I was wondering after i read this
http://venturebeat.com/2011/08/29/25-computer-pi-quake-3/?obref=obnetwork
if it was possible to do the same with our o2x?
With connecting a keyboard and mice to the phone via the micro usb slot and then connect the phone with the hdmi cable to a screen, and run a os maybe linux?
You can install Linux on your phone no problem, it's whether the keyboard, mouse and HDMI out would all work.
Then again, it's been a while since i got linux running on a phone so things might have improved since then
Hmm.Anyone who have tried it yet with the keyboard and mice?

Works great with bluetooth devices, I've tried a keyboard without a glitch
Then this changes everything! i'll have to invest in a bluetooth keyboard and a mice. Then i will for sure check it out.
Im hopeing that the linux on our o2x has been polished so the wifi and sound works now. if so then i will for sure use my phone as a portable mini computer
But i don't think mices work, only keyboards, not 100% but before you invest in a new mouse maybe wait for another reply

Bought an MHL cable today .. but cant find out where the TV OUT settings are ..
is that because its disabled in Stock ?
the cable i have has no option for external power source .. i tried it on my tv and pc monitor bot fail to show anything on screen..
perhaps i need the correct cable that need power source also ? is there an option on the phone that i cant see to enable tv out that isnt visable in stock ?
HELP
Thanks
Normally the note wont need any extra settings to connect via MHL (i´m not completely sure because i am using the sheep rom).
BUT in my opinion its not possible to use a mhl adapter without a power hub, are you sure that theres no slot for the normal charging cable. I dont want to criticize you, it just took me while to find it
Ohh Jesus ... Thanks your right ... i feel SO DUMB .. i found the power input on the side !
i think i was so excited to play mario kart on the big screen i missed it
Thanks !!
thanks
can u please put some photo if its work
& from where u bought it?
thanks again
I bought one from Monoprice.com. It was $15. Works fine. I find it awkward how the dongle hangs when I am using the phone. I am going to look for a microusb extender if there is such a thing.

Hello, I have a problem. I guess this could also apply O2x. When you get involved via HDMI, so the image only works in the gallery and video player. How can I make the TV operate gaming and web browser? The phone is an android 2.2...thanks for the advice.
Hello Shiffty_dnb,
The HDMI port on optimus 2x can mirror images, videos and games on LCD tv.Even we can browse web and mirror it on big screen. The trick is you have to go on landscape mode that means you have to enable auto rotate function and use your phone in landscape position.May this help you on your optimus big.
2.2?
maybe update phone to 2.3 works better then, or custom rom^^
Thx for tip...I upgrade on 2.3.4, but problem is the same. Can't be a bug in the type of cable? I use the cable that was put Motorola Atrix.

May be your device is not supporting the cable..

Loool "not support the cable" if you don't know, micro-usb is universal. but it still might be cables fault... it might be broken inside or something, giving a short circuit... if not, connect storage via cwm
Nobody likes you.
LOL just kidding
About this problem, which stock version you are using? You tried upgrading?

If this happens only with USB connected, no
I meant if it was 2.3.5 or 2.3.6?

Once I read the problem was because static being passed from the USB port all the way to the touch screen

voltage which is being supplied to phone through laptop is much more than the normal voltage and that's why you phone is acting weird try connecting it to different laptop and see if problem exists
many of you may also have seen laptop's mouse not working properly when a unbranded and incompatible charger is connect to the laptop

Hi there,
im having a big problem with MHL on my P880. Once i connect the phone, it simply does nothing. It only charges the battery. The TV recognizes the HDMI-Port i plugged the MHL cable into, but when i change the source to it, it only shows "No Signal".
I've plugged the HDMI into TV, the Micro-USB into the Phone, and the USB into a power source.
But there is no "Media Home" popping up on the P880... nothing
Using the Unofficial CM11 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2551006).
Also flashed everything again, with full wipe and so on...
This is the MHL-Cable i'm using:

TV: Samsung UE40F6500
Someone knows the problem? Im totally frustrated right now

Same problem with same cable and other roms based on the same sources.
The only way to get it work is to flash iodak kernel 9.95 on top of the rom, mhl will work with rotation ok but after the screen turns off you won't be able to turn it on again until reboot.

flashed that kernel now... tried all HDMI ports, even tried on another TV... but still the same issue :crying:
it seems that may: i have to activate MHL anywhere in Android, the cable isn't working or the kernel is still the troublemaker...
So if MHL would work here, the "Media Home" process should pop up. Am i able to force-start that process anywhere?
Does anyone know whats the deal and how to fix it?

Try another rom first to be sure that it isn't a cable issue

just tried Omni, but nothing...
i've tested a galaxy s2 yesterday, and there the cable worked like a charm... I even think now that its a hardware issue on my p880. (may the MHL-chip be broken or so).
Should i try another cable then?
Try stock.
