Just rooted to 2.1, thanks to the helpful advice and people here. Two questions...
How can I change the background color on the nook reader? I prefer sepia(brown) or black for the background. It's an option on the nook app on my phone.
And with launcher pro, how do I keep the buttons to stay on screen? They disappear after a while and I'm left with softkeys only. Thx.

Set LauncherPro not to hide the status/notification bar.
And as for the lame options in the stock reader, I use FBreader. Not much option when it comes to reading DRM'ed B&N books I suppose.
When in the BN program and have a book open touch anywhere choose text option from the blue bar, ithe color option is the second one from the top.
Awesome thanks so much.
Hey guys, I just bought my Nook Color yesterday and rooted it as well. The thing I am trying to figure out is is there a tutorial on how to get it like a tablet and put icons on the home screen and use a launcher just like any tablet running on Android? Please keep in mind I am looking for compete instructions on how to change the launcher and add icons and such because I rooted it by following the exact steps. Currently I have Soft Keys as the default launcher with the book one running under that. Thanks very much in advance!
I'm in the same boat. I read the threads and learned a lot, tried a few things, and asked a few questions. The problem with simply following a list of instructions is that you wouldn't really be setting it up the way you want, and that is one of the beauties of rooting.
Az
Well I put Zeam Launcher on it and I am pretty happy with the way it looks so far, just gotta figure out how to add icons and widgets to the pages... Also whats the ideal size for wallpaper for the nook color?
I suggest looking at the screenshots. Finding looks you like. Than going to the android market and doing. No better education that doing.

Use" wallpaper set and save" (free from market) to change wallpaper, and as for placing icons on "desktop" pages, go to apps drawer and press and hold on an app. The drawer will disapear andyou will be able to place it...
Sorry for rushed answer...
Thanks for the replies guys I got my book perfect. The only thing is how can I remove a black bar at the top and bottom of the screen? Its behind the page indicator on the top and behind the dock on the bottom.
i made a complete guide on my website how to root with some different tweaks you can do:

Thanks for the reply but there is nothing on your site saying how to remove the bars and/or to stretch the wallpaper to cover the whole screen as well as behind the dock.
Anyone have an idea of his to strech the wallpaper as was stated in my previous post? I really hate the black bars on top and behind the dock.

You have to get the right size wallpaper. I have lost the link to the site, but you can choose what size wallpaper to dnld & If I remember correctly, if you go to the site with the NC, it will offer the right size files by default.
Cheers,
kev
P.S. The NC screen is 1024 x 600
how to make go launcher icons bigger in the dock?
thanks.
You cant, at least not yet.
If you have an example of something, or know what go-theme does do something your looking for, post the name of it- ill let ya know whats up
Yup...got the same issue...the icons are pretty small...I guess by their size, they must have been meant to be used on Android phones...
Cheers,

Hmm, I have go launcher 2.69 and I can't seem to find the option. Do you know where the option is located in the menus? I might have tried it by accident going through all the settings, but I never saw a change in my icons on the desktop or dock.
Thanks for your time.

It makes all icons bigger, menu>preferences>visual settings>icons>icon size
Edit: the 2.70 beta has the option to change just the dock icon size
Re: how to make go launcher icons bigger
I was able to find the menu setting. However, when I change the icon size to "large" Go Launcher changes it right back to "custom". Any ideas?
Go Launcher Dock Icons
I have sent numerous emails to their developement team requesting this option...and never hear back from them. If you have only 4 icons, the auto adjust makes them the same size, but not with 5 icons. There has to be a way to go in on a rooted phone and tweek their code, or something. I tried ADW since they have this option, and gave it an honest try...had it for a month or so, and just could not resist going back to Go Launcher. For me, this is the only improvement I would want at this point. I think it's a great customization tool, as well as stable. If anyone has any suggestions...please let me know.
So I'm in the process of making my own theme. Im doing all my programming in Eclipse and I'm using the kaydensigh template. I cant seem to figure out how to theme the dock. I've looked around in the XML files but I'm still pretty green when it comes to programming. Also would like to know if there is a way in my theme to force the wallpaper to scroll or not to scroll. Or have the Draw act a certain way? Thanks for the help. Ive figured out most of this myself. But I just cant figure this out. Thanks for the help.
No one wants to help me?
I am looking to mod the Touch Wiz Ux launcher to have a centered AllApps Button. Instead of all the way to the right, I have seen other people do this to the launcher before, but i cant seem to Figure our where or how to make this possible. Would greatly Appreciate it if you could, lend any sort of help to which xml or what needs to be done thanks. I am also looking to change it so you can put 5x5 apps on the pages, i seen this done. Not the App drawer 5x5, that already posted, but the actual launcher page, having the ability to have 5 apps by 5 apps. If there is an xml or somebody knows which one i need to edit for that as well it would be great appreciated.
