fine again.
So for me GB no longer necessary. v10d really solved all my BSOD and reboots problems.

I am on a custom ROM right now...how can I get back on the original LG wagon? do I just flash to the new GB LG Rom and from then on I'll get LG updates?
Also, where do I get the 2.2 LG Rom that phone came with? Lost my backup that I made before flashing it.
Flash original stock ROM from here then you will able to use LG S/W Updater again.
i'm wondering if it's 2.3.3 like optimus one or straight to 2.3.4
It's confirmed as 2.3.4 by LG, and by first leaks.

if will not aarive on 15 september i swear that i will never buy an lg phone again. samsung is more friendly with their coustumers...

That's funny.
How do you even know it s going to be better than the current roms?
Or, another question: what do you expect it will bring new? Do you think it will make the phone a quad core monster with a 7 days battery life?
Don't think too much about Samsung. On their forum most of the people are complaining about battery drain and other bugs. No one is perfect.
Don't get me wrong, i also want to update my phone to the latest Android. But i realize that it s not going to be something spectacular, like the introduction of Flash in Froyo, so there' s no reason to make too much fuss out of it

Thinking of returning LG Thrill 4ag

I still have 15 days left to return, if LG Thrill doesn't get Gingerbread or Icecream soon, I'm gonna exchange and get the Galaxy S II Skyrocket.....
Sent from my LG-P925 using xda premium
Might as well return it then... GB for O3D wont be rolling out till next week so its probably not likely to be here for thrill for a while. I for one am going to have some patience, but I like the 3D, and can see its potential for more than just games and YouTube videos. So I'm hanging on to my thrill. Plus, I would be surprised if the thrill isn't one of the first phones to get an ICS port. B/c of the similarities to the nexus...

We'll see an ICS port before we see an official GB release for the Thrill...and thats not to say its going to take a long time for ICS. But porting does take some time and patience is a virtue.
But doesn't custom roms 'disables stuff on on phones? Maybe 3D function? (Noob here) I too am thinking of selling my thrill..(got offered $300) n getting a SG note. .what should I do?
Sent from my LG-P925 using XDA App
I really actually like the thrill but #1 its called the LG Thrill 4G and it doesn't even get 4G service (no matter where I go my download speed is never more than 3Mbps with H+ and full signal bars #2 it doesn't have the 3D Games Converter, #3 the Wifi capabilities are under par, #4 the battery life sucks, #5 recording videos in 3D the audio is not synced to the video whatsoever,
Sent from my LG-P925 using xda premium
I for one would keep it because of the features it has. But if you cant wait for the GB and ICS releases then do what you got to .
If you look at the past experience with other phones you will see the ICS port everyone is counting on is further away than you think. Just because it has a similar CPU (they are slightly different, so they may as well be entirely different) as the GN, doesn't mean anything. Look at the captivate. Its basically the same as the Nexus S, made by the same company using basically the same parts, same GPU, CPU, screen (curved vs flat, but both SAMOLED 800*480). There was never a port from the Nexus S. And that phone had two things the Thrill doesn't: a large user base and a large dev base. The captivate only got GB after i9000 GB was built and leaked. The SGS II won't get ICS until the i9100 does. The skyrocket won't get it until att delivers it, there is no international version to port. But Samsung has had the ICS source for months, LG probably got it this week, and now they need to start all over all the work that took them months and months for GB.
Just thought a reality check would help your decision.
On a side note, the skyrocket will only be marginally better than the Thrill in the dev dept. The skyrocket is so different than the other att GS II, or international that you won't get any ports from those devices. If you want to see the future of the skyrocket check the TMo GS II forum, they are basically the same, and any outside ports will come from there. Its a lot of crickets there too. The Skyrocket is the Thrill of the GS II line: niche device with one feature that makes it nice (LTE vs 3D) and many features that made devs pass it over (battery, unique CPU/GPU, and others) and it has a step brother that is also a device with small (yet bigger) user and dev bases (O3D vs TMo GS II).
Sent from my Galaxy S II (i777)

[Q] Still no ICS !

