[Q] Flip it to quiet - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had thought I had seen either an app or in the program an option to flip over the phone to quiet it if it is ringing. Does anyone know where this feature is located on the options menu, or do I need to get an outside app (I have found some apps to do this, but I thought I had seen it as an option in the rom???) Any help or recommendations welcome. Thanks!

What ROM are you using?

If you are using a Sense ROM, it should do that automatically. If you're running a non-Sense ROM, this app does it for free

looking for a good profile app

is there an app that can make my phone vibrate for notifications only when ringer is set on vibrate not all the time?
Just uncheck vibrate on ring... or is there something I don't understand?
and where would I do that, because I can't find it
Get the app Locale if you want what WinMo would call profiles.
For anyone looking for profiles like the Blackberry, there is an app called Quick Profiles and another one named Profiles. I haven't used either one extensively yet.
I'm using Quick Profiles (free in the Market) and I like it.
I haven't tried Profiles yet though.
I use Toggle Settings for profiles, it works pretty well .

It would be perfect if it had Switch/Toggle for APN. Please cooolcat, make one
I love Profiles, it even has the feature to backup your settings to SD card. Great for recovering after a wipe.
cannot find Toggle Setting (Donut) in market
Any help would be really appreciated, I cannot find it in the Market. I am using CM's 4.2.6 which is based on 1.6 and I see original and the cupcake version but no donut.

Contact the developer and ask them. Technically you are still on cupcake. Cyanogen only included bits and pieces from donut for 1.6. That is why you flash the 1.6 HTC recovery image before flashing cyanogen's ROM
I use profiles, works great on newest cm as well.
Only thing I would like now, is the ability as found in nokia / SE phones, to sort incomming calls based on caller groups.
Why? Because I want to be able to be called from work when sleeping, but let everybody else be silenced.

Power Control Widget MOD in Stock Froyo

Hello,
I have been using CM for the last months, and now that the stock froyo rom is here with sense, I was decided to give it a try.
One of the things I have gotten used to in CM is the power control widget with 2G/3G options. I feel like I cant live without that right now, so I am trying to get it back. Has someone being able to do this?
I donwloaded the mod from here, and flash it using rom manager:
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/3625-new-power-control-widget-with-one-click-2g3g-toggling/
But no luck, after restarting androud would freeze up after 5 seconds.
Any help? Thank youi!

I'm thinkin the same thing. Guess they have to sort out a new and updated app.
It isn't just that simple... guys at CM modified phone and settings apk for this to work... you can't just replace those two files here in stock FroYo! There are many dependencies. Besides you would at least have to deodex stock ROM but that's just the beginning...
I suspect it needs APIs only present in cyanogenmod. But, perhaps if the API for toggling 3G is discovered (it must be there as there's a HTC widget for this), one could modify the default power control widget.
You mean API call? I doubt that stock HTC ROM has that. Does AOSP have it? From the original author in CM thread you can see that he was waiting for Google to implement that call but they weren't so he modified settings.apk and phone.apk to allow that call...

The HTC ROM must have it (or something similar), since it has a widget for 3G enable/disable. Whether it's accesible or hidden is a different question. And AOSP doesn't have it, obviously.

The call might have the same name, but it calls different aspects of setting. Only that way the same software would produce two different results using the same action on two different ROMs (namely CM and stock HTC). This sounds logical.
Google "switchpro" it is just like the CM froyo power widget but more customizable.
And then what?
We know those widgets but we are talking here that they don't produce the same result on different ROMs... namely CM and stock HTC's.

Where is that widget? does it really switch from 3G to 2G in one click?

I tried it, but when you clicked on the 2G/3G switch icon it takes you the settings, it does not switch in one click, not as good as CM power control widget

I have been using whoisit sense beta and love it. It will carry the settings over with TIBU but you will need to make sure that you have your contacts on the device and the same ringtones where they were for it to work out right.

[Q]Disabling lockscreen

Hello xda,
After a few weeks with my rooted nook touch, I have come to realize how annoying the DRAG TO UNLOCK screen is. Is there any way to skip this and go straight from screensaver to homescreen/book/whatever-you-were-doing? Already scoured the google and this forum and can't find anything.
Thanks in advanced!
yeah, that would be nice if the lockscreen/screensaver could be completely disabled!
I use No Lock by BoD http://www.appbrain.com/app/org.jraf.android.nolock It has a widget for toggling the lockscreen too. I use it on all my android devices that don't have a rom with it built in. I wasn't sure if it would work with the nook touch but it works like a charm. I'd be nice to have a custom rom for the touch that has it built in. Maybe if cm7 gets running on it.

Thank you!
The problem of this utility is that it's always running as service and take some resources.
If I kill it from services keylock starting to work.
Think must be another ways - smth like disable lock in sys settings via adb.
If you're rooted with nook manager just use the nook touch mod manager and under the configure mod option you can disable the drag to unlock and also have a customized banner with your name and number below.

I know this is an old thread, and the Nook Touch Mod Manager fix DOES work if you have it installed, but as someone who just recently re-enabled the two part unlock, let me just mention that it is actually a useful feature. I don't know how many times I have pulled my Nook out to a random page, or random menu selection because the button got bumped whole it was in my pocket. Luckily, no random changes happened that were irreversible. It would really have sucked if I had managed to out it in black text on a black background, for example, and knowing my luck, it's amazing that I didn't.
So that's my two cents' worth. You can disable it, but it is actually quite useful, and speaking from experience, I recommend against doing it.
