[Q] Google Books problem on CM7? - Captivate Themes and Apps

After flashing Cyanogenmod 7 to my Captivate, the Books app will not open books correctly. It opens them in this two column view where the second column shows half of what should be on the next page. If I go to the settings and then back out to the book, it fixes itself. Is anyone else having this problem and, if so, have you figured out how to fix it?

Shouldn't you be asking this question in the CM7 thread?

[Q] Tap Tap 4 on Nook Color?

I tried installing it on my Nook Color running phiremod v5.1, and it downloaded fine, but as soon as I start it up, it crashes. Always. Does anyone know how to fix it?
And I couldn't find any APKs of it since it's so new...
seems to be a general problem with the app, in the comments lots of ppl face the crash after start, not device related

[Q] search results in Market place with MN 4.5.6?

Does anyone else have an issue with searching for Apps in the Market place and not being able to see all the search results? For example, when I search for "nook color", it says it found 27 results. However, on my screen I only see 10 of them and I can't scroll down or anything. I'm running 1.2.0 with MN 4.5.6 rooted.
However, when I dual boot into CM7 from my sd card, I get all 27 returned back and scrolling works fine. Is this a known issue when using Market place when using 1.2.0 MN?
Did you follow all the instructions of the market visibility workaround in the OP of the manual nooter thread??

yup. At first the market place really has limited apps. So, I did the clear the cache/data fix and all the apps show now. The probably is within the search results.
Can someone else that followed the MN 4.5.6 search for "nook color" and see if you can scroll through all 27 results?
Im thinking there might be a setting somewhere that says only show the first 10 results when searching the market place?
Turn the nook sideways, as in landscape mode to see the whole list of apps.

Nook app in the market updated; supports magazines and newspapers!

Pretty much what it says in the thread title...I just did a Market update on my CM7 install and it showed an update for the Nook app to support magazines and newspapers. The only major functional difference between the stock reader and the market reader now is kids' read-to-me books. Nice update!!!
That's great, although it is lame that kids books aren't supported yet, even the *pad supports those!
Just updated, and couldn't get anything to work right! Just cleared the cache and rebooted to see it that helps
Great will update that's what was missing

Well allllright! Now I don't have to resort to annoying work arounds to read The Onion and Asimov's Science Fiction on the market Nook reader. It supports more magazines now too (for example, PC Gamer was "Nook Color" only, now it's "Nook Color" and "Nook for Android (Tablet)" which apparently means us...makes me curious how it's deciding what is a tablet and what isn't, if it makes a distinction...screen resolution I presume), so it's work a look for anyone who got some magazines on the Nook Color and can't read them now because they are on CM7 or something.
I think the interface is a bit better as well.
My books disappeared
I have a number of books loaded on my SD card( in the correct directory). After the update the books don't show up.
Any ideas?
edit: They showed up. Just had to wait a few minutes.

I'm not sure what to say, I didn't have any problems. Have you tried refreshing the the app? (that is, presing the refresh button up near the top of the screen underneath the search button within the app?)
I can't get the update to run on my nook color with 1.2 and manualnooker. There's an icon but when I tap it nothing happens no force close screens no error messages nothing. It's like the app isn't even installed.
I've got the same issue on my stock rooted original. Maybe it's not working because I haven't updated to the newest software version.
I also tried running it on my nexus, but my magazines will not show.

I'm running CM7, but why are you guys trying to get it to work? You can just use the slightly superior still stock Nook Color reader. I mean, you know, go for it...just curious.

Not everyone has stock (rooted or not) still intact? Never mind, I gotcha (Thought you were referring to the earlier posters rather than later)
On another note, going to the store (and for that matter, any top-bar or bottom bar menu items, like menu, go to library (if in store), info, search) takes a long time to register. It's not my screen, because I can swap in and out of other apps and hit those spots without any lag or problems. Menu is not working for me at all

Its not possible to run Nook app if you are running Stock... doesnt matter which version... at least i never got to run and always found ppl stating the same
some questions
Running cyanogenmod 7.02.
Is it possible to "read in store" when I am in B&N?
Using the nook app, do I have to load the books on the SD card? Can I put them into internal memory?
Thanks in advance
How to get if in Canada
Whats the best way for a Canadian to get this app since the Market restricts it.

I spoke to one of the Nook app devs about the near impossible task of pressing the buttons in the upper right corner, when they released the beta of this last week. He said they are working on fixing this.

Look up Market Enabler in Google Market. Tricks Google Market into thinking you're in the US.

Bummer about the small buttons on the top right of the app..
FYI, search will work in app if you use the CM7 Tablet tweek search button. It will call up the BN apps search dialogue box, provided you have the option toggled on to show the search button on the status bar.
Worked great, for my phone

That was a great solution and worked like a charm. I'm hoping to find the APK somewhere so I can load it on my Transformer.

Good, that's about my only real complaint about it right now.
Looks like they didn't fix sideloaded books showing their covers. The nook app is the ONLY reader app that doesn't show my sideloaded books covers. Every other one i tried they work fine. Annoying.
Just be careful what you touch.. I was looking at magazines and saw NatGeo and thought hey, look, maybe I can preview it. So I tapped "Current Edition". Nothing happened. Tapped it again and it confirmed purchase for $6 for a single edition.
I've emailed B&N telling them to remove this and credit my CC back and that they should fix their horrid user interface.
First off it should VISIBLY change when there's money to be paid. Button changes color or BETTER the button is in a different position, such as a pop-up window that says "Your credit card will be charged X dollars, purchase/cancel". Not the same button that apparently is so laggy it doesn't update in time for folks to not realize tapping it twice in a few seconds will purchase it.
Meh.

Android Market Music Problems

The new Music section has popped up for me and everything works great, except when I try to actually get a song. For instance when trying to get a Free song I tap the Free button and get taken to the Purchase screen just like for Apps and Movies but before the accept button appears I get a "failed to retrieve information from server" error and get bumped back to song info. Going to the Market site with a Desktop UA let's me go to the same Free song and get it so that limits the possibilities. I already tried wiping Market data. Anybody else with similar problems?

same issue
I am having the same issue on my Xoom. Followed the same procedure a couple of times. Looks like this is a pretty common issue whenever they do a new market release. Hopefully they get it working soon though, the free song of the day is sweet. Does anyone have an alternate work around?
Well it's working for me now, don't know why it's suddenly working.
For people who are still having problems just open the Market in a Web Browser and use that. If you get automatically pushed to the Market App when trying to go to http://market.android.com then go to "Settings-->Applications-->Manage Applications-->All-->Market-->Clear Defaults".

Problems with google search

When I try a search querie in the Google Search app for Android (I am on the lastest nighlty of Cyanogenmod 9). Google Search has the tendency to kick me out after just typing one letter, but when I just open the Google Search app and leave it, it remains at the screen. Also it does give suggestion after just searching with only one letter, like for example 'w' gives whatsapp etc. So is anyone else having this problem, and how did you solve it?
(It does work somethimes, but that has a smaller chance than it kicking me out. There also isn't any mentioning that the app has crashed. It just brings me back to the android home screen...)
