I wanna buy a phone, but now am wandering between incredible s and desire S.
Need advice, which one do you guys think is better?
Both phones are the same except the Incredible S has a bigger screen and a better rear camera. (Higher MP) The Desire S has Gingerbread where as the Incredible S has Froyo and want see Gingerbread for another month or two. I say go with the Incredible S since it has the bigger screen and better rear camera. The only reason to get the Desire S would be if you want Gingerbread now and you like the design of the Desire S over the Incredible S.
Also desire s is cheaper in price

yea, I know the screen In S is a little bit larger, but what i am concern is the building quality and the network. Some guy said the ins' network is not stable, sometimes even can not access to the net by using the edge. I have no idea about it, is it just his phone?

Sounds like it's either his phone or a network problem. There haven't been any network stability issues widely reported and mine is certainly working very well. The build quality also seems good, it feels very solid.
If there were network issues these would probably show up in the Desire S too, since I imagine the wireless chipsets will be very similar if not identical.

How do these two phones compare to the Nexus S? Does it come down to a question of Adreno 205 vs SGX540?

Don't they both have the same size battery? If so, the Desire S is going to run a little longer between charges due to the smaller screen.
Colgate - I personally prefer the HTC keyboard to the Nexus S keyboard. You should try both to see which you prefer.

Hey guys,
I'm currently choosing either the sensation or the inc. s as my next phone.
opinions?
- i heard sensation is a little laggy/buggy and that is has wifi issues. (i use wifi ALOT)
- also heard the sensation's screen is a bit more "washed out"
- sensation is more future proof, and has a better design overall. (imo)
- i prefer the 4" screen of the incredible, but not the back design. (maybe i'll get used to it though!)
- audio quality is important (through headphones)
thanks for the help
sensation and incredible s is both being offered at the same $0 on a 3 year so price difference is not an issue.
i'm also not interested in rooting/modding
I think the Incredible is enough, if you prefer the larger screen (4.3"), should be choice Sensation. Because the dual chip of sensation is less quality compare with Galaxy S2...
If both cost the same and its a 3 year contract, go for sensation. Sent future proof with the dual core.

personally go for Incredible S
commercially go for sensation .
its the choice you make .......
Is go for the sensation myself.

Pick your pros and cons
Mine:
Sensation
pros: - Dual core (It'll last awhile but honestly.. i dont think any phone will last a while at the rate they're currently coming out!)
- Since you don't like to root.. you'd get sense 3.0 instead of what's currently on the incredible and I'd assume that you'd get more updates on the sensation
I wish I could help you more but I've honestly never had or even played with the sensation yet.. (I've only had the incredible S and would LOVE the sensation)
Incredible S
pros: - 4" Screen (I love 4" I don't like any bigger)
The cost (It's cheaper here in Canada (~250-300), as opposed to sensation (~$500)
- I like the back! Phone will also last a while!
Yeah.. I don't have too much reasons, I don't even have both the phones anymore (Just sold off my incredible S for the Motorola atrix and DAMN I REGRET IT motoblur is absolutely terrible.. I've rooted it but I still hate the UI and everything. I have to really focus the 5MP camera on the atrix to get a good solid picture, the incredible s takes pretty solid pictures without trying to focus!)
If I were you.. I'd go for the sensation
a) It's worth more
b) It's better in most ways
c) thats it sorry!
Well I have been in this Chaos for the last one month and thats the reason I didnt buy any ..lol..
HTC Incredible S compared to Sensation:
1) Compact perfect size
2) Very good battery life
3) Expensive for its specs. I mean only abt 100$ price difference from Sensation.
4) Laggy on some HD games like I played Avatar on it and it laggy.. not smooth
HTC Sensation:
1) official full sense 3.0
2) Dual core (future Proof)
3) Touch screen issues
4) Worst battery life. (poorer than DHD)
5) Massive size
The main reason I dont like Incredible S is because its not future proof and I had the HTC Desire and its not very fast comapred to that. Just slightly better
The Reason I dont like Sensation is coz it has worst battery life and not as fast as other Dual core phones.

