I have flashed a couple roms to my phone I take all the right steps flashing back to stock rom first and all. But any rom I flash after a day my phone starts vibrating and resets it self. Can some one help.
You need to post more info....what rom, what are you restoring after flashing, what are you doing when the problem occurs..
I was flashing cognition 2.3b6, even happens with regular froyo rom. When it resets I'm not doing anything. Just vibrates and resets.
Obviously something is causing your soft reboots.....this can be caused by many things but should not occur unless something is being modified such framework or you are restoring something from 2.1 that is not compatible with 2.2
After you flash to 2.2, what steps do you take, ie do you use titanium backup to restore apps and/or data? Are you applying any mods such as custom battery?
No I don't use nothing besides the rom. I even formatted my card.
Confused then....i have flashed many different roms including cog and have not had problems unless I do something that causes it
I would try a different rom....axura is great, the i9000 ports are nice as well.
Sorry I cannot help more
Before you flash, try wiping the dalvik cache. See if that helps.
Swyping...please read slowly!
don't know how to do that is that the same as the user catch.

after a factory reset all is fine, but after awhile itr happens again
i just dont want to do factory reset all the time and re install and phone nrs etc
anyone else with this problem?
my phone is un-rooted jpy 2.2.1
Make a complete wipe/factory reset and reflash the firmware.

Do you have any Lagfix enabled? Got start-up issues too after I enabled DATA_LOOP and BIND_DATA options. Just flash a Titanium Backup or disable this and make a factory reset after that.

i removed lagfix too on a previous time this all happened so i guess it hasnothing to do with that either
Make a clean phone format everything including internal sd and system .
Install Eclair and wait to see if problem solved .
Do not upgrade to 2.2.1
If the phone fails on Eclair then its hardware .

worth to send the phone off for repair then?

At least ask a Samsung Service centre .

I had a similar problem when i was with 2.2.1 JPX (without any lagfixs) + root, sometimes when the I restared the phone everything started to crash, and I had to do a factory reset to fix those FC..
I've done a complete format (internal SD..) and flashed 2.2 with speedmod kernel (no lagfix) + root, and so far so good, i've made a lot of restarts, and no problem..

Flashing a full rom with repartition is probably the fastest way
you can also go into recovery, disable lagfix, format /data /dbdata and /cache reboot, try to install something to see whether it works. If so celebrate by customizing your rom and creating a nandroid backup before enabling any lagfix again.
loops are a bit unstable btw.

And I gave no explanation, I'm sorry.
I think your file system on one of the data partitions is corrupt. That can happen and is not really ROM or kernel related. I'm not certain but if it is the case you can probably fix it by reflashing a full ROM (3 files) with repartition.
If you don't want to do that you can try to format the partitions manually and hope for the best.
something similar happened to me in December and I kept trying different things to fix it. I think, since you have a pretty void phone anyway, reflashing is the quickest solution with the highest probability of success.
Good luck
I have a Galaxy S which i rooted and installed a lagfix on. I think it was Ryans OCLF i used for the lagfix.
I want to update to the official Froyo available from T-mobile via kies but having lots of problems getting it to connect (as everyone does). I have backed up contacts etc. I havent bothered backing up apps as i just wrote down the settings i have in each one and will just reinstall them after the upgrade.
What im planning on doing was completely resetting the phone back to factory settings and wiping it altogether so i have a clean phone to do the upgrade.
The problems im expecting or want to know how to avoid is with the root and lagfix i have installed. Will doing a factory reset or other reset (hopefully somebody can tell me another way of resetting) get rid of the root and lagfix or do i need to do something manually before wiping the phone? I know of something about the lagfix creating partitions etc so would a factory reset cancel the lagfix or would it cause all sorts of problems?
How do i go about removing the lagfix and resetting to the standard software that came with the phone? Also i have apps that require root so if i unroot the phone will this cause problems when they try to start or will they just not work and not be an issue?
Im not running any custom roms just the original one that came on the phone.
Sorry for all the questions and a rather long first post but im hoping to do this soon as the phone is running like a bag of smelly brown stuff lol.
Disable the lagfix first and then wipe. Root will not go away but I dont think that would be problem.PS. If I would be you I would just use odin to upgrade, there is plenty of good guides including how to use odin
Undo lagfix before any firmware upgrade .Then factory reset then go to Kies .
Remove lagfix as per the instructions with whatever lagfix you used .
Unroot not a problem its only a user administrative rights fix giving you greater access .
Personally i undo anything i can before an upgrade .
jje
Yes i would definitely undo everything before upgrading its just a question of how i do it.
I used Ryans OneClickLagFix app that was on the market at the time but now it has been altered because it allowed you to root and google didnt like this. I still have the original version i downloaded on the phone so is it just a case of clicking on "remove lagfix" and that will sort it?
Also if the root remains on the phone after i have wiped it, will this cause any problems when i put froyo on it? Is there not a different method or file for rooting froyo to the one i have used on 2.1?
on "remove lagfix" and that will sort it?
Correct .
jje
Also click Remove Ext2 Tools, and the go into the Scheduler changer and return it to CFG and uncheck the tweak buttons, if you messed with any of that.
In which order should i do all of those?
Should i remove the ext2 tools and return cfg settings etc to default before i remove the lagfix or after?
So just a quick update.
Something went totally wrong the other night on its own. This is before i had even thought of upgrading that night. Was sitting on facebook happily playing away when it started force closing within a few seconds of opening. Tried to open the market to reinstall the facebook app and the market force closed in a few seconds. It did this with every app including the email and phone etc. Even the RyansOCLF would forceclose so i couldnt remove the lagfix or unroot etc. All my settings for apps and launcher pro settings had disappeared. Only a couple of icons i had set on the home screen of launcher pro remained but i couldnt use any of them. All my phone logs were there and so were my texts etc but everything else had reset. When i tried to reapply some of my settings and then restart the phone, when i had finished the restart the settings i had reapplyed had defaulted again. Disaster!!
The only thing i could do was run a factory reset from the options menu. I crossed my fingers hoping this wouldnt brick the phone and alas it worked perfectly. Sorted out kies and connected the phone and installed 2.2.1 android. The lagfix had been cleared by the factory reset. I keep wondering if this is why i had so many problems with it taking ages to start up before. Maybe because the lagfix never really worked properly it never fully rebuilt the file system so was removed easily? Although the benchmarks were coming up double the speed of the fastest device on the results so not too sure how it was performing so fast with a duff lagfix...who knows. Anyway got it all up and running and rooted and lagfixed using the voodoo fix. Stuck launcher pro on setup everything. Got the apps i previously purchased reinstalled and restored any apps i wanted from titanium backup. Works like a dream and alot better memory usage aswell.
Thanks for all the help guys but it seems although i didnt follow any of the instructions you all posted (not out of choice...just because the phone physically wouldnt let me) it seemed to get the upgrade done without any problems.

