[Q] EVDO Rev. A Sticks When Reflashing? - Touch CDMA Android Development

I was wondering if the latest radio for the Vogue sticks while flashing kernels, Android ROMs, etc, or if you have to flash back to the latest 6.1 update that enabled EVDO Rev. A.
Does the radio survive through all of that? I'm guessing so, but would like an answer from the more experienced forum-goers.

Vogue android roms do not include a radio, so whatever you have will stay.

Radio flash question

I upgraded my radio to p3droid. Today I flashed a new rom. So I was wondering if my radio gets downgraded back to original after flashing a new rom.

Don't honestly know the answer to whether the radio is flashed when flashing a new rom. I would expect since most radio updates appear to be separate update.zips that the rom doesn't upgrade radio. You can check under Settings>About Phone>Baseband Version. The latest I believe is C_01.3E.03P.
The radio does not get touched during a rom flash.
Thanks I noticed after checking original radio in Droid setting info and the version I have now. I forgot what the original version was but got it now. Thanks

I do believe the latest radio does require you to have Froyo... the earlier ones should work on any ROM. And the radio can be updated when you flash an update.zip ROM. It just depends on how the Dec has it set up.
The latest is C_01.43.01P - released with FRF84B
The one before that was C_01.41.00R - released with FRF57
And before that was C_01.3E.03P - the one released with 2.1 Eclair (ESE81)

Thanks. The only thing with new radio is it drops down to 1G alot. It sucks because it always seems to do it when I'm doing something important or downloading. Other wise it works much better than the original one I had.

I am currently on stock 2.1. The baseband since the update gives me a lot of issues at home 3g and switching to 1x. The new froyo rom should give me an updated baseband when it comes right? Otherwise I will have to get the previous basebands installed and root my phone?

No, I had similar question but when flashing roms it doesn't touch the baseband. I also have that issue mine drops to 1x alot also and is frustrating. But the older ones when I do searches on the internet it take almost 30 seconds for data transfer to start. The latest is quicker at that but the 1x drop is frustrating. To clearify again though the only way the baseband is updated or downgraded is by flashing it through an update zip or ota update. Roms don't affect it.

I should also add after flashing a rom, try reprogramming the phone by *228. It seems to help when I have issues after new rom. Also I installed a data disable widget. When it drops to 1x I disable the data connection for a minute or couple seconds and reactivate it usually returns to 3g when it comes back on.

Sprint radios?
How about using a Sprint radio on a Droid. IDK. I just got my Droid in the mail yesterday,got it rooted today and am working on checking out radio upgrades for it. I am coming from an CDMA HTC Hero200 from Sprint and with that phone we could put Verizon radio's and PRL's on them to up the coverage area and get better reception. My last one was a Sprint radio with a Verizon PRL and I had the best reception ever! Just some food for thought. If anybody has any valuable info on this I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks in advance!

Radio FW Question

Hello,
can i upragde only the radio fw version ?some people are reporting better battery life with the new baseband fw. And if so, can i flash back the old "downrev" fw back, if i had problems ?
From :
Radio_13.45.55.24_3.35.15.31.zip - OLD, standard in 2.1 Roms
to
Radio_13.53.55.24H_3.35.19.25.zip - NEW in Chinise Froyo 2
I currently have the unrbanded wwe version 1.25.405.1 installed.
This is something I too would be interested to know. I have tried to do some serching but this is the first case I can find regarding the new 2.2 radio from the chinese rom.
I am currently on Puzzlerom 7.3
Once the v8 rom / v8.0.1 is stable I will go to that. Unless we have ourselfs a 2.2 froyo rom out before that. As I use my phone in a variety of ways and in multipule situations, I cant go without it for very long. 2 hrs at a time max.
Hope to be able to test things though ^_^
Peace
Just Made the update trough recovery .now iam running at the 2.1 Rom with the new radio firmware active from the new android 2.2 chinese rom. Actually I see no problems at all

All components are working fine (gsm/umts,wlan,gps and bluetooth).
Only the frst Time GPS FIX takes a bit longer after update.
Also, the battery life seems to be a bit longer and the handy seems
to be more stable during calls with active data connections.

