I thought this might come handy to work on Atrix phones right out of the box with no SIM, Bypassing the Motoblur registration right to the home screen rather quickly.
Step1 (Bypassing the "No SIM card/Emergency calls only"
-Power up the phone while holding "Volume Down" until "fastboot" appears in top of the screen.
-Use the "volume down" button to navigate through booting options until you see "Boot Android (No BP) then press "Volume Up".
-The phone will skip the "No SIM card/Emergency calls only" right to the Motorblur account setup screen.
Step2 (Byapssing the Motorblur account setup)
-Bring up the virtual keyboard by holding the "Menu" key at the language selection screen of the Motorblur account setup.
-Press the "?123" key followed by ALT then "e" two times in a row, Then type "bluroff" (without the quotations).
Code:
the following keys exactly in this order..
-?123
-ALT
-ABC
-e
-?123
-ALT
-ABC
-e
-b
-l
-u
-r
-o
-f
-f
-Motorblur account setup will shutoff and you will be taken to home screen.
Note: Doing this just once will disable the Motorblur account login in all future boots.

So how does skipping blur affect the phone?

So if we disable moto blurr and leave the sim card in would this let us run stock android without blurr? Would the phone work proper?
No, what OP is trying to say is if you want to mess around with the phone without having to type in a moto blur account and putting in a sim card do the methods above.
Basically its to disable moto blur when you have no sim card and no wifi.

doesnt disable motoblur at all, motoblur is baked in the software, you cant disable it without root, all this does is skip setup...nothing else
The Bell Atrix actually tells you how to skip Blur registration. It's on page 4 of the manual and doesn't require any fancy passcodes. Simply press Menu... Done.

Of course not. Disabling the motoblur account registration is for quick-accessing the phone and/or not wanting motorola to have your personal data on their servers.

Where does it say "disable motoblur"?!! Title reads "no motoblur account" and descriptions says "bypassing".
In short, This is the fastest way to access a brand new motorola phone right after putting in the battery and powering it on.

Good. I just checked the AT&T Atrix manual and there's nothing about skipping the motoblur account registration. I wish it was just the menu button, It took me a while to figure out how to enter the bluroff code.
Thanks

Of course it does not disable the motoblur skin, Just bypass the annoying registration screen like this method for AT&T models.
Currently, The most far you can get away from MotoBlur is by using the GingerBlur ROM.

The first step worked without any problems. I couldn't get step 2 to work with the above commands. I had to press ("ALT" and "e") two times followed by, "bluroff" to shutoff the MotoBlur account setup.
I'm really sorry to ask this stupid question, but if (when) you need to "reveal" ALT key, you have to click ?123 first. Clicking ALT after that shows special characters on keyboard, like "#$%", so how you are managing to click ALT>E. Can someone tell exact key press sequence please? Like "?123">"ALT">"another key"

Install Launcher Pro or ADW after skipping,
since I am bell atrix, i have no luck to install any custom rom
I also have the Bell Atrix.
Does skipping the Moto Blur registration and sign in improve the speed of the device - eg, does it slow it down??
If not, I don't care using the Moto Blur account sign in, because it saves me from having to re-do my other accounts sign-ins every time I factory reset.

Does anyone know if there is a soft reset/restart app available?
I am checking out a bunch of themes and hitting "Menu+End+Call" at the same time is a pain!
I am hoping there is a simple app that you just press, select to confirm, and it restarts the phone.
I have had a similar app for every smartphone I have owned except this one. WM5, Blackberry, etc.
I searched in several different ways and have been unable to locate this type of app. If my search wasn't extensive enough please let me know so the monitors can delete this thread.
Search the market for 'tReboot'
It notes on the market that the app only works with Dev phones.
I have a rooted phone - but, not a Dev phone.
That is exactly what I want... If it worked on a Rooted phone it would be great! Thanks for the info.
np sorry about that, didn't know what type you had or whether it would work or not on which phones, just saw it in the market while browsing around I'm sure the dev will make it better.
why don't you just long hold the end call button and press 'shut down'
Or you may get DroidSans Tweak Tools 0.87, it has a option for reboot ^^;
Or use adb (or terminal emulator) to enter the command
reboot recovery
then just wait for it..... It will reboot into recovery mode automagically!
DroidSans Tweak Tools works.
You could also use the gSript app and put a shortcut on your desktop with a reboot script.
I would think that would be the easiest way.
Yes, I just found the Gscript app today.
I think I am going to use that. I have Droidsans Tweak Tools - but, I think mine is the lite version. Didn't use the other version because my phone has JF latest mod on it and I didn't know that app added anything that wasn't covered by the mod that the lite version had.
"Or use adb (or terminal emulator) to enter the command
reboot recovery
then just wait for it..... It will reboot into recovery mode automagically!" - Kinda defeats the whole purpose of having something that is quick and easy.
Looks like Gscript will end up working best. Then if Buttercut will work with my Home program I can just give it a nice looking icon.
Thanks!

