Hi
I got a HD7 a few days ago and have only just got around to looking at it today. Anyway, I plugged it in, installed all the zune software and was told there was an update available for the phone. So I attempted updating it, however it has now got to step 8 and the progress bar hasnt moved for about 10minutes, since it reached near to 50%.
What should I do? Will I brick the phone if I turn it off and then unplug it?
Just let it go. If it's the actual NoDo update, they state it can take up to 30 mins.
Ha scrap that no worries, it has just finshed now. I was scared as it was probably more like 25-30 minutes, as I forgot I started it before having a shower
Thanks for the reply though

Well, it was working yesterday and then this morning - nothing.
It doesn't turn on or anything, I've got two batteries - original one and a 1800mhz one. I use the 1800mhz one. I left the phone to charge overnight under my pillow(as I do everynight) but woke up this morning to find that it was completely dead. I haven't done any ROM updates in about 6 months, so can't see if it's anything to do with software. Only thing I can say is strange is the fact that when I plugged the phone in to charge two days ago it came up askin me if I wanted it to be with Active Sync or a Storage drive. I have it set so it goes with the Active Sync and not to ask me again.
But I've done what all the other people with the same problem as me have done and removed battery and sim card and just use the wall charge/USB for about 20-30 minutes, but it still doesn't turn on.
I've tried all the hard resets and soft resets, obviously that won't work.
Any solutions? I've just received an email from HTC sayin that it needs a repair.. but wanted to see if there's anything else I can do before I send it away.

I guess you noticed that while charging the phone gets quite hot. So why are you keeping it under a pillow so the heat can't spread?
I think that HTC is right and and the device needs some hardware repair.

Well I've done that since day one and it makes no sense that it randomly just died this one night.

Because you are slowly frying your CPU?
Hi Everyone,
I'm a newbie and I had this happen for the first time today.
Here's my story: I purchased my NC during the Ebay $50 off sale. It had version 1.1 software. I Nootered it a couple of weeks after I got it using Autonooter 3.0 and all was well. I routinely ran the battery to as low as 10% with no problems whatsoever.
When the 1.2 update came out I turned off my wi-fi so it wouldn't auto-update. After a couple of weeks, I decided to flash it back to 1.1 and manually update it to 1.2 with the info I found here at xda. Everything went fine. My NC hasn't been charged for about a week and, before reading a magazine for about an hour last nigh, I checked the battery level and it was 68% (I don't use it everyday). This afternoon I was reading the same magazine for about 30 minutes and all of a sudden it just went black and would not "wake up" or boot up. I remember seeing something about this on xda and read the thread but that seems to be some kind of issue with CM7, which I don't run.
Is this an issue with the 1.2 software (as was mentioned in the other thread) or could this be related to my previous Autonootering and flashing back to stock? Since I'm on stock 1.2 and not nootered now, is there a "fix" for me?
I was just about to make a bootable sd card and now I've got THIS issue to deal with!
Please Help!
Plug it into the usb port on your computer and it should boot up.
Thanks Kayak! I was able to get it to reboot by plugging it in when I got home but what I really want to know is if there is a "fix" so it won't die when the battery gets down to 30%.
My fault, In trying to explain everything I neglected to ask the question I really wanted the answer to.