[Q] XT883 radio image/fastboot for [SELFKANG ICS/CM9 ROM Alpha #5] GSM AT&T/T-Mobile?

[Q] XT883 radio image/fastboot for [SELFKANG ICS/CM9 ROM Alpha #5] GSM AT&T/T-Mobile?
So i was Wondering if its Possible to Flash the XT883 radio image to HashCode's ICS/CM9 Rom Alpha #5 and do a build.prop tweek or so.. so we can have use of AT&T and T-Mobile just like you can do on the Stock Moto XT862 rom or The 2.0 Liberty Rom
My Droid 3 is Unlock and I am using Simple Mobile witch is on T-Mobile's Network
it Has Work Fine with Liberty 2.0 and stock Moto Rom i Have try the flashing method on ICS/CM9 but for some reason it wont give me the option to switch to GSM/UMTS on Network settings I have also try going to *#*#4636#*#* and switching is to GSM Only and Nothing Seems to happen, to me it seems like its not Flashing the Radio but not sure... Has any one try doing this?
When you flash a rom its only flashing /system. Your radio.img should stay intact. However cm9 afaik still has issues with gsm, regardless of which radio.img you have

I'm going to be waiting till I get back on Verizon before I try this ROM. Hopefully by then it will be in Beta as well
Same results here. I been trying to get an ICS rom to run with the XT883 radio since I use Straight Talk (Wally's AT$T). But to no avail thus far. If anyone has managed to get them both to work, simultaneously I mean, help me into the "know". Thanks All........
Has anyone had any luck with the New ICS/CM9 Alpha #6?
For CM9, and Verizon Stock ROM to work with GSM:
Replace radio of XT883 into XT862 ROM using Fastboot. Install Safestrap if you want to flash CM9.
After flash the ROM in Safestrap (Don't ask me how to safestrap, Google it), replace the /system/lib/libmoto_ril.so & /system/etc/ppp/peers/pppd-ril.option with xt883's, edit /system/build.prop, changes:
ro.mot.eri=1 >>> ro.mot.eri=0
ro.cdma.nbpcd=1 >>> ro.cdma.nbpcd=0
ro.telephony.gsm-routes-us-smsc = 1 >>> ro.telephony.gsm-routes-us-smsc = 0
ro.cdma.home.operator.isnan=1 >>> ro.cdma.home.operator.isnan=0
find ro.kernel.android.ril=yes, and append these 2 lines below that:
persist.ril.rssi.enable.param6 = 1
persist.ril.baudrate=230400
reboot,then in dialler input *#*#4636#*#*,select Phone Information -> GSM Only (PRL) & same in Wireless & Networks.
Remember most custom ROM are Rooted. For Stock ROM Google for Moto_Fail or Droid 4 exploit and use them.
Thank you so much will try it when I get home I have been waiting for this!!!

One quick question where can i find the /system/lib/libmoto_ril.so & /system/etc/ppp/peers/pppd-ril files do i grab them from a xt883 OTA/Rom? or what? I am trying to do this it with ICS/CM9, Not stock Rom.
after changing the build.prop settings. i cant enter my sim code anymore.
also when entering the *#*#4363#*#* i cant select GSM auto (PRL), stays on Unknown.

[Q] Stock FM Radio in CM7 series

Hi all,
Pardon me if its a noob question, but just curious.
I noticed that on CM7 ROMs the FM Radio sometimes bursts loud.
I tried to replace it with the Stock ROM's radio. Even changed the permission, but now the app force closes. Later I replaced it with More's Radio, still unable to play.
Why is this happening? Or What did I do wrong?
Any information, suggestion and solution appreciated!
You can't just use the radio from stock roms, it needs some tweaking aka porting.
Thank you sir. So seems like I have to use the stock radio on stock roms only or adjust myself with the CM7 based radios.
To run stock apps in cm7 it has to be ported to work in absence of Samsung framework...
