Hey, i'm having an issue with cyanogenmod 7 on my Nook Color. Switched from cupcake because I thought I'd have greater compatibility with apps. Since the change, programs that once worked (e.g. snesoid, beautifu widgets) won't book. Just get hung and ask me if I want to force close. I'm using the tablet tweaks and everything... is this just how it is, or did I mess up somewhere along the line? Thanks.
I can't speak for the specific apps or ROM ur using, but yeah this happens with the occasional app. Remember that u r using an unfinished product. It will get better as CM refines it. Android as a whole is a buggy system. Its never going to be as functional as something like iOS.
Did you wipe either Cache and/or Data partitions before flashing CM7? Wiping the Data partition will wipe all installed applications and settings, however, it will prevent any weird issues arising from incompatible settings across different ROMs and OS versions.
I don't know about snesoid, but my personal experience is that BW works very well in CM7.

Sounds like something's wrong. My Beautiful Widgets works great. I'd try reinstalling using these instructions:
I have similar problems with both Beautiful Widgets and the XDA app. When I log into the XDA app, it gives me a force close pop up. However, when I use the XDA app without logging in, I don't have any problems.
Which instructions are you referring to in that MASSIVE 100+ page post?
Thanks.

The first post on that page.. That's how I flashed CM7 (pretty standard method, really) and I have no problems with Beautiful Widgets. Haven't tested XDA app. To be honest, I have problems with XDA app on my Droid 1, CM7, so I never use it.
Thanks everyone! I installed following the instructions from wiki.cyanogenmod http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Barnes_&_Noble_Nook_Color:_Full_Update_Guide
I will give it another shot and report back when I do. Right now I've gone back to cupcake, but still having a problem with beautiful widgets- gets stuck on the "loading skins" screen, never loads.
p.s. I *did* wipe the cache and data partitions
"Cupcake"?? I think you mean "Eclair"?
Cupcake was many versions ago, before the Nook existed, and the Nook Color ships with Eclair...
So, I switched to cyanogen, but I couldn't get beautiful widgets or snesoid to run. Trying to revert to factory settings, but every time I try I get stuck on the word ANDROID in blue.
I've tried hard booting 8x, I've tried running the script to change the bootcount but this just gets me to clockworkmod. I try running the factory reset/data wipe option, but it clearly doesn't remove cyanogen. I've also tried sideloading a 1.1 version zip, all to no avail. Any suggestions? Would uninstalling clockworkmod help?
Are you sure you followed the 8-failed-boots method precisely? That really should have brought you back to stock, at least as far as I understand.
http://nookdevs.com/Flash_back_to_clean_stock_ROM
I really do think so. It brought me to clockwork recovery instead of the usual factory reset...
Well I'm out of my league (I haven't done this) but it seems there are still ways... You could check out http://www.androidtablets.net/forum...install-cwr-save-root-revert-stock-image.html or do some searches here.
Now I'm stuck on the N sign instead of android... Tried everything in the link here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914690 including the boot partition. No dice. The only way i can get it to boot is to reinstall cyanogen. Is there some trick to uninstalling cyanogen? Any other suggestions out there?
It seems like cyanogen just WON'T WIPE. Even when I format my data, it still loads, despite clockworkmod reporting that it has been formatted. Ideas please!
Check at androidtablets dot net
look for the link about restoring and removing clockwork from an SD card. I'd post the link but I can't yet.

Bummer. Yeah, that's the link. You might want to look in Nookdev too. They oulined a process that was similar, but they said you have to do the image restore AND unregister... though it's been a while since I've looked at it. It might be more helpful. Good luck in getting it back to stock.
This is unfortunate. I had been under the impression it was a LOT easier to get back to stock. (I still bet someone who knows will give you the right guidance.)
Oh well, I guess it's a good argument for using SD card booting exclusively -- I can't wait for a final CM7 SD Card ISO.

Ok so i've been looking around and trying to fix my nook that's stuck on the "n" boot loading screen and won't go pass that.. I recently used the autonook and just restarted the nook but it froze as soon as my first restart.. Now it won't even turn on it seems like. Anyway to fix this? I've read around but they're all a little confusing, i don't care if i go back to factory either.
I also did a factory reset but it seems like it still gets stuck on the "n" loading screen. I think that's what i did wrong as i probably messed up the loading files.
Do both resets. 8 failed boots ans power+n to boot.
If that doesnt work. download monster's rootpack and my restock to stock zip in dev and flash my restore to stock zip (or newer)..
Its all explained in dev forums.. take tike to read a bit..

