New doubletwist update now supports sdcard2 - G Tablet Themes and Apps

Good news for doubletwist fans. They put out an update this morning that will support putting your files on sdcard2. Pretty simple to set up (although not user intuitive). If you go into settings there is a setting to delete your doubletwist database at the bottom. Click that and it will rebuild the database looking at any drives you have.
Excellent improvement!

Awesome. I use double twist with air sync in both my phone and tablet.

awesome~ I actually really like Doubletwist player and that was one of the main gripes I had about it (Will it also look into the USB port?)
Also, I've had problems getting the Internet Radio to work with it
But I haven't really tried that hard to get it to work yet...

Well, clicking on 'Reset doubleTwist' under settings in doubleTwist (at the bottom under Advanced heading), which deletes the library database and rebuilds it, did not work for me. No media content under /sdcard2 was found
This was with doubleTwist 1.4.2 (10601)

Album Art / S2R Player Help

Hello All...
I have spent DAYS reading here and other places on the web looking for an easy 1step solution for my problem... I have installed S2P and it is great... I love to play the game "Anything your phone can do, mine can do better" to iphone people.. lol.. Anyways, here is my problem..
The S2P software was not displaying the album art so I couldn't do the cool flip throug hte CD thing... So in Monday I decided to try to fix that... I did some reading, and checked if my WIndows Media Player Mobile would display it.. it wasn;t either...
I WAS jsut dragging and dropping onto my SDHC memory card... Read that is the problem as I need to sync it using windows media player on my computer to get it to work... I tried that.. nothing.. I deleted the partnership and tried again.. Still nothing.. I erased the mediaplayer data file from the root directory.. tried again.. nothing nothing nothing..
I read about downloading the cover manually and inserting it as folder.jpg.. That worked perfect.. The problem with that is I have nearlt 50GB of music files.... And that would take forever... Isn;t there a way to just make the hidden album art visable so it goes when I drag and drop? I remember in the OLD days you could see the JPG files in the CD's folder... On my computer, the album art IS There as I can see the image when I use explorer or when I browse my library using MEdia Player... I tried the old trick of making the entire music folder and all sub-directories invisible and then visible to un-hide anything that was hidden, that didn;t work.. I also tried some programs such as AV Album Art Fixer (I just get an error when that program tries to load), MP3Tag and a few others... My problem is I am looking for something that I just point the program at my music folder, and it just either enables all existing album art to a visible copyable file, or something that will automaticall download/copy/whatever the images to the correct folders. Then when I copy them it will "just work"...
I don;t mean to sound lazy, but it is a big pain to have to manually click every album one at a time or to find them myself, download the image, rename it and copy it... Also, please don;t yell at me for not having found the answer myself in another forum or website as I really have been looking for days...
My phone is a HTC 8925 / AT&T Tilt.. But it is unlocked and I am using another carrier (I got Wifi access as well a slower wireless internet working on it). I also have the USB Sync with it as well...
My computer is a Core 2 Quad system running Vista Ultimate x64 edition.
Thank in advance for your help... I really appreciate it!
And on a side note.. a BONUS you could help with... when I scroll through the CD's I manually downloaded the art for.... it scrolls the "narrow" way... I would really prefer it to scroll sideways instead so the CD image is bigger... I tried "opening" the phone to change the rotation, but that didnt; work and seemed to cause problems... This is a minor thing but would be an added bonsu if you coudl help me with that as well... Again, Thank you so much for you help in advance...

