I'm trying to copy all the status bar images from the gingerbread statusbar to edit them to my liking. Most of them look good opening them in photoshop, but some look "pixelated" and isn't fully transparent where they should be etc. Impossible to work on I feel.
How come some look normal while other look like crap?
normal:

ugly/broken:
It's because the image has been indexed to make it smaller. If you open the indexed file with Paint.net then it will remove the indexing and if you save the file, then open it in photoshop, it will look like it should.
If the images you are working with are from open sourced apk files, then you can get them off github (or wherever the source for them is stored), but in the end, I find it takes less time to open, save, close, open in photoshop than it does to find the image on github.
Ahaaa! Thank you

I was able to very easily modify the Honeycream theme since it was merely a swapping of images. I wanted to do a similar modification to the CyanbreadX theme. The CyanbreadX com_android_systemui.xml doesn't call for the substitution of the Noticification Power Widget images however. I copied that part of the .xml from the Honeycream one and pasted it in.
No success however, would get FC's after I had applied the theme. All images were named properly. In case you can't tell, I'm a newbie f-stick.
So I would like to know how to edit the CyanbreadX .xml to insert the images I would like. If someone has an already modded CyanbreadX .xml all the better, I can compare it to the original, and both of my failed attempts.
To make myself feel better, here was my success with the uber easy mod to the Honeycream theme (notif. power widget images and background-removed the Bee):

1) Whenever I try to edit a folder png using this apk tool I downloaded;
-Place the apk in a folder, run the script.bat, unzip it, edit the image I want, zip it back up, etc etc, it always fails to sign properly. Obviously I'm doing something wrong, but every tutorial I find, it seems I'm doing it step by step.
2) Is there a way I can edit the launcher to use bubble notifications on the icons, with other apps? Such as Kik, WhatsApp or Gmail? The notification add-on doesn't work at all with FB or Gmail. Is there a manifest or something I can go into to make it alert for those apps?
Thanks!

If I helped you hit the thanks button
what you could do is edit the glow dot icon as a blank png, in the framework-res\res\drawable-xhdpi folder
what i want to have is my lockscreen handle always visible, even after pressing it.
i tried changing some of the true/false values in this
framework-res\res\drawable\ic_lockscreen_handle.xml
but no good. i know absolutely nothing about coding.
Hi, this is the jb/ics statusbar assets for MDPI, you can use an archiving program to do this (e.g WinRAR, 7-Zip, etc.), or simply just decompile. It will also possible to replace on your phone (a bit risky), but extracting the apk file with a file manager like FX by NextApp, then extract.
Where to extract???
To the drawrable-mdpi folder

Me, for archiving, and resizing
No|Name (creator of a cm port, not on xda, please tell me if this is you, when I opened the rom that was what it said it was by No|Name ) for the SystemUI.apk.
You might have to rename some files, and some are unnessecary for your device, like status bar background.(9).png

Over the few days, I've been working on Icon Pack Tools, a utility for Android icon pack creators to generate key assets and resources, and alleviate much of the manual work. Made a bunch of new icons and need to update your drawable.xml and icon-pack.xml files? Just drag and drop. Keeping track of your app filters in three places at once? No longer. Just create your appfilter.xml, and we'll generate appmap.xml and theme_resources.xml for you.
Looking for feedback and feature requests!
Can't post links since I'm new here, but find it at github dot com /rektdeckard/iconpacktools