Use the second link on Monster's thread. 1gb image. Then copy the zip file to the root of your SD. Then flash..

Cool, thanks! that helped and brought things back to normal.. I just rooted my NC now and it still has 1.0.1 and i have market and gmail but market won't download any apps.. Can't seem to figure out what's going on.
Edit: Nevermind it doesn't automatically download, i had to go in downloads for it to start. Thanks!! Guess it's not really like an android phone like i'm used to but i've figured it out!
I do have a question though. I'm not planning to flash any roms on this and keep it original, when i download apps from the market. where does it go and can i put it some place or is this only for people who flash?
Ahh i answered my own question. Once i restarted the device it was there under Extras. Thanks again!
Now it seems as if youtube app won't open or play videos on the website.

Use Titanium backup to clear user data .. should be fine .. several threads on this ...
Hi guys,
I have recently downloading the new Cyanogenmod for the Milestone, and although its a pretty good mod, I haven't been able to download things from google market. I have installed GAPPS when it was required, and I can navigate the market fine, it even picks up my bought purchases. However, when I click on download,it says that it is downloading but the bar doesn't move. I;ve reflashed and rebooted numerous times but that doesnt seem to have fixed the problem. I was wondering if any of you had experienced the same thing and if so, how could I fix it?
I have plenty of space on my phone and my SD card too so I can't see where the problem lies.
update, I have looked around a little, and it may be a problem that I cannot connect to googletalk server. Anyone know how to resolve this?
Also, switching from wireless to 3g to 2g doesn't seem to help either.
Having the same problem with my X10! Will show updates for my existing apps but when I click on them to update it just states that they are downloading and they never update! I have power cycles the phone, stopped the update, installed the Google market updates and tried again, still the same result!
I have a rooted X 10 with 2.1.
Anybody else having the same problem?
totally weird, but everything seems to be in working order now. I didn't do anything at all either.
I had to connect to flashtool and reload the os to get it working again!
Tried finding just the market .she file but wasn't sure which one was the one that was messed up! Didn't want to make it worse so just flashed the whole OS

I can't download from the Market and it's annoying when i want to download some apps in a big hurry. I see that i'm not the only one facing this problem, but may i ask for help here? what can i do to fix this problem? you have my thanks
Did you try flashing the OS again or reloading the CM6 ROM? Mine has been working fine since I flashed my OS again.

Wipe data, then flash the ROM. Google Apps you need to wipe both cache partition and dalvik cache AFTER flashing the ROM.

I used to have this problem after extendend periods without a wifi connection... it seemed like my purchases would only download on wifi, whereas free apps would d/l on cellular networks
I do have Market problems from time to time, being unable to download. I've try pretty much everything but nothing helped, except: waiting! If apps fail to download constantly, they'll do just fine the next day ...
It seems that the Market has internal problems that cause this. Also I have this behaviour once in a while: viewing "my apps" in the Market will sometimes (!) only show me the Google Apps (Maps, YouTube, etc.) and all the ones that I purchased but *no* free apps at all.
Same again: waiting some time will restore the original (and correct) list.

Hey guys,
I'm new at posting in the forums, so I apologize if I have put this in the wrong section. I read a lot of posts, but this is the first time i have posted a thread, ever. =P
Anyway, I have a Rooted White T-Mobile G1, I was running the somewhat recent build of Roalex's COS-DS ROM, and it started to get really sluggish and I was having a few other problems. (I love that ROM, and he has done a great job, I just felt like a change.) So I went to install Ginger Yoshi 1.4 after doing a nand backup, SD Wipe, and SuperWipe. Once i finished installing the ROM, I rebooted my phone and it started fine and everything. Then it asked me to choose which home I wanted... Which was confusing, considering it was a fresh wipe. I should only have 1 Home launcher on there. I realized that I have several apps from past times. (as in, a WHILE ago. I haven't had these apps for over a month easily...) I tried another wipe and install. Still to no avail... I did some searching and I couldn't find anything that could help me. Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to explain in some detail. Anyone have any Suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
--Doogle
I don't know this rom, but nowadays many roms have a backup functionality included and they are backing up the old (g)apps, flash the rom and re-install (some of) the old apps again.
"Some" because normally there is a list of apps to be backed up and re-installed. If your launcher is on that list and the rom has a different one pe-installed you then have two.
If you want to be sure to get a "clean" installation, use
Code:
fastboot erase system -w
Or flash ohsaka super wipe before flashing the rom.