Import iTunes library to my Captivate

Hi,
I am avid reader of these forums, and finally pulled the trigger and got the Samsung Captivate (I had to stick with AT&T). I am relatively new to Android, and I was stunned but what I got with my Captivate!! (all due respect to my old beloved Tilt with WiMo). To think I was seriously considering iPhone 4
Anyway, I am yet to root the phone - will wait a few more days to get comfortable. For now I have been playing with a ton of apps etc.
I have a 100 GB iTunes Library which sits on my home server. I am looking for a solution where I can selectively sync certain albums and playlists to my phone. No point in carrying around 2 devices. I have already tried Double Twist. The problem is I need to install the client on my Laptop and get the music synced from the home server. I have got this working by manually adding 1 folder at a time - which is cumbersome, and not to mention that I loose artwork, ratings etc.
So, I am looking to [Home Server] <--> [Laptop] <--> [Phone]. At any point the source for this library is the Home Server, Laptop is only a pass thru.
Why use the laptop in the middle? I don't want to store media files here (work laptop).
Why not directly sync with the Home Server? It sits in the basement and I am lazy to go down the every time I want to sync that was my major irritant with iPod syncing.
Any recommendations?
Regards
Nick
Can't you set up home sharing in iTunes? That way you can see your library from your server on your laptop, and have doubletwist pull your playlist from that iTunes.
Home Server <--> Laptop --> DoubleTwist --> Captivate
I can't remember the exact steps, but I know you can pull from a home server like you are saying. Most people do it with their home theater set ups, but I don't see why it couldn't be done this way
I just use estrong file manager, and am able to get to my file shares via wifi. While this might work exactly like you want you won't have to plug in. just a thought.

I found Doubletwist to be unstable. I used MediaMonkey. It supports playlists and syncing to mounted drives or media devices. If you mount your homeserver as a drive letter on the laptop, then MediaMonkey should work fine.
The free version did all i needed, but it doesn't sync video - just music.
Google is your friend.

This works with any android phone.

[Q] Doubletwist and removable SD

Is there any way to get Doubletwist to recognize and store my files on the removable SD instead of the phone's internal "media area"? I'm filling up the latter quite fast, while the external card is nearly empty. I can't find any setting in DT that lets you choose where to store music on the device.
I know that Doubletwist's publisher has been promising a "fix" for about five months now, but I figured someone here might have come up with something on their own.
Any help appreciated. TIA
Alternatively, any recommendations on a player with desktop iTunes sync functionality and flexibility in storage locations on the Bionic?
This is a known issue with the Bionic and DoubleTwist. I submitted a ticket with Doubletwist support, and they confirm that the software is not working properly with ExternalSD on the Bionic.
I uploaded my DeviceID information for them, and the support agent promised that it would be fixed in the next release. They offered no workaround. Sorry
I've been using Songbird with MediaSync to get around the issue, but it does no transcoding, which is less-than-ideal.
It's because Moto made /sdcard the internal memory and /sdcard-ext the external as opposed to the normal /emmc and /sdcard for internal and external respectively.
This problem is shared with the x2 and d3 and there is a fix, I"m just not sure if it was adapted to the Bionic yet.

I use Easy Phone Tunes Plus on my Bionic and it works fine for me. Easy Phone Tune has a free version that you can try to see if you like it. It's also available for PC or Mac.
Thanks for the info!
@kraamerica, does Easy Phone Tunes Plus store files on sd-ext? That's my bigger issue, really: Even with syncing only a portion of my music, I run out of space quickly. Kind of a bite to have the SD card there and not be able to use it.

I will look this afternoon when I get back to my PC. That's where you control the syncing and it's pretty good and letting you choose what you want to sync (including podcasts) I just can't remember if there is a "where".
When you 1st establish a connection through the setting's of the Easy Phone Application, it will show your "2" phones (one is your internal, the other external). You would chose the 2nd "phone" unless you have the SD card swap in place.
Then you go through the rest of what you what synced in the next section of the setup and you are good to go. Or so I would hope.

RAZR i: PC Software for Media?

Hey can anyone recommend good software for managing media? I particularly want to transfer photos easily. I have a program for music, but I'm open to recommendations. I know that Samsung has Kies and Sony has Media Go, both are useful. Does Motorola have any official media software?

Try AirDroid. The transfer is over wifi and you can transfer almost everything. Besides it is a file manager, ftp server, system manager...
Thanks for the recommendation. I'm really looking for PC/laptop software, I find it really easy to manage media from there. I see Songbird will only connect in Mass Storage Mode and Songbird is OK for music but not pictures. I'll find something eventually!

Is Motorola Motocast acceptable http://www.mymotocast.com/download
Hi, that software looks PERFECT. I tried it with the RAZR i and it won't set up at all. I have everything installed but cannot manage media let alone sync anything. Is this software compatible with the RAZR i?

