I jailbroke my mytouch 3g aka htc magic and was running cyanogen6.1, originally with amon ra's recovery but then switched to clockwork for ROM manager.
It was running pretty crappy after owning it for a year and dropping it a lot, so I hit up tmobile for my upgrade and they told me that the hd7 could do video out, and that her husband had done it.
I've been searching for the past two days trying to find anything about it and nothing. I talked to tmobile a few times and a few people at htc. One person at htc said that it would have to be a docking station type thing with the microusb (to connect to phone) and a 120v us power plug, and an hdmi out. I asked if he knew if they existed with rca outs and he said yes but harder to find. I can't find rca or hdmi outs on any docking stations for this phone. Does anyone have any intel on this?
Thanks.
DaveG
Seriously?
No replies at all? I can't be the only one that wants video out capability. Maybe because I started with my xda background of rooting my mytouch people stopped reading.
I want to know how to video out of my hd7. Audio is obviously easy enough. 3.5mm to split rca or whichever you want. But will a microusb to hdmi work? Can you get a microusb to a single yellow RCA? Was the htc guy right that you have to have a docking station? Docking station seems like a good idea either way because the main reason I would want this is to watch netflix and freinds houses that don't have internet and such. Docking station would hopefully give you the ability to charge the phone and video out at the same time.
Any replies would be appreciated.

RCA to HDMI isnt easy, and doubt unless you knew electronics in an advanced way could hack something up i think your stuck
What about just using a microusb to hdmi cable to connect to a tv with an hdmi in. Would the phone automatically know to transmit video signal across the microusb or is there an app that could manage that in existence yet?
Also, has anyone heard of the docking station the htc guy referred to that has a 120v us plug and has the ability to charge the phone and transmit video via hdmi output from docking station, at the same time?
I just returned the phone and am going to go with the new G2X instead, but this info could still be helpful to some.
That would be useful for me :-D

Does anyone know if you can get a seperate usb cable for the streak yet?
I want a spare one so i can keep it in the car, or a longer one because i find the one that comes with the streak to be too short.
Anyway if anyone knows where to get one then could they let me know
Just had a thought while typing.. just buy a usb extension lead...off to buy one to see if it works.
yes Dell sell them on their website mate
Another option is a USB extention cable. I got a 6FT for like $10 at RadioShack. Works great for me, you can also buy the Dell car kit that will work as a backup USB cable.
Is there a way to buy a compatible one?
I live in italy and we can order only from dell.it that obviusly hasn't streak and accessories in their site....

It'd have to be blooming long to use in the car, depending on the car journey

Well it has recently been confirmed that the streaks connection port is a PDMI connection. The Slacker G2 radio also uses a PDMI but no one has tried its cable yet. Specs are one thing but fitting is another. (Think of it how the first iPhone had a 3.5mm headset jack but you had to buy the apple headphones that didn't an elbow and were narrow enough to fit in there.)
So if anybody has, or knows someone that has a Slacker G2, feel free to try the cable out and tell us all
Source:
http://www.streaksmart.com/2010/08/dell-streaks-proprietary-connector-is-actually-pdmi.html
Images that I can find for the slacker 2 radio charging lead seem to show a standard mini usb connector. Maybe the pdmi connector is data only?
can u use the ones on ebay?
Now i ordered another one from Dell site....
With only one cable, I finally ran out of patience and also constant carrying existing cable from place to place everytime I moved around.....
I have to have one near my bed for reading/charging thru the night....one in the car - which I will carry around to office as well...in the coming months hopefully the price will drop or there will be another source - till then this will do.

I guess it has both. check out this dock for the slacker g2... looks the same.. also looks like the ipod connector so don't know for sure till someone actually tests it out.
oh and here's one on amazon for 27.99
Any chance we will see a combo cable that would allow charging via usb/and also provide audio out? Id like to run a charging cable behind the dashboard of my car for docking in a cradle, and also have audio out for the auxiliary input to the headunit without having to run a second wire.
Not that running a second wire would be much of a hassle, but would prefer a cleaner look when docked and one less wire when not in the dock
I wish Samsung had put some thought into their car dock. Id be happy to buy the official dock if they hadn't dropped the ball on this one.
It was easy to convert the car dock so it has audio as well.
If You seek on my posts You will find a how to.
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I couldn't find the howto. I would like to mod the OWM car dock to allow audio output, and I'd appreciate any help in such direction.