Sorry, I should have specified, the "SuperWipe" that I mentioned above, is Ohsaka Super Wipe... I have flashed it many times, and reflashed the ROM many times as well... Still having the apps installed. The wierdest part of it all, is that they don't seem to be using my sd card space OR internal space, almost as if they are somehow from the EXT4 partition I have, and they never got erased... The odd thing is, is that I never figured out how to move stuff to EXT, so there shouldn't be anything on there...
My guess would be that these "old" apps were downloaded originally from the market. If you are registering the phone with the same account you were using before, the market will download and install all the apps again from the market.

Well the reason it couldn't be that, is that I actually don't have a data plan. I always skip sign in, and then enable WiFi. So the apps wouldn't be able to download until after I was signed in to my account. Yet, they are there right when I start :/
This is a very odd, occurance. Haha. Thanks you two for your responses though.

Been having problems with my widgets since flashing bk, though to be honest I don't think BK has caused it. Whenever I reboot all of my widgets show problem loading widget. Some other threads have said to check that your widgets aren't on your sd card, which mine aren't. They work alright if I delete them and add them again, but that gets to be a pest, especially when managing 4g.
I'm running Gv 1.3, bk 1.0, and I've got ice cream kangwich, all of which I adore and am really grateful for.
Anyone else encountered this/have suggestions? Tried reinstalling individual widgets, etc.
Thanks everyone

I was having this issue to, but I never really figured out what was causing it. I suspected it had something to do with my clearing the dalvik cache or some other weird crap I was doing. This sounds like a paradox, but after installing BK, I felt like my phone ran faster, but was more prone to getting "bogged down" after awhile, and startup times were painfully slow.
However, I just finished finished removing the supercharger included with GV1.3, and installed the latest version along with a few of the extra tweaks available, and all of these issues have gone away.
Sorry, I realize this isn't that helpful. But you could try doing the same thing...It's definitely worth it; I'm seeing a pretty significant increase in snappiness.

Why wouldn't you want to format from within Settings? I've done that before with no issues. Perhaps you're confusing this with not wanting to Factory Reset from within Settings? Because that you definitely don't want to do.
Or perhaps I'm crazy. But I've definitely formatted the internal (and external) sdcards from within the phone Settings. In fact, on one occasion I corrupted my external sdcard, and the only means of formatting that would make the phone recognize it again was formatting it within settings.

!!!! TRY AT YOUR OWN RISK !!!!
!! I post this because it worked for me, 2 of my friends and I did this myself personally with my own pc/software !!
### IMPORTANT NOTE ###
Doing this can BRICK your phone if you don't know or not familar with what I'm doing.
If you're new to this, don'tbother doing it yourself as BRICKING your phone risk would be much higher
------------------------------------------------
I have issues last month when I was using gingervolt 1.3
Issues are
random reboots
reboot when tapping return soft key
no bluetooth at all can't connect to anything
screen freeze
some broken apps/widgets that have to uninstall/reinstall a few times
So I got tired of it and backup all my apps/app data/contacts with " mybackup root " app and put it in my pc
------------------------------------------------
!! IMPORTANT NOTE !!
Before trying to replicate what I did make sure you are able to flash the v7 tot file with LGNST and the phone can reboot otherwise it'll be hard to recover you're phone.
I did this because LGNST works flawless for me everytime so if you had problems w LGNST
!! DON'T TRY THIS !!
------------------------------------------------
After I copied my backup files/data into my pc, i checked the debug mode to make sure it's ON before I booted into CWM
go to "" mount and storage ""
from there I wiped all my data to start clean which include
Wipe cache
Wipe data
Wipe system
Wipe sdcard
------------------------------------------------
!! IMPORTANT NOTE !!
as you wiped everything noted above your revolution
WILL NOT BOOT UP
ALL FILES IN SYSTEM/SD-CARD WILL BE WIPED CLEAN
YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR BACKUP FILES INCLUDING CWM RECOVERY FILES
that why it's very important to transfer all your backup files to your pc/mac and you can flash v7 tot with LGNST without any problems
------------------------------------------
After I completely clean my revo I plug it into my pc from CWM and run LGNST
LGNST recognized my phone as I expected then I started to flash the v7 tot file
Waited for about 15 minutes for it to complete the whole process
when LGNST reach about 80% it'll reboot you're phone
Make sure LGNST display COMPLETE before you unplug
Now I got a complete bone stock phone with v7 gingerbread I started the root--revotool kit--GV 1.3 again
I use the esteem root method to root my revo as it works for me flawlessly
I also use the original revotool kit since I don't have any issues with it
Then I transfer my backup files back to my phone and reinstalled it with myBackupRoot app
Doing all this work and taking the risk did payoff
It fixed all issues I had mention earlier and been running flawless ever since even after I flashed BK kernel
No reboot, no screen freeze, bluetooth connects with anything I have
As I mention above, not only did it work for me it also work for 2 other friends
Good luck