Lack of Sense, Lack of Good build..
Same agenda... Grunt...
I'd go sensation, or if you're able to wait a little longer, hang on till the next device is released whether that be the holiday, bliss or kingdom
Swyped from HTC Desire S using XDA Premium
For the same price I would choose Sensation, without hesitation.
Incredible S : CM7
I almost went for a sensation but 2 things stopped me:
Screen problems - widely reported all over the net, check out the 106+ page thread in the Sensation forum IIRC, still no effective solution to solve it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1129272
Price (UK) - Currently, for a limited time - Carphonewarehouse are selling the Inredible S for 270ish which is imo a great deal (hence i bought it).
If you can wait, wait otherwise imho - you can't go wrong with IS
thanks for the replies everyone
leaning towards the incredible s after hearing about several issues withthe sensation as well as the smaller 4" screen. i hope sense 3.0 (minus the 3d animations) come to inc s though

Hi, im looking to upgrade my hd2 I've been thinking on the sensation but it is rather expensive and the only differences are processer speed, gpu and screen res. Now im wondering how well would this phone cope with future updates is it going to be left behind like the HTC desire. How good is the CPU /gpu and can it run intense graphic games well?
Sent from my HTC HD2 using xda premium
If you need processing power for ... Idk what you need more than a single core 1ghz for, go for it. If you game, go for it. If you do heavy heavy multitasking, go for it.
The screen on the inc s is better, though it has lower res.
I've had the o2x and atrix and haven't noticed any speed issues.
Dual core doesn't show until you need it to. If you don't need it, save the money and get this. It's still great. People live without phone upgrades for years, I think you'll be fine.
From previous experience, if your debating its probably a sign that dual core is too much power haha

It is an awesome phone imo....
I got a great trade on this (x10 for this lol), and don't really feel the need for a dual core phone.
If you are getting this on contract I would say to go for the sgs2, but if you're just purchasing a new phone, for the price I think this is the best single core phone you can get right now.
The screen is amazing, the ui extremely smooth and responsive, good battery life, etc....
Also had a lg O2X. Like the HTC incredible S much more. A better phone in all aspects besides the build quality. Had an HTC desire hd also and the screen size is to big for me.
Dual core is just a nice to have and updates can always be replaced by custom roms.
So unless you definitely want the newest hardware I would say the incredible S is the best price quality out now..

I just bought my IS in the CPW sale for £269, I traded in my Desire which originally cost me £400 just over a year ago, so I actually parted with an extra £143. You loose a lot of money on 1 year old phones.
Sure, I would have liked either a HTC Sensation or perhaps a Samsung Galaxy S II, but owning the latest/fastest gadget is an expensive pastime.
I decided on the IS because it has bags of app space, extra ram, a nice sized screen and good build quality.
However, I'm actually on my 2nd IS within 3 days, my O2 phone signal appears to fluctuate quite badly and sometimes vanishes completely, not good! A phone exchange was my first option but that doesn't appear to have helped, so now I'm waiting for my new sim card to activate to see if that cures the problem.

ive never owned a 4.3" device but i would definitely say from playing with both in the shop that the extra bulk of a 4.3" phone is WAY more noticeable than the actual increase in screen size.

4. Worried abt developer support, would it really get the love from developers
i am still debating between this and Sensation ,, i can get sensation which has almost similar specs with good look and gyro sensor plus it's only 99$ in best buy but drawback is it is tmobile..
can some1 who own this device convince me

I moved from the SGS2 to the Vivid yesterday. I am happy with my choice.
1. Speed isn't everything to me, so 1.2GHZ or Exnyos VS Snappy does matter to me.
2. I don't have any lag on this phone but never really any on most of my Android phones.
3. My speeds for data are much faster on the Vivid then SGS2. I am pulling 5-12MB down and 1-2MB up.
4. I like the increased Screen resolution on the Vivid vs SGS2
Now as far as the Sensation vs Vivid, most is the same except the following.
1. LTE
2. 1.3MP front Camera vs VGA on Sensation
3. Slightly larger battery in the Vivid
4. Vivid is Super LCD qHD
5. Vivid has 1GB Ram vs 768
6. Vivid has 16GB internal vs 8GB internal and 4GB memory Card
to me the Vivid is the better option.
I think that for you it will be better to buy HTC amaze 4g.

dude...this thread is almost 4 months old, probably already made the purchase.
I bought my Vivid on 13 Feb, and i couldn't be happier. Dumped my iPhone4 due to lack of customizations. I really got tired of jail breaking. Right out of the box, this Vivid is like a jailbroken iPhone on steroids. With just a few free apps from the market, this phone rocks, and without rooting.
I am satisfied with my HTC Vivid, great phone great design, love this phone.

