Guys i have a problem...i think my simcard is bad cuz when i try to send an sms it wouldnt go but in normal messaging app. When i set the sms center number then messages are being sent and also inn the *#*#4636#*#* menu..when i try to refresh or update my smsc number it always gives me refresh error or update error....but in my old g1 if i set it then messaging would work normally even from chompsms and other applications
Could someone try refreshing or updating the smsc present in the device information and tell if its working or not pls?
P.s 3g n voice calls are ok.using overcome latest rom and kernel and an international tab.

I had this when I got the market update for Google Voice go to Settings -> Call Settings -> GSM Call Settings -> Caller ID and change that setting from Network Default to Show Number

Yes, I have tried that before I posted the first post.
I had to downgrade
After installing cm4.2.1, I had to downgrade my Google Voice. The current one isn't working. But I am far too much of a noob to know why...
Cyanogen 4.22 fixed this issue.
anyone have issues wit stayin connected to gvoice?
i always have to sign out and sign bacc in when i exit out the program.. it stay open but when i try to send a message i get "failure to send sms" so i have to sign out and re due it everytime.. them all my text come in.. any solutions? i already did the caller id thing still nothin and updated to the new gvoice from market and it made it even more worse.. thanks!
im running cyan4.2.2 and GV works... however i havent had any "new" voicemails to try out. I guess I could do it myself haha.
Anyway, it wasnt working - the syncing - and then i uninstalled and reinstalled GV and it worked again.
I do have a problem where new voicemails would never show up even if i had refresh on for 5 mins and an exclusion on it in Advanced Task Manager. Again, havent checked this out yet on the new version of Cyan and GV .25
I have recently flashed DDJG4 and its by far the smoothest eclair for me but I have noticed that some of my contacts have a bug in messaging. Only their number shows up opposed to their name. This is annoying as I dont know who the message is from unless i open the contact details.
Contact details is fine, no problem. Just the messaging app.
Anyone else notice this? any fix ideas?

don't have enough messages from different people to confirm (only 4 so far). however, on a related note, do you see a long delay between unlocking the screen using the puzzle piece and the corresponding message opening in the messaging app?
Not checked. I use pattern lock. Ill have a go and see.

Sorry to say, but its just you.
I have over 41 conversations and all the names display correctly.
I noticed lagging on the lock screen to messaging in ddjf3
In ddjg4 there is no more lag anywhere.
I put the ext2 1gb lagfix just for the heck of it and the phone is now faster than me.
Reflash and see whats wrong.
Use the Backup apps from ritesh sahu.
I use them to backup my data before flashing.
I have the same problem too when I imported/restored about 150 old messages. Did you manage somehow to get rid of the problem? On my phone it's only some contacts where only the number is shown and not connected to a contact. This problem started for me when changing to the jm firmware line. For the jf and jg firmwares this problem does not appear.
Strangely, handcent sms has no problem with the sms/contacts. Therefore, this has to be a bug in the samsung sms application, not in our data.

I've been having some issues for a while with sending and receiving MMS messages. I'm using Owain build #80, with the included kernel. I'm on BB 1035.21_20110725 and RIL 0725 (V10d, Europe). My carrier is BiBob (who is on the CM MMS carrier list), and my MMS settings appear to be correct.
When receiving a MMS message I can see that one has been sent to me, but I'm not able to download the image. It's just stuck at a "downloading message" and three days later my carrier lets me see the image on their webpage instead, when sending an image it's just stuck at "sending".
I hope someone is able to help me, and that I've just missed some trivial setting somewhere.

I had this problem on a cm7 build.. here's what I did...
1. I installed go SMS from the market
2. Googled the APN settings for my network (pay as you go and contract are different)
3. Manually entered the APN settings in go SMS (found under ...settings .. mms settings.. manual apn...
Viola mms working.. try that and let me know how u get on

Hi, first of all thanks for the help you could bring me. My problem is that since yesterday night I'm not receiving any kind of sms or mms on my stock messaging app. Today I was trying to solve it but with no success. So I installed Go SMS Pro and to my surprise it worked, I started receiving SMS and mms, but still the stock messaging app is not alerting of upcoming sms even though it's receiving them (I think that they share a common folder and that's why if in go SMS pro it works it'll show on stock messaging app, so in theory stock is not receiving but just showing, am I right?).
For now I'm using SMS go pro, but I'd like to know why this happened. I read something about accessing a hidden testing menu (*#*#4636#*#*) to change the smsc but that menu is not available on my phone (any idea why?) tried the code above and tried using those apps that serve as a shortcut. The screen goes dark as it's trying to access the testing menu and returns to home screen, in other apps (like missing shortcuts) it shows as unavailable. I even edited the hiddenmenu file on efs/carrier from OFF to ON and still the testing menu doesn't appear. I'm using my phone right now with mobile data, wifi works well and so do phone calls, no problems at all.
I'd really appreciate any ideas that could help me. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 running 4.3 firmware, I updated from 4.1.2 a couple of days ago but didn't have any problems, I could receive sms normally. The problem happened suddenly yesterday night.

there is an option in Messaging app...Auto Retrieve - check if enabled....
if other app work with no problem it's just an app related problem..not something else...check in app setting maybe something is not enabled...
a factory reset would make it work for sure....but is too much...

Thanks for the answer. Yeah, I don't want to factory reset since I've just did it to upgrade to 4.3. About the app settings, I've just tried all the possible combinations. I'm just using GO SMS Pro for now but MMS aren't downloading. Sigh.

try this: go to Settings->More->Application Manager-> Select "All" tab -> select Messaging-> Clear data + Clear cache...
I have been using this device (CLT L29) for 2 weeks now and I've totally enjoyed it. This happiness only got shattered when I realized that I couldn't send messages on this device.
After series of research, I got to know that its message centre number isn't set. This is where the problem is.
My came with Google Sms as its default sms app and this app doesn't allow for manual sms message centre settings.

The phone shipped with Google message, instead of the Huawei message app. Google message doesn't have the option to manually set up sms centre number

Have you tried huawei support? They're not too bad here in the uk at least
