So I had an old cyanogen mod flashed on my phone and nothing was going wrong. I think I flashed it in late November 2010, early December 2010. So I was fine with that and then I got bored. So I flashed the Dilli ROM and the market stopped working so I flashed to Serendipity and that's where the real problem started. Every time I would get a call, I would lose service automatically and the call would fail. I just thought it was a problem with the way I flashed it. So I then flashed the Phoenix ROM hoping that would fix the dialer problem but it didn't. I am currently on the newest phoenix ROM and I can download apps from the market, send and receive texts, make calls and even use the internet. The only thing I can't do is receive calls. I know when a call is coming because the phone starts to ring but before it shows me who is calling, it automatically loses service and fails the call. Has anyone else ever had this problem? Is there anything I can do? Any information would really help. Thank you!!

The fact that you flashed multiple roms without knowing how to flash back to stock is idiotic. Flashing back to stock is the one thing you should know how to do because it can save your phone.
Read this ENTIRE guide and follow it step by step or you will continue to run into the problems you are having. These anomalies cant be diagnosed by us because your phone probably has files from numerous roms on it by now. Flashing back to stock and using a master clear allows you to diagnose issues much easier.

That's most likely the modem. Find out what modem CM7 uses and as long as it's the same base as you're using now (i9000/i897), find the CWM for that modem and flash it.

You call that a slam? Tearing him apart? You must be a liberal. The ROM-specific stickies are here for a reason. All these posts outside the stickies just make sharing that knowledge you speak of harder. Why is it so hard to comprehend that if there's a sticky with a dedicated subject that maybe that's where any posts on that subject should go? XDA is also about rules and they exist for the benefit of all.
Please use a search before opening a new thread or post rom questions in the provided Q&A rom thread.

Try searching before posting. This is nothing new, just AT$T trying to reach customers who don't hang out in forums like this. This is the same update that was released on 2/24. If you are currently on a custome ROM, you would have to flash back to stock using Odin. beware, if you update to OEM Froyo you will not be able to root or install CWM with the new 3e recovery. I'd suggest you do some reading up on the issues and benefits of stock Froyo before you make up your mind to upgrade.
Thank you for your help, But if I'm not going to be able to root it back then I wont update. Unfortunately I'm not very experienced and I'm afraid of bricking my phone so flashing roms kinda scares me. I'd love to be brave and do all that kind of things. Oh sorry I tried to search but my app kept force closing.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA Premium App
There is a way to root the stock Froyo, but the old methods either don't work or need to be adjusted. I'd wait until I was at a PC so I could do some searches and read up on the issues. Froyo is definitely better than Eclair and a worthwhile upgrade, but still somewhat lacking compared to what the devs here are cooking up.

Flashing a modem won't brick your cappy. Also, every modem works differently on every phone and perfomance depends alot of your location.
Feel free to try them out - Just make sure you know what you're doing

no, he doesn't understand, please ignore him.
the JVB rar should have a PDA, MODEM, and CSC tar.md5 files inside which are to be used with ODIN. you *should* be able to flash it and be fine, but I wouldn't recommend it as there's always a potential for bricking with ODIN. add to that, you should flash the new bootloaders to avoid graphical glitches, they'll affect your button recovery for download mode (which could lead to more potential danger).
basically, anytime you use ODIN will *never* be safe, but you *should* be able to do it.
Wow,a different bootloader? What should I use? Also which files do I flash to get the whole thing? The whole zip or just the zimage? Sorry for the 4 questions at once but I guess there's more to it than I thought lol

It would seem that there has only been one update since the ROM installed. Not sure I can tell if there are any useful updates in the newer ROM.
There are so many ROMs out there. How is anyone supposed to figure out which one is the best one?

You got already answers in your first thread four days ago related to the same question.
Why don't you follow the hints and given links to tutorial there?
And in April the same before.
And then one year ago in April 2012 again. And of course you made two threads even then.
Having fun with this method?

It's not a big brother, I'm right now trying to get slim again.
I got used to look into older postings of a member when he asks a question. Sometimes you'll get the necessary details from his older posts.
Example: why searching for a mistake in a Rom when someone whines about freezes when a post before he wrote that he OC'ed his Kernel to 1600?
But in this case I acted like a BB after seeing the repeated orgy: it was even fun to answer him with his own history.
By the way: he got the Dr. Ketan link already in 2012...
Clearly I'm asking these questions again because I didn't have any success rooting the 1st time round.
As for orgies?!? Maybe opening the door and breathing some air would help remind you there's a big world outside with lots going on.
I was looking for some help delivered to me in a beginner's language I understand, not grandiose frustration that I had the idiocy to ask the same questions

Since April 2012 members gave you the links to the tutorials all members used here. Most of them were beginners.
And if you didn't understand it after one year of trying you should consider not trying to root your device at all.
You might end in a bricked one.
For the record, I haven't been trying for a year, I tried twice.......(once managed to root but had problems afterwards, once, stopped trying as it became frustrating)
Maybe you should stop acting out your insecurities about yourself in a faceless blog and find peace with who you are

Look, in order to beeing able to help you it would be nice to tell us what rom you have got on your Note.
Starting with ICS (4.0.4) rooting is very simple. Just take a look in the settings what rom you have got and then head over to the PhilZ kernel thread in Original development. There you will find rooted kernels for all stock (Original) ICS or above roms. Dowmload the one matching your rom (choose the .zip version, not .tar). Then boot into stock recovery (press volume up, home and power buttons simultaneously) and flash the kernel. Bang, you got root. Not really difficult. What the hell have you been doing? I guess until today you have not really bothered reading the tutorials and threads. Because everything is explained there and all of us had start too by reading a lot. Good luck.

Sorry, but there seems to be a new post every other day about people borking their Sprint phones because they flash a Rom from the "HTC One" forum.
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:
-------------------------------------
ROMS from the international forums WILL mess up your phone and you will be lucky to fix it after that! I get you want the shiny new 4.2.2 but those ROMS will not --I repeat-- WILL NOT WORK ON THE SPRINT HTC ONE.
Sure, they used to, but once they moved onto 4.2.2 they will not flash.
I feel this should be sticky in every thread on the Sprint HTC One forum.

And by a direct link, I mean an HTC URL?

From what I've seen all the major ROM's say in some fashion or another that it won't work for Sprint so it's mostly people just not reading. Maybe they could make the font about it possibly destroying phones if you are on Sprint bigger...and flashing...surrounded by naked women. Then maybe people will see it.
Unless your a Dev or know what your doing I wouldn't flash non sprint things... I know the partition labels and boot.IMG stuff so I have gotten things to work but not for a noobie