Just for those who might feel disappointed by the claims above which state that there is no Gyroscope in HTC Vivid. HTC Vivid is one of the few android handsets that has the gyroscope. It remains mysterious how the author of the thread managed to get misinformed about this.
So i have the AT&T Galaxy S II right now. I want an LTE phone with a 4.5"+ screen...
the Vivid looks pretty nice.
Questions:
-Is the Vivid's bootloader locked or unlocked?
-Is Vivid going to get CM9 officially?
-Is the build quality good? Better than the Galaxy S II?
-Is the battery life as good as the GSII's?
-Is it worth going with the Vivid now, or should I wait for the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket HD or the Sony Xperia Ion?
Thanks for the help!
Bootloader is unlockable via HTC dev site
I have owned the sgs2 aswell and the vivid is far more heavy but I feel like it is crafted better, however more breakable screen wise.
HTC has stated that the device will get ics first quarter 2012. So as long as we have willing devs we can get cm9, there are already a few working on it unofficially

Tbh anything over 4.3 just seems too much and SE has failed so hard in recent years I have a hard time believing they are gonna hit one out of the park.
The SGS2 was great for dev, now that the vivid is bootloader unlockable were gonna see some movement here. It's getting exciting.

I'd wait for the Ion.
Came from the skyrocket and I do not regret it at all. Vivid feels like a phone. Skyrocket feels like a toy. Vivid screen is better. Skyrocket is good also. Vivid battery is great for me on a Rom I'm working on. Skyrocket was only good on cm7 . Table will turn once we get cm7 or cm9. I'll have to give the Vivid the belt between the two.

Coming from the SGS (the first one), I bought the SGSII only to return it for the Raider after two days. I never liked touchwiz (I used ADW launcher) it's to simple and not very friendly. The widgets suck and the UI is to iPhone, with its big color full icons that take way to much room. The lock screen sucks even on the SGSII, if you enable pin/password etc you loose the ability of notification on the lock screen and no notification led (unless you use bln and backlight keys), this was enough to push me away. I like the ability to see text, change tracks, see the weather all without unlocking the phone and still have it locked with a pattern. Yes i tried Widget locker and al though it worke it involved to many widgets and apps just to get what the Raider already has.
These are the few things i disliked about Samsung and they are still an issue with the SGSII, all in all the Raider in my opinion is the far superior phone despite what reviewers say, if Samsung made the touchwiz better and not stip everything that is android i would have sticked with the SGS.
I had the Captivate before this Vivid so i personally am blown away haha. I have two co-workers who have the skyrocket and they want my white vivid. I personally love both phones but i recommend the vivid especially if you are planning to do any rooting. As of now i get about 2 days battery life using RumRaider beta11 with fairly heavy use considering i sell phones. Like everyone has said the vivid is heavy and you can feel it but i have noticed i drop light phones more because its hard to feel when they are slipping. the vivid of course doesnt have the amazing samsung screen though which is to me the only downside. Im running 47mbps on my vivids LTE which so far none of my coworkers have got on there Skyrocket. HTC also i believe is a far better company. its all personal preference though when it comes down to it. Either way i don't think you will be disappointed.

I however can tell a difference. I've had my Vivid since I picked up mine and my wife's white Vivids from Frye's in Atlanta during their 80 dollar sale this past Sunday. Coming from the 800x480 resolution display of the Inspire, this is more, well, Vivid. To me, there is a BIG difference between the displays in the resolution department. Yes, the Samsungs have vibrant displays from the SuperAMOLED+. However, the resolution is only 800x480. The Vivid, on the other hand, has an equally beautiful qHD display. The resolution on these badboys is a healthy 960x540. The winner of best display, for me, is the 960x540 qHD display of the Vivid.