Back in February, Motorola released a chart with names and dates that told us when each of its Android devices will be getting upgraded to Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich. Unfortunately, it seems the company won't be able to keep its promise for all the announced devices.
The updated chart now showws that the Motorola Atrix 4G, Photon 4G and the Electrify do not qualify for the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade and will remain on Gingerbread. Other devices remain unaffected, with perhaps some minor changes in dates at most.
Our lovely tegra 2 brother Motorola atrix 4G won't have ICS .and i really feel sorry for them. So is there any possibility to happen this with us guys ? what if lg cancel ics too ?we will stuck in GB!
sorry for this post...

Nah, as our sisterphone SU660 have ICS (leak, but from LG). I'm more than confident that the P990 will recive a official ICS too.
Just wait a few days

I've learned my lesson. Nexus Phones only Its a pure google phone and receives all updates upto a certain time of course. The nexux S is on 4.1.1 and i can still see it receiving 1 or 2 major upgrades. If google can just take control make the os for every high end(1Ghz or more) phone and put it on their website it will truly be amazing. I read somewhere that they are trying to do that.

what did you mean by no software support? no ICS yet? is that the bad software support you people are talking about?
I really love it. I don't care for official GB and ICS. Official roms are crap anyway.
It does what it's supposed to do for me - accept calls, shoot video and photos, browse the net, read books, write emails, write some documents and that's pretty much what I want from a smart phone. I've optimized it so that there is no lag for my daily use. And all this productivity I bought for about $180. How can I not be happy?
Personaly i like the 2X but i was disapointed by the fact that the updates don't want to follow.
No official ics, no functionnal JB....
The milestones are never reached and this mobile seams to be unknowed.
2 years after, the S2 is stil sold everywhere but not the 2X.

A rom that doesn't permit to call is not a rom.
The initial function of a phone is to be able to call, not to pray before each call to be able to hear anything.
i always say my relationship with this phone is love, hate, love
its my 1st android, it has a really cool hardware, bad software support from lg, GREAT DEVELOPERS!!! (this one is the most important thing)

For how long did you have yout O2x ? I recon i will never come back to LG like thousands of unhappy costumers, who bought FLAGSHIP phone and got just dumped .. I would wait for Motorolla Nexus, they will be open source.. Wouldn't be nice if you spend 300$ and wait another 2 years for next ROM.. I think android users ain't that stupid to buy "new" model of crappy phone every year (like apple fans do) In my opinion, the best way is to wait for something really nice comming out..
It's a great budget phone, if you can't find a galaxy S2 for the same money then go for it, root it and flash either the gueste or the django manuche roms (try them both) but don't stay with stock (official) rom. Imagine I flashed a new rom the first day i bought my one x and I never regretted it cause it had a huge difference, stock roms suck.

I think no offical JB for phones older than L7.
Why?
Simply, LG will release L3 II, L5 II, L7 II in some weeks from now. And JB for 4x, L7 and L9 is the end of phones from L3 to Optimus 3D, include our Black. With that update, LG will focus to Optimus G Pro, L-seri ver II, and new high-end phones.
IMHO, ICS is all we can get from LG, hope it will be better with D, E, F... version, as far as it can
l7 is a bit powerfull than oby. l7 gets 4000 in antutu
Yeah lg is trying to promote newer phones, thats what i think.

LG does good phones but cheap quality. They also never seem to update their software so you're always forced to buy new phones. Which is a con. I think most phone manufacturers do this.

Well, at least we got ICS ..
AW: JB on L7 why not on p970?
OB came out with 2.2.2, then update to 2.3.4 (GB) and now 4.0.4 (ICS). I fear that is more than a lot phones get, even if the step from ICS to JB is probably not so big. Well let's see what mods we get and after all CM10 is not so bad, OK a lot nightlys are but that might be why there not called stable (or at least RC).