So i got a samsung galaxy ace, it's rooted and with b84 CF-Root kernel.
1) The thing is sometimes, I press Wi-Fi button or Bluetooth, and in the Wifi it says Error and on bluetooth just won't conect. I don't know what the problem is, and the only solution is to reboot the phone. Is this a problem? Can it be fixed? If It can, how? If not, please read point number 2.
2) If its not fixable, what ROM you advice me to reinstall? I have s5830XWKS2, some people say the DDxxx8(or something like that) is better don't know why I'm no programmer...
2.1) If I really have to have to reinstall it in order to fix it, how can I do it? Can you point out the thread for it?
3) I run a small business, and I use Tasker for all my stuff. together with other 60+ apps I need to keep, i'm using SD card with ext partition with Link2SD. And the thing i'm most afraid of, is loosing all the data. I came from a Nokia 5800XM, and I flashed it some times, backups are easy to do. Now here on Android becomes a bit complicated. Maybe never someone cleared me enough about it. So what can I do to sucessfully restore all data on the new ROM? I got Titanium backups, and CWM..Will that backup even my dictionary saved words?
4) Thanks, and please, again, make notice that I can't loose anything due to my business, but I can't work with phone needing to reboot at random times cause of wifi or bluetooh beeing bricked.
First of all. There is no such things as urgent situation here. You should remember that.
Second thing. You should post questions in Q&A sub-section. General is for sharing and discussions.
Third thing. There is a adb logcat thingie, which allows to understand a root of your problem more than 'Help me. Something doesn't work'
I remain this thread open but move to correct section.

Yes I experienced the same problem, could be software bugs problem so I think you can reinstall your software for the better.
I prefer cm mod7/8 for ace as it is much faster so you can try Google cyanogenmod for ace. They have all the tutorial you need.
As for your Apps, titanium backup will do fine. Its the best backup so far. Your dictionary words is the default system one? I recommend you smart keyboard pro as it has the function to backup all your words
So in short, backup your EVERYTHING with titanium backup, rmb your contacts too, and install cyannogen mod 7 or 8 whichever you prefer! Hope this helps!

There's no such thing as cyanogen mod 8...only unofficial cm 7.1 kang and official cm 7.2...
Nunopitbull, wifi & bluetooth problems that you experience are caused by the kernel, not the firmware or rom...so my suggestion is to use a kernel that is not based on cf root or use a stock kernel (the one that came with your phone)...just root your phone with the update zip method will do, and for cwm flash the zip for it...the newest version for sga is 5.0.2.6...there's no need to flash a custom kernel...
About cwm backups, it backups your whole system and data partition and also your boot.img (kernel related)...so yes, it is quite safe to say that your whole phone is backup-ed...but keep in mind that stock roms use .rfs format for the partitions...new custom roms use .ext4 format...so to flash a backup of a stock rom, first flash a fresh stock firmware with ODIN and the cooper.pit file...then re-root and re-flash cwm to restore your phone...
And fyi, link2sd uses a second partition right? The apps inside the second partition can be relinked if you reset the phone...as long as you don't format the second partition...but personally I suggest you to use DTa2sd or amarulzz script as it saves more internal space...check it out...
Hope that all the above helps...
So you're saying my problem of wi-fi/bluetooth is because of kernel? Can you help me by PM how to get it working again? I wanted a custom kernel don't remember already why, but I think was for the custom speeds of CPU, so I could have low ones..
Just want this bug to disapear of bluetooth and wifi!

So far I haven't seen a custom kernel for sga that works flawlessly...especially the ones with oc function...only stock kernels work with the least problems...since you want to underclock, just use the stock kernel and set it to the lowest value with an app like set cpu...it shall do you fine...

What are the other advntages with the CF Root kernel? I can't remmeber why I puted it, but I think they were another reason behind it...
Where I can get teh stock kernel? Or which one you advise?
Chill please...don't shoot questions in here...if you want quick answers, please search about it (e.g. go to the cf-root thread and read about the features, I don't memorise them, but I believe you want the overclock and a2sd features)...If you want direct answers, you will have to wait...

Try flashing a new kernel, this is NOT a rom issue, just a kernel issue.