which one is better?
for the prices:
xperia arc s is the cheapest one then desire hd then incredible s
This is the same decision I had to make this time last year
The reason I went for the Incredible S over the DHD and the Arc (the S wasn't out) was because of its specs.
I knew I would root it one day and be running AOSP
The HTC's have more RAM because it is needed by sense, so I figured they would run AOSP roms better than the Arc
The Arc feels cheap to me
The incredible S has a front camera, which I use sometimes, and the others dont have it
I like having the option of sense as well, it just makes the phone feel a lot different compared to other android phones
So the arc was ruled out for me. With the Arc S, its clock speed can easily be matched anyway with a custom kernel
I ended up choosing the Incredible S over the DHD because it has better battery life, and IMO a better screen.
But, looking at them now specs wise, they are outdated and seemingly low end devices anyway
If I were to get a new phone now, I would at least go dual core. But, that said, I am happy still with the Incredible S, and I am glad I am here. Gotta love the sense of community we have here
arc s looks better, but HTC sense is much better than Sony's ui

The Xperia should only be considered if you're looking for a very slim, stylish phone- other than that. although it is slightly faster than both, the only area it excels over the other 2 is the video mode is continuous AF.
the DHD is one pretty phone, and is unibody aluminium, making it quite a heavy phone its also curved slightly, meaning it doesn't sit fresh on a flat surface. icons and text are also a lot clearer on this phone by virtue of screen real estate, but it can look like someone has activated "disability mode" on the phone. out of the 3 it is the fastest by a nose too.
The Incredible S is the only one of the 3 to have the front facing camera. its also the "smartest" design wise- perfect fit in the hand, nice feeling back. the only issue i have with it is the slightly raised metal "ring" around the phone. I dropped mine one time and it has this weird dual-hing on the corners which can be bent out of their normal position(with great force of course), this can caused issues with putting the back on. it is let down by its wierd video recording and slightly slower AF than the others.
If I were having to pick, I would probably go with option 4 or 5- the Galaxy Nexus or the Nokia N9. These should be around the same costing nowadays. the Nexus gives the best stock ICS experience for the price, and the N9 is just one beautiful piece of kit and the software-meego- although not supported is excellent.
hope this helps
The ARC S cracks the cases. I searched for it when I bought the Inc S.The Desire HD has the same specs but a bigger screen with the same resolution.
For me the IncS is the best, a 4.0in non brick phone, good construction, good stock roms (I hate sony UI,sense is very very complete).
In my opinion the only phone that I would think of changing the IncS in the same league is the Desire S because of it size, but I heard it has some problems with motherboards.
As i was buying my phone I had a thought about these three phones too. I decided on the IncS due to its slightly smaller screen size of the HD, due to battery saving.
The Sony was more common but all of them seemed to have cracks on the case just above the screens.
I liked that the IncS also had a front facing camera.
Another option for me was the Huawei Honor but that wasn't cheap enough. The LG 2X might be another good bet or the Desire S, slightly smaller but its battery life is meant to be good.
thank GOD you weren't swayed by the 2x- apparrantly the most unoptimiesed pos version of Android ever put on a phone.

The LG 2X is a cancer, when I bought the IncS (for 250eur, used with almost 2year warranty,a spare original battery, a CaseMatte Cover,8Gb Class 6 card) the LG 2X could be find used for the same price.
Most people who got it had to send to warranty lots of time to fix problems, a new phone came and the problems persisted...
For me the IncS/Desire S are the wisest options. You have the Xperia U, wich in my country can be bought for 190eur vodafone locked. The only drawback is that it doesn't have microsd slot.
which one should i buy... incredible s or desire hd
hello sir. I am new here just registered to post this reply.
I am going to buy an htc cellphone. I have searched upon net and had finally come across two choice... either htc desire hd or htc incredible s. i only have time to decide between these two for a week coz after that shipment will arrive.
as per gsmarena.com both devices have got same hardware except different display sizes, display technology and a front facing camera.
bt i have watched several youtube videos showing that incredibles s has a very bad camera output (video especially) as compared to desire hd... so i wanted to cnfirm that whether the camera quality is same for bth desire hd and incredible s.... if it is so m going to buy incredible s... otherwise desire hd on the go.
thanks in advance. P.S i need a quick reply.

When are these reviews from? The sense 2.1 camera that the phone was released with, which is probably in most of the reviews, is average.
Camera quality is much improved with the later versions of sense. The sense 4 camera is full of features and is quite good
But put bluntly, they're both alright in daylight but crap in low light.
Quality is the same imo
There is a thread in general, you can google it called something like " photos taken with your incredible s"
Showcasing our best photography
Video is the same, depending on the rom you use
For me 720p capture has quite a low framerate but 480p is fine.