OK first thing, it's FC'ing on various apps. I decided to factory restore the unit by booting into Samsung's recovery and wiping the data and and clearing the cache.
This reset it but our principals gmail is still on the phone. It's the primary account. I can NOT get it to delete.
I found a thread here with a official Samsung flashing tool. This one:

It seems to have worked, it got the device back to EA24. However when I reboot, it's FC'ing even more and the principals gmail is still there.
Well, it now sees an update called: EB28
It downloads it then boots into recovery and nothing more happens. No option to update, flash etc.
Also now EVERY TIME I restart/reset this device its like it's been factory reset, all the apps I installed are GONE, my Wi-Fi is GONE, and it FC's like crazy.
Contracts done on this phone so Sprints not going to do anything. Help! I'd like to get Gingerbread on this.
Thanks!
Wow, no one has one of these or has any advice?
Some updates on things I've noticed.
Well, previous to my original post, I was STOCK, non-ROOTED. This morning I used Roddricks guides to flash to ROOT with CWM via Odin.
It seems to have worked OK, I have root and I'm on the stock ROOTED Gingerbread but I STILL had all the default Google accounts. I booted back into CWM and did a complete data wipe and installed CM7. That worked too however when I booted it immediately said NOOK had forced closed...? OK, well I ignored that and installed a couple .apk's I had on my memory card and changed my wallpaper. Then I rebooted into Recovery again and flashed the Google Apps. Upon rebooting I saw no google apps and my wallpaper and installed apps were GONE. I was back to stock CM like it was just installed.
Now keep in mind I had done a FULL wipe to everything in CWM prior to flashing CM7. I booted the device BACK to the download mode and used Odin to re-flash Roddricks stock ROOT and kernel.
Upon booting the phone I'm back to stock Gingerbread and guess what? The default Google account is BACK and so are the two pre-added wireless networks.
WHY IN THE HELL WON'T THIS THING WIPE and why does it keep resetting to just installed defaults when I reboot.
I see I am not the only person with this issue. Someone else made a thread just the other day saying their 7 inch Tab resets on reboot too.
Can someone give us some pointers? In my case I can install custom ROM's but I have to set everything back up EVERY TIME I reboot? Come on, that's not [email protected]#@[email protected]#$
Firstly, it sounds like you're not actually doing the right kind of wipe. You want factory reset / wipe. Either from recovery or within the stock firmware.
Once you successful do this, all downloaded apps and account settings will be gone.
Next up it seems you're not actually managing to install custom firmware. You'll need to specify more details about what you've done and read carefully what appears on screen and report on it if you want useful advice.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
I've done the factory reset from stock firmware, I've done the factory reset from CWM 4 and 5.
I've manually wiped from adb using rm -R and rm -rf for /dbdata /system /cache /data, all of which appear to be wiped and then doing an "ls" reports the directors are GONE.
Then I flashed stock GB stock rom, booted up and guess what? My default gmail and wirless networks were STILL there.
Adb'ed back after a root'ed kernel and manually went into the folders and deleted EACH file, then backed out and deleted the folders. Rinse, wash and repeat with the ROM and guess what? default Googles still there along with the Wireless.
Also one thing to note is that with every one of these wipes, boots, flashes etc, lets say I setup the Tab and install a couple apps, add my wireless, change my wallpaper etc, when I reboot, it's ALL gone. The Tab's back to default fresh like I just flashed.
Spent like an hour with Rodderik in the #gtab channel trying to figure this out.
Ok. I believe you.
I still can't rationalize what is happening there. One thing you can trust about computers is they do what they are told. However, sometimes it's hard to understand what you've told then to do.
Kies knows how to restore user state. It's also somewhat evil in terms of still running when you've quit it. Make sure Kies is not running.
