Cyan Theme Template

may somebody make a theme template of cyans latest 4.2.11.1 for me cant seem to find it on his post nor website since he doesnt make them anymore :/
greatly aprreciated thanks
just download any theme that is for CM-4.2.11.1 and start replacing the images with the ones you want for your theme. I dont really know if Cyan is still putting out theme templates, i havent seen one in a while.

yeah i just did that...now to take out the google apps from the htc rom :/
making a little Gnome-ish theme
Make sure to post it up id like to see it =)
I have a default cm theme template I do for each rom updates. Mostly for my own themes use and to get back to stock when things break by flashing themes. It only has like open source apps though, so it doesn't come with stuff like gmail and market and youtube and such. You can always add the apk you theme of it inside the /app folder and sign it again if you want to do that.
I could upload it and post it if anyone wants.

it would un-theme every .apk that is in that .zip. I think there is a stock metamorph somewhere, you could take every image out of the folders except for the app icon image and do it that way.
oh ok...thanks man

It'll only get you back to default cyan rom if the sirmez theme didn't touch any of the google apps. Otherwise you'll see most things back to default and things like gmail/youtube/market may stay themed.

How to theme android

I'm trying to theme android.
I know that I can extract the APK's and edit the images, but what do I do after that?
how do I pack them back into APK files?
Learn to use either metamorph or ninjamorph. Their both apps by stereicson that let you change every image from an apk from within the phone.
what I meant was how would I create my own theme.
I'm not trying to apply themes that were already made, I'm trying to create a new theme.
but I've found that ubuntu lets me edit the images without extracting the apk

creating your own theme is very really easy. but it can be very time consuming depending on what you are trying to accomplish and edit.
After you edited your .png file (NOT .9.ping because that requires a much more advance and complicated method) simply sign the apk file, create the update-script to place in the /META-INF/com/google/android directory and then sign the update.zip file. You will need to use the search feature to lookup.
"update-script"
"signing tool"
Good luck

I would suggest the metamorph as well instead of flashing. Flashing seems like it would just take too much time.
Also, Android Commander and Droid Explorer (maybe a few others) offer easy signing tools/transferring the apk without the need of any metamorph or flashing.
Thank you Binary100100
that's exactly what I needed
and also to r3s-rt:
I need to create an update .zip for this task.

For ANY themeing, you don't need an update.zip. I'm just saying look into metamorph a bit; it really is easier than flashing and reflashing if it doesn't come out right. If updates are easier for you, though, go for it. =]
thanks again.
but where exactly would I look to modify the widgets?
specifically the music and clock widgets?

Music widget is in Music.apk. Clock widget is in DeskClock.apk.
Though metamorph is convenient, in my opinion it is a better tool to test parts of a theme. Learn how to sign update.zip files (with ubuntu it is as simple as a right click), there will be less errors this way (and you can theme the market,....).
p.s. Do learn metamorph also, it is great.
thanks, but where is the search widget?
and yes, I will learn

launcher.apk
creating a black softkey menu pop up with white text.
Hello everyone! I posted something like this and got no real answers. I'm not trying to create a full theme just edit what I already have. I'm trying to change the stock cyanogenmod softkey menu pop up. If gotten my images in place and got the background and icons the way I want them but I don't know which values XML file I need to edit in order to change the text color. Does anyone have any insight on which file I need in order to edit the menus text to white? Already decompiled the framework-res.apk.
Thanks
This is awesome, I'm just trying to get started with customizing android and theming seemed like the logical starting point. Thanks for the input guys/gals.

Does Theme replace Launcher?

I just want to ask whether the available themes in the APP and THEME part is going to replace my Launcher pro or not. Any idea?
Thanks before

Themes modify the system files, they aren't independent.
If you get a theme for a rom, it will modify things all around the rom.
If you get a theme for a program (adw) it will modify things inside the program only.
for example, I'm interested in using the ZEN theme or the minimalist theme. Can I use my LauncherPro after I flash the theme?

To do this you need to update the individual apps. In each apk you have a folder res\drawable (may be drawable-hdpi or drawable-hdpi-v4). in that folder there is a file ic_launcher_xxx.png, where xxx is the apps name, that is the icon. You need to grab the apps from whatever ROM you are using (some ROMs have modifications already so taking it from stock may remove some functionality), replace the icons, and return the apps.
Hope that helps

Help with Go Launcher EX Theme Creator

Im trying to create a couple Go Launcher themes using the Theme creator Beta. I have all my environment variables set up correctly, I can run the editor. My problem is that when I try to add a custom image the editor wont allow me to finalize my selection and actually add it into the theme. Also, I can't export the theme into a .apk ...
I'm really not sure what exactly I'm doing wrong, and I'd love someone to help me out