Of course, I know about that. But, when I am constantly checking out new themes and tinkering with my phone it is a hassle to keep pressing three buttons at the same time to reboot when I could have a button on the home screen to press without having to pick the phone up.
It is just a convenience issue - like the whole cell phone/smart phone thing to begin with. LOL

Agreed. On my phone I seem to have to be fantastically precise with the timing of all three buttons at once. Even with concentrated effort it most often brings up the dialler, the menu or goes into sleep mode (annoying). I put a GScript - Reboot shortcut on my homepage and it works fine.
I am also looking forward to a application that could reboot the phone like those found in Windows Mobile. As the above reply said, sometimes we may not press all three buttons together at one go. Seems like we got to wait.

Why wait for an app when you can use a script?
Download Gscript from the above posted links.
To create a reboot/soft reset/re-start script you just:
Open Gscript
Select the "Menu" button
Select "Add script"
Enter a name for your script - I entered "Re-Start" - but, use what you want.
Make sure "Needs SU?" is checked.
Enter "reboot" inside the large text window.
Select save.
Long press on your new script and select to "save to SDcard."
Go to your home screen. Long press in a blank area and go through the prompts to add a shortcut. Select Gscript and it will give you the options to choose which script you wish to create a shortcut for. Then you can use Bettercut to give it a nicer look (unless you are like me and using a custom home screen which won't work with Bettercut!)
Why not "reboot recovery"? Then you won't need to hold the home button when it reboots. Just a thought.
I use pattern to unlock my Galaxy S, but my son played with my phone and accidentally input too many patterns and make my phone only can be unlocked by signing into google account.
I typed my correct gmail user name and password, but still can't sign in and unlock the phone. I am also using APN ON/OFF application, and the APN status is OFF. I am thinking maybe it makes my phone unable to connect to the Internet and sign in to gmail.
Is there anyone know how to solve this problem without resetting the phone into factory default? And if I need to factory reset my phone, how can I do it because the 3 button combination is not working with my Galaxy S?
I'll be grateful if there is someone who can help
Many people have had this issue to some extend, most of them simply reflash the phone since that fixes it.
I remember someone wrote that you somehow could bypass it, sadly cant seem to locate the post anymore.

Try to put your gmail login info from all different gmail account you have.
Also try this. Take out battery>wait for 3 hours > but the battery back > press power button for 20 seconds (This method was listed by one guy on other forum).
One guy also mentioned this method.
AGAIN ITS the lamest thing you could ever think of, anyway heres how it goes,
1) Log in to your google account on your pc, the same account you registered for your phone
2) After logging in look at the top right corner of your inbox/email page, it would say your google username. Like say if you name is John, and you have a google id thats registered to your galaxy s as ,[email protected] Now this google id on the top right corner of the page would be displayed [email protected]
3) Type in the google id, thats visible on the right hand top corner of your page ([email protected]) into your galaxy s handset locked page, and type in the password.
TADA AND YOUR ON TO THE NEW SCREEN TELLING YOU TO PUT IN ANOTHER PATTERN.
Thanks

If you cant login by computer then go here

this solution is with thanks to another person on another site...
You need a WiFi connection available for this to work!
1) Call your phone from a different phone.
2) Answer the call. While still connected...
3) Hit the BACK button on the phone (the arrow softkey)
4)This takes you to the home screen (it might take a few attempts, it depends on your timing. It took me 4 attempts)
5)Drag down your notifications bar and turn the WiFi on if it isn't already.
6)Close the notifications bar then hit the MENU softkey, select Settings then "Accounts and sync".
7)Click "Add Account" and select Google.
8)Sign up for a new google account as normal.
9)When the signup process is complete (and it must successfully create an account) you can hang up the call. (Do not sync the accounts)
10)Now when the phone asks you to unlock it using google credentials, use the ones from the account you just created. It will now ask you for a new security pattern, then for the same pattern again to verify.
11)Once you are back into the phone, turn off this "feature" until Google release a fix for the bug.
12)You can now delete the "false" google account which you just created from the phone. You should log into google and delete it from there too really.
13)Now reboot your phone. When the phone starts up and it still says "Phone Locked" don't panic!, Just drag the screen out of the way to unlock the phone, just like you did before you activated the pattern security.

