[Q] JS8 vs. JS7 - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What is the difference between JS8 and JS7?? Maybe which one is better?

Really? No one will be able to tell you which is better as all phones react differently. Plus, no one knows what your definition of better is.
Caution swyping! Read at your own risk.

The just found JL8 and JL9 firmwares for T959 are in fact just the JL5 firmware. So don't worry about them

if you wanna keep updated, then do it.
if not, its not much of a difference, the most i noticed is the GB launcher looks different, the bootup animation is different.

Jl8 and 9 are 100 bytes different from JL5. That's like a letter in a config file. Ill grab them and do a file compare to see what has changed.

Man that is a really shady move. A New froyo version would of been really cool though, as it probably would of had some really necessary fixes in it. Just hoping for the next Leak.

what works for other people may not work for you. You'll need to try different rom's in order to find the one you like.

Its stock looking enough that nothing looks weird, its very responsiveness, and it is visually appealing. Cezar used a great gps fix. My phone gets good battery use. And there are alot of customisations available (not as many as firefly, bit alot ).

No, but it's why threads like this get closed pretty quick. They are pointless because what works for one does not necessarily work for another.

And as for my part, I love Team Phoenix's work. Then again, it's my opinion and I think everyone should try different ROM to find the perfect match!

This kind of thread (instead of the "which ROM is best" threads) can actually be useful to a newb like me. Hearing from others with more experience what they like / dislike in the various ROMs is helpful, just like in general reviews of any product are helpful.
I really like firefly so far... its smooth looking and performing

Another Best rom thread
There is no best rom, just best for you. I could rant and rave about the rom I am using and when you load it up with the same settings, kernel and everything and it might not run well on your device. All devices are not made equal.

Dual booting is having 2 os's installed at the same time. It's usually done on pcs, like mine has windows 7(for gaming) and ubuntu(for everything else). Would be interesting on a phone though...

it would be really cool but noone wants to mess with the boot loader for some reason. i dunno, if you want to dual boot you can get an hd2, i think they got that bootloader to work on the evo as well. so the hardware isnt all that special, but you would get dual boot.
i dont want anything gay or unrealistic like winmo or wp7 on a dual boot, just two roms. one to experiment with, and one to use for the phone stuff.

as long as you stay within the same firmware versions (2.2 and 2.2, 2.2.1 and 2.2.1, etc) you can use nandroids to accomplish the same effect

[Q] Kernel Port and which one's the best?

Guys!
i wanted to know which one's the best among the kernels below!?
The much Hyped Trinity Kenel for Nexus S
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893851
iv'e heard that it can outperform the Tegra 2
and
Our Glitch Kernel!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1041532
which one's best and can we get the Trinity mod for us?
as the hardware is almost same?
just curious..!
How many of these popularity tests are you going to do?
Try both kernels and see which you like best. In the end the only opinion that matters is your own.

Dude (or girl, whatever), this phone has a 400 MHz processor. It barely runs Gingerbread. Its just something not possible. If you really want, I can build Android 4.0 from cyanogen mod source (if we have a recent kernel which im not sure if we have) but there will be tons of problems...

well thanks for the offer but nah, it wasnt really a serious post.
i just look in here from time to time for a bit of nostalgia
i still smile when i see the "kaiser 3d drivers at last post"
i just reloaded Gingerbread and its running fine.
on the other hand, it does have a dedicated camera button, what about windows phone 7?

ICS should be possible though. It ran on the blueangel, and the kaiser is slightly faster.
Then again, android runs like **** on kaiser. Probably not a good idea to try anything newer than gingerbread....