It obviously shouldn't "die" at 30% battery. Sometimes power cycle/fresh reboot will fix it. Your nook might have misread the battery level or maybe it just had an error, I don't know. But if it happens again I would consider rooting it just to get a fresh install of 1.2 Plus, rooted 1.2 stock is pretty sweet with not a lot of effort at all. Mine occasionally gets stuck in what seems to be an "off" state, but it rarely happens. When it does, I just hold down the power button and it reboots. I've never had to plug it into my laptop to get it to start up again.
Hello XDA,
I could not find a similar problem so I created a new thread.
Last night I was finally able to update my Galaxy Note GT-N7000 VIA Kies from 2.3.6 to 4.0.0 on my Macbook Pro. Exciting!
Then it happened, Kies suggested that I update the firmware on my device. I did, the download froze, Kies froze, the joy was gone.
I tried countless times to reconnect my device and start over but the Note would not connect VIA Kies. It just said connecting over and over. After spending much time I gave up and went to bed having put my phone on charge.
3 hours after I woke up my phone was fully charged. (STILL) Then it was not, now my phone is constantly going from charge (when its not even plugged in) to not charged. Dead, then fully powered. It continues to spam me the whole time with my batteries current state.
Its an international model in the US so theres no support.
How can I fix it? Hard Reset? Throw to the wall? Paperweight? Or XDA Magic?
I take it you are still on GB. In that case, try a factory reset.
Thanks for the reply!
I tried it 3 times so far since this has happened. As soon as I start using my phone it bugs out. Keeps opening Voice Search and then exiting, completely annoying me in the middle of doing things. Then it will turn itself on when I have switched it off. Then beeps at me while its sittin on charge.
I dont know what the hell its doing. I have seen that other people have suffered similarly but they are experiencing problems with buttons not working and they flash. I dont want to flash my device because when I go back to Iraq I wont have internet all the time to just play with manual updates etcetera...
Just received my OTA upgrade.
Everything went well up to the point were it says - Android is starting. It counts up to 51 and then says Starting Applications and then immediately (shown for half a second) - Shutting Down.
This goes on and on every time I restart the watch.
In addition, it gets so hot that I think it will melt.
Any ideas how to fix that?

I'm experiencing the same issue. I hope that someone has some ideas on how to fix it.
Let it rest for an hour. Then try again. Works for me.
Sent from my A0001 using XDA Free mobile app
As above. I think it's heat related. I had similar when I was flashing the stock images from scratch. I let it cool down then boot it up again and it was fine after that.
I am sorry, but nothing helped.
Sit and Wait didn't help. Waited over night, same result the other day.
I also wiped the watch from Recovery. For just one time the watch started and demanded more at least 20% power, so I charged it and moved on with the configuration, but all of a sudden the watch turned off.
Since then, after several wiping tries, I had a new behaviour. Watch started with the 4 colored dots, after about 2 min just turned off without showing any other display.
Any other ideas?

@super_joe any luck?
The sit and wait method ended up working for me as well.
I too had the same issue. After restarting the watch it kept shutting down. Then as last attempt I kept the watch on charging cradle and charged the watch. While charging the watched booted normally. Then found out battery was at 3%. But oddly before update it was 98%.
Anyways now it's working normally.
there is no consistent way to charge the watch anymore without overheating?
I have the same problem
Same problem here. after running fine with LeeDroidV2. But after the battery died it wouldn't fully start anymore.
Thought it was heat related too so I put it on the A/C fan. Still switches off. Gonna flash stock and will report back
I can't get it to work. It says "Starting Apps" after loading them (38 of 38) and the "shutting down" Just flashed stock 5.1.1. Any ideas?
finally back alive! I don't know what the problem was. When it finally booted without shutting down, the battery was at 2%. Even though it was on the cradle for 2hrs.
the phone was working flawlessly, I sold it.. when I was at USPS I started the factory reset process and put the phone in the box.. could be that the battery was almost empty, cant remember exactly. the phone arrived to the person who bought my phone, and it wont start or charge at all.. any suggestions? maybe the battery was empty before the phone had fully reseted? or any other problem?
please help me!!
You should have done all this the night before, rather than waiting for the last minute at the USPS. In any event, how long did the new owner put the phone on charge before letting you know?
yeah I know.. I regret it, believe me.. about an hour or two..
All I can recommend is that he try for a longer period. Also, have him try connecting it to his computer and see what happens.
Unless he's willing to get the battery replaced, I think you're going to have to take this one back.
it's on the way to me..
I got the phone. it wont turn on. it vibrates, I try to connect it to the comp and it says: your phone is locked or something like this. any suggestions?