Well according to the download on Play it says not.
You mentioned Medio Go so presumably you also use it? You can copy your photos etc in to Media Go and simply select your folder/s from there and select “Add to” Your phone will then show up as “Unnamed device” with the sub-options of moving them to internal or external memory, or you can simply transfer them directly from your pictures folder. No offence intended but I don’t see the problem.
This is my first Motorola (and also Android) phone, but they sure don’t seem too concerned about providing PC media management.
How about google Picasa?
No worries, I get it; if you have use for something, you understand, if you don't need something, you won't understand. A few of my other devices (Apple and Sony) allow for quick and automatic movement of media from A to B or vice versa just by connecting the devices, I'm looking for the same now. I've been using the 10 camera shot per second feature and the photos are really stacking up. Drag and drop is a bit too 1990s for me. I've uninstalled Media Go now, I thought it didn't even recognise non-Sony devices? I'll give it a go then, if you say it appears.
True about Motorola and PC management, everywhere related to my phone it directs me to Motocast. I emailed them and they said the RAZR i is not compatible. Nevermind, I'll find something.
All I’m saying is that you can transfer files/folders via Media Go using “Add to” on right-clicking in Windows.
Whether this is the functionality you’re actually looking for I’m not sure but it works for me. I’ve used it to transfer a couple of albums and a number of tracks over (although my Walkman is my main portable music source), and after reading your thread I thought I’d see how it works with photos and no problems.
Just tried it out with iTunes but there doesn’t seem to be an obvious way of doing the same: there may be,but I can’t be bothered to find out!
Thanks buddy, I appreciate your help.
For music, if you do like iTunes, I have a recommendation. There is an app called iSyncr which allows you to copy any lists in your iTunes directly to your phone. If you use their Rocket Player to use the music, it will update your playcounts etc. Music at least, I've got covered! :good:

Any Advice For an Audio Player (Local Files only)

I have 1,000 CDs that I've ripped to my PC as WAV. They are basically all of the rock genre (Classic, hard rock, heavy metal, nu metal, 90s grunge, etc.), and because of that, I prefer lossless. I've tagged all of them to the Discogs database, using Foobar2000.
I use this same collection on my PC and also copied to the MicroSD of my Note 9, which I connect to my Kenwood DMX907S head unit through Wireless Android Auto.
The objective is to create several playlists based on tags. Also, I want to be able to normalize the sound, so that regardless of the quality of the recording, all tracks are equally as loud at their highest points within the tracks. For playing on PC, this can be easily done, using Foobar2000. From what I understand, there is an Android App for Foobar2000, but it was not nearly as developed as the PC version and therefore cannot create playlists based on the type of tags I'm looking to utilize.
Tags include:
Genre
Artist
Album
Date Added to Library
Possibly other custom tags (for instance, Live or Studio / Original or Cover)
Are there any Android Auto compatible music apps out there that can create these types of playlists using local files, such that they're compatible with Android Auto? ...AND can manage the sound levels as needed?
I use Bubble upnp as I also use it to cast. Give it a look to see if it does everything you are interested in.

I added that app and am currently trying it. I'm noticing that all artists are listed as <Unknown>. Is this because when tagging, I used the %artist% tag instead of %album artist% ? Is there a way to adjust this in the app?
I had some rips that didn't read correctly and ended up using MP3TAG on my PC to fix their metadata. I rip all my CDs to FLAC with EAC, and generally it just works, so I can't be of much help.
Although BubbleUPNP is an excellent DLNA media player, it doesn't support Android Auto and there are no plans to include it anytime soon (I requested the dev for this feature to be added and was told it was basically impossible unless the whole app was rewritten from scratch. That was a couple of years ago now, and unfortunately nothing's changed since).
For local music playback, I'm using 'Oto Music' from the Play Store. It's a very well designed music player with Replay Gain and full AA support, although I'm not too sure if regarding your playlists it could be what you're looking for... In any event, it's a free app and constantly gets upgrades and new features.
Now you got me wondering. I use BubbleUPNP in the car all the time, but possibly only from my tablet via bluetooth. I thought it also worked from my phone via AA... I'll have to re-check that.