i have this one
but u can find even cheaper on that site
hey, quick question: does it work only for video? or power point as well? thank you
it does
its a good alternative to the dock even if its not HD
Do I get my music through this cable? Or does it work with combined video audio files only?

i searched through a ton of your posts and didn't see anything besides the pinout. my question is how do you take apart the plug to get to the connector, and are all the pins available to solder to?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9985704#post9985704
well here is the post where the gentleman posts to replace a resistor to get it to output audio to the dock. the only question left is how to take the thing apart, whether it comes apart nicely or i have to break out the dremel...
Not sure if you need the same as I do, but my idea was also to have a USB charging plug and an audio-out jack. It wasn't easy, but I found this:

I got one off Amazon, some off brand but it gives a terrible hum in the audio and the tab doesn't see it as a dock.....still looking for a solution

Hello good day to everybody
I'm using a MT3G with no audio Jack. Where I live HTC is a very rare brand. It's not likely to find accessories specific to the brand.
I just purchased a generic USB to minijack cable only to find that it doesn't work. The phone doesn't detect the headphones.
I downloaded somewhere an app called sound route or something like that. It didn't work but I think it's something there.
Do you know about a way to route the sound like, by force through the USB? Command line things or maybe even the manual. I don't know, something
My USB cable has 4 pins.
Thank you for your attention :-D

Hey guys, I found this cable on Buy and it looks interesting. I have not bought it yet but it does list the Bionic as compatible. Has anyone tried it? If so, please let us know how it is. If not, and you have a spare $10 go for it and bring back word. When mine comes I'll do the same.
Thanks!
So would be used for headsets with microphones, right? I see no reason for it unless that is the case.
It would be for 3.5mm audio out from the USB port w/o buying motos full car dock set.

Can you charge the phone while using this? It appears to only have a male USB plug, without any provision to plug a charger into a female jack.
i dont think this cable will work, and if it does id be a waste to not just spend another ten bucks and get the moto OEM cable +charging
heres why: the OEM cable not only charges and outputs audio but, more importantnly, *it bypasses the internal SW amp*. this means you are outputting as clean of an analog signal as you can from the phone to be amped directly by your car's components. you lose the ability to DSP/FX/Beats control, but if you use NeutronMP like you should be, it doesn't matter at all
Wouldn't trust the compatibility list, as Apple i-devices are listed as well. I used to be interested in a product like this, but seems redundant to me now... (why not use 1/8" Jack/aux cable?)

Im getting the bionic dock in a couple fo days, and want to set it up in my office connected to a keyboard, mouse, and monitor. I have an old flat screen monitor from my PC, (which died), that has the pin connector. is there an adaptor that will go from the monitor, to the dock USB connector? I have googled, and cant find anything. every link was for items used to connect multiple monitors to one PC, and were more expensive than the bionic dock!
anyone know what I should be looking for, or if it even exists?
You definitely will need an expensive device to convert an HDMI signal to a VGA signal.
You've probably seen DVI to HDMI (and vice versa) converters that were relatively cheap before ($5 to $30). These devices are cheap because the signal doesn't actually have to be converted from digital to analog. The signal is basically just getting switched to different pins on the cable as it passes through the converter.
The signal coming out of our phones (HDMI) is a digital signal so to switch it to an analog signal (VGA) you need a scan converter. A scan converter is a device that actually converts each frame of video from one format to another. If you've ever converted a video file from one format to another on your PC, this is a somewhat similar process. For it to happen on the fly you need a specialized device (the scan converter).
Here is an example of what you would need.

You're right, these things are pretty expensive and you could buy a monitor with an HDMI input for close to the same cost.
Never thought I'd see a Utah person here I'm in layton

I remember seeing a Motorola accessory that allowed for vga output. http://m.motorola.com/Consumers/US-...hargers-and-Adapters/WEBTOP-VGA-ADAPTER-US-EN
But to work THROUGH a dock, that would take some doing. I'll look into this a little deeper after work.
xda premium is insane! ... In a good way.
Thanks! I guess I'm leaving it for now, and will just upgrade the monitor some day. Probably won't need to since the lapdock 500 should be here next week.