Not sure if this has been posted before, but for reference, here's two lovely commands for your Revo4g.
Please note! Not all of the commands in the menus are safe-- in fact, just plain ol assume that these menus can totally mess up your phone in a way not even LG understands.

Good luck! Don't brick your device!

What better way to snub your nose at apple then to have a carbon copy of there OS? Android is such an attractive option due to its ability to be anything its creator wants. YOU should be ashamed of yourself for even suggesting for folks to stop there hard work in adding another facet to android. Source is out just for this reason, not to start a list of things you can't or shouldn't do.

So let me get this straight, Android OS without Android's customize ability and a GUI that matches iOS almost perfectly. What's the point. You might as well just get an actual iPhone. The whole point of Android over iPhone is customization, freedom of platform to do what you want and having a more robust system in general.
It's kinda cool but is a big step backwards imho.

No, we're not all friends. There was once this douchebag in the cdma HTC hero forums that nobody liked..he flamed everyone all the time and we all wanted him banned.. lol

Does it have Android framework? If yes, it's possible, but it will depend on compatibility.

Can Tasker automate the abling and disabling of a security PIN for unlocking the phone? For example, while at home I would like to have no screen lock, but while out I would like more security and so would like a PIN to be required for accessing the phone. Thanks in advance.
Yes it can

When I'm off work later tonight I can post step by step instructions. Do you have wifi at home? Because I have mine set so that it knows I'm at home when I'm connected to my home wifi.
thats exactly what I want! I would appreciate it very much!
1. Create new profile - name it whatever you want
2. Under First Context choose State > Net > Wifi Connected
3. Under SSID input your home wifi's network name or if connected to it then just hit the magnifying lens in the upper right and select your home network and hit the green checkmark at the bottom to save it
4. Choose New Task and name it whatever you want.
5. Hit the plus sign to add a new action and choose Plugin > Secure Settings
6. Now hit Edit under Configuration and change Keyguard to either password/pin or pattern lock (depending on what security you've choosen) and select Off (I also check the setting where I've got to enter in my pass code once before it will unlock but that's up to you) and then hit the disk icon in the bottom right to save it and again confirm that you want to save it.
7. Hit the green checkmark again and also on the next screen.
8. Then click on the action you created and choose Add Exit Task and repeat the steps starting at step 4 but this time under Password/Pin or Pattern Lock choose On.
9. Then just keep hitting the green checkmarks until you exit out of Tasker.
I typed this out on my phone on the bus ride home so let me know if it's not clear or I missed a step. And you will need to first install Secure Settings that I linked to earlier.
Awesome, thanks for posting that! I haven't used Tasker, or Locale or any other automating app, so I'm curious, why would one choose Tasker over Locale? I just have a few simple things i want to automate (though that list could grow once I get into it).

I've never used Locale but before I bought Tasker I read a few reviews comparing the two and it seems that Locale is more user friendly but Tasker is more powerful. But for most everyday uses Locale will probably work fine.

I did exactly as you said and i can't get it to work. Did you clear the lock settings in security before doing this or keep that? Also what rom are you using, that may be the problem for me (elite ics).
I've tried setting a lock, and then connecting to wifi but lock doesn't go away. I also tried having no lock set and turning off wifi, but the lock doesn't show up on the screen.

I didn't think to add that you've also gotta open Secure Settings and select the Helper tab and install the Helper. There's also an option there to download a flashable zip to install the helper (it's gotta be in system to work). I've just gotten so used to flashing the helper every time I flash a new ROM I didn't think of it.

Had Helper installed and still didn't work. Btw Helper is for pattern only, you don't need it for pin/password.
I'll try playing around some more tomorrow. Thanks for the help!
I'm very interested in this. If you get this working I may have to break down and buy tasker. Always been curious about it, but never really had a purpose of it til this came up.

Did you also enable Tasker as a device administrator? This can be found in your phone settings under Security.

Sorry, don't know what to tell you. Tasker's working great for me.
tried llama and it kinda worked with built-in actions but not with the secure settings plugin.
Couldn't you also do it by location as well, instead of Wifi connection. Which is basically Locale.
